For me recharging your watch once a day is a bit silly. I have a Pebble watch and I even forget to charge it once a week. Thankfully it's battery life is pretty good. Yes they are two different devices, one is a companion, while the other can do more tasks on it's own, etc.

I think Samsung was trying to beat Apple to the punch here, however 1 day battery life is pretty rough. However I guess if you're into the habit of charging your phone once a day, it's just another thing to remember.

You guys - :)

This is a Gen1 smartwatch released to get something on the market to then develop. People can choose to buy it or not KNOWING it's gen1. Yeah - it's clunky and WAY WAY too expensive, but the battery life is comparable to other GEN1 smartwatches being released and it's not that bad functionally.

So Apple waits it out and let's technology catch up to what they want to do - BUT THEY HAVE NO PRODUCT currently. By the time they release in mid to late 2014, Samsung with be a considerably better GEN2 and Sony will be GEN3, along with a slew of other vendor odderings.

In fact, GEN2 of Sony is already considerably better:

Say what you want, but until Apple actually releases an actual product then compared to what others have AT THAT TIME, you are all just blowing steam. :)

It's not really a first gen now is it, Microsoft and others have had a bash at smart watches for years. Either way you are going to look a complete knob with a huge brick on yer wrist.

On paper, maybe. In reality... no, no you couldn't.

I'm pretty confident that I, by myself, in 1999, could have designed and built a better smart watch than what an entire team of Samsung designers, architects, industrial engineers, software engineers, and manufacturers just built in 2013.

I have been a huge supporter of the Galaxy phones...but this Galaxy "Smart" Watch has me stumped. Maybe I'm not smart enough to get it? :p

Well from what I've read Samsung was first and hasn't created anything that's head turning
Hopefully when Apple comes out with this they'll do it right rather than fast

They should ...

They should call it ZuneWatch ... I understand the Zune name is available at a good price.

This is why I don't really see Samsung as a threat to Apple, they seem to make so many silly decisions. From Touchwhiz on their phones to this "smart" watch.

I can see Cook and Ive literally laughing out loud at this announcement.

Microsoft has never released a smartwatch. As far as I know Sony was first to market about 1.5 years go and pebble and few others beginning of this year. This year still marks the end of cycle 1 of smartwatches with Samsung coming in on the back end of that and Sony releasing the first GEN2 model. The mistake Samsung made is trying to cram too much stuff into a watch when technology couldn't yet make those things small or cheap enough. Over-ambition is a common mistake for Gen1 devices. Apple waits too long to release a product in any market to make these mistakes, but SOMEONE has to make them and actually release them for the whole market to learn what works and what doesn't.

Actually, when you look at a video of the Gear, it doesn't seem as huge as the picture. Although the OS is sluggish, that's software that will be updated within a few months.

Give it a few months then re-judge. Not that Apple fb's would listen to reason though. :)

I am always amazed how much faith people have in apple even though apple (to me) never delivered such a thing.

Apple releases the iPod and iTunes and the music industry is disrupted & forever changed. CDs die off and the music model is blown up.

Apple releases the iPhone and the mobile industry is disrupted & forever changed. Mobile power houses are out of business within 2 years.

Apple released the iPad and the desktop/laptop industry is disrupted & forever changed. PC manufacturers start going out of business and profits plummet and the industry moves to tablets.

So, to you maybe not, but you're living under a rock.

minimum 7day battery life needed, would prefer 1 month between chargers.

price is about right

but

without that battery life, ill stick to taking my phone out my pocket and looking at the time on it instead

All these negative comments are hilarious! Watch when Apple creates one and everyone does a 180 on the concept. Too funny!:D

well there you have it

1. only compatible with note 3 , are you freaking serious , its like apple saying airdrop wont work with iPhone5 and it was released the same year

2. one day battery life

3. you were not the first.

4. camera

5. now we all know what you know how to do best - copy anything that works:rolleyes:
