lol 1 day battery and it cost $300 w/ just 4GB storage...

Apple could just as easily implement the BT protocol to the already iPod nano (which I believe is even more powerful than this one and was released almost 3 years ago) and it would probably work better, they haven't done so because of the battery life.

until now we had a bunch of goofs walking around gawking at their phones in their hands bumping into people on the street or malls... now we'll have bunch of the same goofs walking around elbowing everyone because they're gawking at their watch uugh...

not to mention texting and driving... "no officer I wasn't texting I was just reading off my watch" ...

Don't forget they will be banned too, if you're in a place you can't use a smartphone then equally you won't be able to use a smart watch, especially one with a camera!

I also bet the majority of people on here stating they never wear a watch would magically change their minds the second Apple announce one.

Not true. I never wear a watch and I've had the option of getting an iPod nano + wrist strap for quite some time and have never felt even an ounce of temptation.

The only wearable wrist device on the market that I would even consider wearing is the Nike FuelBand, mostly because it looks entirely different than a conventional "watch" and is much smaller/more stylish. If Apple came out with a "smart watch" tomorrow that looks like this Samsun watch, I would have ZERO interest. Now if they come out with a wearable wrist device that looks better/smaller and has more practical, usable functionality, then I would consider it.

I may be in the minority, but I don't think it's that terrible for version 1. Sure it could use a more battery life, more usability with other devices, more finesse all at a better price. But where is Apple's version? or vision?

I can see version 2 using the strap for additional power requirements.

I love Samsung's production team and capabilities. It's hard to go with an alternate company when it comes to manufacturing excellency.

I just prefer that Apple does the designing :p
(my haswell Air has Samsung screen and samsung SSD - wouldn't have accepted any alternate... and iPad Retina has samsung screen as well).

Hummm... small camera on wrist... could be trouble!

This isn't getting much love on other sites either. Will be interesting to see if it fly's or dies. I think die.

blame apple for asking for quality. A cheap company can make high end stuff if they are paid good enough. I used to remember 10 years ago samsung was just an ok meh brand. Their screens due to contracts and tech have made them be big and w/ that money they are using the tech for their own products now.

So , you've managed to contradict yourself and prove my point all in one post. Well done.

Just looked at the new Sony SmartWatch 2 and that thing gets 4 days between charges.
And it works with pretty much any Android phone running ICS (4.0.x) or later.
Granted it does less, but really, do I need a camera on my wrist?

The question is, with constant bluetooth connectivity between 2 Android devices, will both the devices (specially the phone) last all day? From my experience, Android is quite notorious when it comes to battery life.

I have an idea of what I want a watch to be, and this Samsung watch is not it. Apple's watch won't magically be it either if it just copies the Samsung watch, and Apple is not stupid enough to release something like this failure Samsung released.

I really think when it comes time to actually SELL this watch, Samsung will delay it's release date, and delay, delay, then never actually sell it. It's just something to say 'we were first' - with no imagination.

If Apple ever released a piece of junk like this, they'd be shredded in the comments here. Samsung is actually getting off relatively easy on this, simply because no one expected any better of them.

This is exactly what's happening. Sure, people are bashing this product on this forum. But no where near the bashing that something this silly deserves.

It is wrong in its very premise. A watch with less than a day's battery life.

It's like making a car with a gas tank too small to get from your house to the gas station

Exactly, I think in this respect the mistake that Samsung has made is to put a complete Android OS, with all the useless extras on it. A slimmed down, optimised, low battery-drainage version would work better and would also solve the lag problem most likely.

Why? There could be a wireless charging solution. If the watch can provide a functionality that really enhances whatever part of my life at a reasonable price than I don't mind plugging it in during the night. Who wears their watch during the night anyway?

Long battery life would be great, but would it be a deal breaker? I wonder. It's a first world problem...

It's a first world product and nobody wants a watch that will die before you get home.

1 day battery life, are they freaking serious? This is not a smart phone; it is a watch, and I don't want to be plugging it in every 24 hrs!

Massive fail, as usual wait for the real McCoy from Apple. This is a prime example of why Samsung copy, their original ideas suck!

The real McCoy is already here. It's called the Pebble. I love my Pebble.

In regards to your first comment, the iPod Nano + wrist strap is basically a watch. Many of us don't want that.

And you have to remember that whatever Apple is coming out with will most likely be something similar in style design to the fuelband since they hired that guy from Nike.

I'm thinking you'll see a 1" wide curved glass that tapers off and into some soft plastic/rubber material for a 1 piece strap.

this is the kind of crap Samsung makes when its not busy stealing Apple's technology and design.

I think any 'smart watch' Apple makes will be equally as pointless and useless as all the rest including this Samsung effort. Because the battery life will be rubbish. I mean we've had precision Swiss automatic movements that never run out of power for century's, and now for no reason at all everyone finds some watch gadget with a few DAY'S battery life as acceptable, because a smart phone just isn't enough?
