I've suspected that about the AppleTelevision for a couple of years.

Apple has been known to put interns and new recruits on projects that don't exist to see if the information gets leaked out. I too wouldn't be surprised if both iWatch and iTV are just that, ruses to show how stupid these other companies really are.

I still believe that Apple isn't making a watch. I think they have intentionally let this rumor grow and grow so that all of these other companies would waste their time and resources developing watches that no one will buy.

Regardless of all the features...and which company makes these smart watches...who's going to fork over $300+ for such a thing?...which REPLACES your existing watch.

Watches are fashionable and every now and then people look at them for the time...fashion is why there are hundreds to choose from at any given store in the world. And out of those hundreds, there are sooooo many that are very nice for under $150 (IMO).

I bought an awesome Victorinox watch a month ago for $100 even. Again, that's my taste in watches.

The smart thing for Apple to develop secretly is a Time Machine. Then they can go into the future, steal ideas there and use them in the present.

Im normally impressed with Samsung devices; however they're setting the bar pretty low with this watch. For $100 less, you can get a Nexus 4. For $70 less you can get a Nexus 7. This item looks nice but offers little IMHO.

Design wise its not half bad actually. But, boy, is it overpriced, I guess they thought "we are first so we can justify asking a lot", but it will not turn out well for them financially imo. I am all for new smart watches but this is not one I would like to own, couldnt be bothered to charge it up every day either.
Definitely looking forward to Apple's iwatch now, my wrist could do with a high tech, high quality Apple accessory :)

Screen too small.

But seriously, what a relief. For a minute there, I thought smart watches might become a thing, and I'd have to start supporting them!

I am always amazed how much faith people have in apple even though apple (to me) never delivered such a thing.

Just go back and look at all of Apple's first gen devices and see how the overall industry was affected....

Apple has the reputation of being innovative - aka changing the industry. The iPhone made smartphones things EVERYONE needed. The iPad revived the tablet industry and gave it purpose. The iWatch will give us features we never though we'd need in a watch - just wait.

In the meantime, read this from a former Apple employee. THIS stuff would make a watch "smart"......not the overpriced notification center Samsung just released.

Why would I want a smart watch that only lasts for a day, or even if Apple's is better and lasts for a week, why would I want that when I can get a regular watch where the battery lasts a couple years?

There is a trade-off. You get more functionality but you pay in terms of battery power.

If anyone provides a convenient way to recharge it doesn't have to be so bad. I wouldn't mind plugging it in when I take it off in the evening. Or do you wear your watch during the night?

Well, that's why it would do what the band does plus a lot more. Integrate a lot of functions into one that makes you willing to spend more.

Meh. For example - this watch doesn't do anything without a phone connected to it. So this smart watch doesn't appeal to me. And I doubt Apple's offering would either. Again - I don't want/need functionality on my watch. I wear a watch when I want to know the time and/or for a fashion "statement" - IE jewelry.

Epic Fail.

This is exactly what everyone would say Samsung would come out with...basically an iPod Nano with limited features

Also a reason that maybe you don't want to be first with some things. No matter how well you design it, it's probably not going to be as great as what everyone envisioned and so you'll end up getting skewered for being first to market.

A lot of people complain that Apple is often late to the game, but sometimes you really don't want to be on time.

What it reminds me of.

It's huge. The pictures on the verge make it even bigger looking on Vlads wrist. Suppose it's for the same fuds that buy phablets.

Wow, that is exactly the opposite direction Samsung should've gone. It's all too obvious that Samsung chose to bloat the heck out of it so it can wait for iWatch, only to trim some of the fat, refine it, and proclaim "Apple copied our watch".

And who the heck would use awkwardly placed camera lens on the watch's wrist band? It should only have front side camera for video chat.

I strongly suspect iWatch will be an iOS-based replacement to iPod nano, with very minimal UI, tight integration to iPhone and priced as close to $149 as possible.

I can only imagine that the Apple engineers gathered around a screen this morning, and are probably still laughing at the reveal of the Gear.
