Nah, Samsung is not going to leave that much money on the table. $2999 is more likely
Apple sold around 500,000+ AVP at $3,499. At $2,999 Samsung will be lucky to sell 50,000. If they want these devices in households, under $2,000 is reasonablely priced.

If Samsung wants to sell 500k units, they'll need to sell it for under $1000 ...

Should be interesting, would be nice to have a better vr headset for gaming that quest 3, a 1000$ I might be in.

Samsung is the only serious competitor to Apple on the eco system model. I am looking forward to see this new device specs and ergonomy and at what price … I never considered Meta being a competitor but more like the Nintendo of the bunch (really good but just fun …)
Let the battle begin and see who wins …

The part that will hurt is for Apple is...

Apple - $3,499
Samsung - $1,899? And likely to have better specs.
Lol better specs? The vision pro with the M5 is the most poweful VR headset the snapdragon is crap compared to the M5 lol
This samsung headset is just a rebranded and trustworthy name for the play for dream headset its the same spec lol

I hope Samsung's XR device is super. That will push Apple to do better with VP. If Apple just whines that Sammy is copying everything without making VP better than Sammy's device, they will walk the path of Nokia and Blackberry.

More useful? With whatever pathetic processor they decide to use? With Android developers too lazy to target anything other than phones (they can’t even bother to develop for tablets and people think they’ll target a device with a fraction of the market)?
They wont itll be worse than the vision pro especially with the snapdragon lol

The AVP is the first headset that didn't make me want to immediately puke. When I switched to a 3rd party headband that properly supported the front and back the weight issue and comfort all were fixed. That said I returned it before the 30 day period because I just wanted the display slightly sharper especially for passthrough.

That being said I preordered the M5 due to the 10% pixel pushing and 120hz display. Give it a try at the apple store and ask to see the virtual display. For me the AVP is the best productivity and entertainment device on the market, by far. I can work on a beautiful beach or next to a mountain and completely eliminate visual distractions.
The Samsung wont be able to compete against the vision pro M5 itll only be 90hz and the processor will be weak compared to the M5

Why on earth hasn't Apple created a Vision OS-native version of Maps? Crazy that Samsung/Google are getting there first. Such an obvious use case.
They have?

Apple Maps on Vision Pro:
  • Explore in 3D: Pinch and drag to move around the map, zoom in/out with hand gestures, and rotate using both hands.
  • Rich Place Details: Tap on locations to view hours, ratings, photos, and more—just like on iPad or iPhone.
  • Indoor Views: Some places like airports and malls offer interior layouts and multi-floor navigation.
  • Panoramic Previews: You can virtually walk through streets or orient yourself to landmarks before visiting.
  • Route Planning: Plan your route in Vision Pro and share it via AirDrop to your iPhone or other Apple devices.

As a former android developer, I wouldnt even say its laziness, Google’s developer tools are really garbage. And the play store console is horrible and Google can sometimes take MONTHS to approve an app update. Android lost like 1-2 million apps this last year because of how bad the play console has been lately and developers are giving up.

I began developing Apple apps and its a billion times better, to the extent that I no longer support Android for our platform.

I still develop for Android as some customers want an App for both platforms. Complaints about their developer tools aside, the real problem with Android on tablets is that Google never put their foot down in the beginning and forced developers to optimize the way Apple did with the iPad.

Had Google done that I think Android tablets would be good. But they didn’t and have never been able to recover.

I suspect many aspects of the hardware will be better, in particular the screen quality and FOV. But the software will lack, I don’t mean because it’s android but rather Apple’s greatest achievement with Vision Pro is its magic like ease of interaction, detailed finger tracking, the entire software experience outside of the core apps, Spatial Audio powered OS sounds, etc. You can tell they exhausted all avenues of optimization for the core experience.

Can Samsung do like, anything, without copying it from Apple?
To be fair, Gear VR was released 8 years ago by Samsung as their first VR attempt.

Samsung do copy many design aspect, but hardware-wise, they were more often than not there before.
Their first smartphones: SPH-i300 from 2001 (vs iphone 2006)
First tablet: Penmaster 386 1991 (vs Newton Message pad in 1993)

Samsung is ridiculous. Xiaomi too. They just sit around and wait for Apple to start making something, and then they just copy it and tweak it slightly.
AND arent payin attention enough to not copy the flops. bizzare.

Why can’t I attach a VR headset to my Mac Studio?

That’s all I want.. occasionally wear a headset for VR X-Plane or to view media “on a huge screen” of which all content is on that Mac. Not dish out € 4000 on the AVP.
