And that ladies and gentleman is the reason Apple is not the first to ship their watch. This thing is an epic failure yes it is the first but it certainly shows in the quality. Applause to you Samsung for beating everybody else, but this again shows that being first doesn't necessarily mean you'll get it right.

Please, give a bit of Objectivity:

Good points to Samsung Gear:

1-Its an Smarwatch powered by android 4.3, that means a lot of software will be developed for it.
2-Powerful Interactive Notification System with Up Level Integration (only fewAndroid 4.3 devices).
3- HANS FREE FUNCTION (or Hand Up acually makes more sense), it's an good selling point.
4- Amoled Screen, looks awesome.

Bad:
1- Maybe pricey, 300$ stand alone seems much, but most Dumb "STYLE" Watches cost more than that. Whatever still pricey.
2- Battery: 24h maybe a No-No for some users, while most others actuall reomves they waches every nigth will be comfortable.

So-So:

1.9 Mp Camera... mmm maybe useful for some Papparazi videos... so

Bulk: It's an BIG Watch, some will love, some will hate, it's an personal likely.

I consider (As actually promoted) as an effective partner for the new Galaxy Note 3.

I'm as Galaxy S4 Owner, I'm very impressed, but not cosidering to run to buy it, maybe for Xmas if some app does rise the gap.

--------------------

Other Annoucements:

Galaxy Note 3: as the Galazy S4 just an little improvement over previous model, while touchwhiz was hugely improved, is not an radical evolution as The Note 2 was on Note 1, btw it's and very good device, very useful on its ow niche.

Galaxy Note 10.1 2014: At Last a real Rival for Retina iPad, the S-Pen it's an god feature, but as every 2560x1600 has very few optimized app for this huge screen, while S-Pen and basic apps add an awesome value over iPad, the lack of optimized 3rd party apps still an issue, but as Hardware is the very first rivaling the iPad retina with superior specs and the Digitizer which gives great value for artists.

---------------------------

Only thing needs Apple/Peebble to do with SG, is to add hands free funtion to its devices.

Terrible battery life? I just switched to an S4 from 4S. It blows away the iPhone's battery.

Not sure if you're one of Samsung's social team members posting this, but you're comparing a 2 year old phone's battery to a new phone. Even a new 4S should handily outlast your current 4S.

You need to compare the upcoming 5S with the SG4 for a more fair comparison.

I would still chose this one.

Why? There could be a wireless charging solution. If the watch can provide a functionality that really enhances whatever part of my life at a reasonable price than I don't mind plugging it in during the night. Who wears their watch during the night anyway?

Long battery life would be great, but would it be a deal breaker? I wonder. It's a first world problem...

first world problems is wanting a watch in the first place that syncs up with your phone so you dont have to pick it out of your pocket.
This whole thing is ridiculous

I'm going to slap an :apple: logo on that watch and "watch" all the reviews turn positive.
You are stu.. no wait, I'm not allowed to insult other forum members. :(
You are double-plus-wrong.
I'm guessing Apple will get 3-5 days at the start of their device.
Everything under 30 days is a failure. Apple logo or not.
Samsung come on, you can do better.
That's a stretch. We have no proof for that claim.

It just reminds me of when Jobs introduced the iPad during the Netbook craze because Netbooks "do a lot of things but they don't do any of them well"

Cue the iWatch...

Dude... Note 3 is awesome, WTF are you talking about. How is Note 3 makes you look ridiculous? Size? iPhone is just too freaking small and 5.7 inch is just prefect for me.

And yeah. Samsung can price whatever they what, and you don't have to pay $300 for this. I highly doubut Apple will sell their smartwatch less than this, and it might not be much better than this.

You either are just ... or ...

Never mind. You wont get it anyway.:D

Jawbone UP2 battery life...

1 day battery life, are they freaking serious? This is not a smart phone; it is a watch, and I don't want to be plugging it in every 24 hrs!

Massive fail, as usual wait for the real McCoy from Apple. This is a prime example of why Samsung copy, their original ideas suck!

I have a Jawbone UP2 and am happy with it, and the battery lasts 10 days. One day battery life? Is that 24 hours? 12? 8?? Would I trade my UP in for this? No way... anxious to see what Apple's take is going to be.

Glasses, watches.

You can come out with them all you want but nobody wants to wear a computer... especially one that does the same thing as your phone.

Shrug.

Speak for yourself, please. I've wanted wearable tech forever.

And, as far as I'm concerned, if it's in my pocket/hands 16+ hours a day, it is being worn, for all intense purposes ;-) Wanting a more hands-free solution isn't all that strange.

I think what most of us would like to see, is Siri and the iOS Apps it works with, be *useful* ... I should be able to use a "screen-less iPhone" that never has to leave my pocket or center council in my car..

"Siri, remind me to buy cat food when I'm driving on HWY 98 going east, and am 10 miles away from (store name here), or less"

"Siri, remind me to buy coffee when I driving on HWY 98 going west, and am 5 miles or less from (store name here)."

"Siri, launch NASCAR Mobile, turn on Dale Jr's in-car audio"

"Siri, new tweet, 'Shrub again question mark hashtag nascar'"

"Siri, open Navigon, destination in Contacts, Johnny Appleseed, work, begin navigation."

"Siri, add a repeating calendar event, every Monday, at 11am, to go to Apple.com/feedback, and complain how you don't work like this yet"

;-)

Sigh. I'd love it if I could just get voice dialing to work properly/consistently!

 Wut did Samsung do?

Why in the world is a $299 Smartwatch only compatible with two devices at launch when they have a quadrillion devices out on the market already?

It just doesn't make sense!

What software is this running? Is it come kind of android? Or is it simply just Samsung software. It looks like developers can't make apps for this right?

Not looking for this product, probably not even from Apple. Only feature I might be interested is the whole pedometer, activity tracking, but I can get a pedometer for $40 bucks or less, so ...

And the good thing about the cell phone revolution is that I haven't had to wear a watch to know the exact time for a long time. Why would I want to wear a watch, except for fashion purpose?

I would also expect that Samsung watch to get uncomfortably warm when in heavy use. However, this is just my speculation based on cell phone experience.

a 315 mAh battery that provides up to one day of regular use

A watch that prematurely runs out of battery, then hanging uselessly on your wrist is the worst thing you can do. Maybe except when Jony Ive designed it.

I'm also puzzled about the camera at the top. I suppose that you'll have to pretzel up yourself to make video calls with it?

After seeing the hands on videos up at Engadget and on the Verge, I hope that Apple does a much better job with the iWatch, otherwise I don't see me getting interested in any smart watch..
The S Gear looks bad, is not smooth and has a lousy battery life. 299$ for that? Who would buy that? I see only nurds buying it.

I wouldn't be surprised if apple leaked to the world that they were working on a watch (even had some people working on it) just to get other companies to make one, and apple won't ever release it. lol

It's happened a few times already where companies try to beat a rumored Apple product to release.

Right. Nobody wants what the Samsung watch offers.

The iPad succeeded, for example, because even though the hardware was similar to other tablets, the SOFTWARE and FUNCTIONALITY was completely new and different.

In all the other tablets pre-iPad, there was generally still a mouse cursor you moved around the screen to interact with elements the same as Windows worked. There were still scroll bars on the right and bottom of the screen, and you clicked small + and - sign icons to increase/decrease the size of things.

The iPad had pinch-and-zoom with your fingers (much better than +/- buttons), scrolling by putting your fingers anywhere on the screen, and no mouse cursor, but just touching buttons and re-imagined UI elements.

Samsung did nothing 'innovative' at all, just slapped existing UI's into a smaller form factor. They're waiting for Apple to figure out how to do a better UI on a smart watch and then follow.
