Just an FYI regarding the refresh rate - by default the phone runs at 60hz with the native QHD+ resolution, and to run it at 120hz the resolution drops to 1080p.

Correct per MKBHD.

These camera bumps are getting uglier and uglier (on both iPhone & androids)

I like my green triclops, thanks.

  • No one gives a s**t about 8K video and shouldn't for like a decade at least
  • More pixels in a camera ≠ better image quality
  • Samsung campers have criticized the iPhone's camera bump for years, only to introduce the absolute fugliest one yet of anyone in the industry
  • Enjoy your 16GB of RAM - you'll need at least half of it to run that god-awful bloatware Samsung loads on top of Android
  • "Galaxy Buds" are a clear and blatant rip off of the AirPods (I'm guessing they were so busy trying to even catch up that they had no time to come up with a more original design)
Did I miss anything?

  • No one gives a s**t about 8K video and shouldn't for like a decade at least

    Most don't give a **** about 8K, some do

  • More pixels in a camera ≠ better image quality

Look up pixel binning, more pixels can mean better image quality if done right. Don't judge before seeing sample

  • Samsung campers have criticized the iPhone's camera bump for years, only to introduce the absolute fugliest one yet of anyone in the industry

Bump ugliness is subjective. I don't like it, many people don't mind

  • Enjoy your 16GB of RAM - you'll need at least half of it to run that god-awful bloatware Samsung loads on top of Android

Not as bad and sincerely doesn't matter anymore as most flagship phones today are plenty fast

  • "Galaxy Buds" are a clear and blatant rip off of the AirPods (I'm guessing they were so busy trying to even catch up that they had no time to come up with a more original design)

Not at all, they are very different in design.

But this has 5G. Who cares if it can't pass through a piece of paper, it's 5G.
This has Sub6 5G and mmWave 5G. Sub6 stuff works through walls. mmWave is utter garbage for mobile.

Samsung phones will always have at least one weakness: Software.
One UI is pretty slick. Has gotten a ton better over the last 2 years.

Except that it does. This is the same sensor used by Huawei, and it already beat the iPhone 11 Pro in a comparison made by Marques Brownlee.

This is Samsung's implementation, which I guess will be better. Anyway the phone selectively adjust and decides the Megapixel count depending on the light conditions, it will not always try to use the 108 MPx sensor. It has a 12 MPx for low light situations.

You can also zoom optically to crazy levels, that is very Pro my friend. It has focused definition, meaning it can decide to select parts of your image, focus on it and make it look sharper. Instead of accusing this phone of gimmicky, Apple should see what the competition is doing and try to deliver much more.

Apple releases the iPhone in September Samsung the Galaxy at the beginning of the year, come January Samsung has always better specs and come September the iPhone has.

It’s a sharp looking phone, and I think Samsung has brought some really great technology to the table. But is it really about all the latest hardware anymore? [Especially at these prices] I think consumers are devoted to the software, rather it be android or iOS. It’s not often that somebody completely just converts away from the iPhone to Samsung or vice versa. I think what matters is, the OS experience of what keeps somebody tied into the ‘name brand’, and that’s where iOS really outshines android in my opinion. (And I have experience on both platforms for the record.)

2 things I really like these Samsung phones over My Iphone 11. USB C and all screen oled display. Make it happen this year!

Very impressive specs, including a “ProMotion” equivalent display refresh rates (120), a base storage of 128 GB (further expandable) and really impressive sounding cameras. Apple will be playing catch up this autumn and I hope they deliver. 🤞
Nope.
No “ProMotion” equivalent display.
ProMotion doesn’t rely on gimmicks like reducing the resolution significantly to use the max refresh, like this does.

Give a photographer a Canon T3i from 2011 and some random off the street a 5ds with the same lens and see how that works out for you

I didn't say that this camera is worse than the iPhone 11 Pro.. having more megapixels alone doesn't mean better pictures.

They were pushing the "Megapixel" count in the live stream and I was simply stating that megapixels isn't everything in photography. They are just pushing these massive numbers for wow factor to trick consumers. I like that Apple actually makes improvements in other areas of the camera without focusing on the megapixels of the camera
Those other areas mostly have to do with computational photography and using more pixels helps for that exactly reason. The more pixels you have the more the algorithms can do.

Marques Brownlee is just an overhyped youtuber. You shouldn't watch him for actual technical comparisons, there's way better youtubers for that. He doesn't even get the spec sheet right in half of his videos.
He's good for getting a first look at new phones, but that's about it.

Samsung are doing apple trick you must buy 128GB but want more storage you have to buy the 512GB...

£1399 for 512GB with poor resale value and no updates is a tough sell
You can buy the cheaper one and still stick an microSD card in to expand storage. Which is fine for storing pics and movies.

What i hate about Samsung (or Android in general) is its terrible record of Software Upgrades. I mean, you know for sure that this 1400 dollar Galaxy S20 Ultra ships with Android 10, and will receive an upgrade to Android 11 and 12 and some security updates but that's it! That fact alone is the biggest reason to stay with Apple.

Even the biggest Apple hater should admit that Apple is the king of Software Upgrades, look at the 5S.

Yes, I agree more mp can help but I just feel they are pushing numbers to fool consumers. At some point its just there for bragging rights. Isn't the iPhone still 12mp? I don't think the s20 is going to be 9x better.. 12 vs 108mp
