It's not just mobile OS. Keep in mind that Samsung devices come with real multitasking/multiwindows UI that can be projected to a monitor (it's called DeX). With DeX, running, say. MS Office is pretty similar to desktop experience so 16GB of RAM makes perfect sense. iOS does not have this functionality, so perhaps it iOS that is pathetic here?

And I am pretty sure that you got Android updated on your phone soon after it was released by Samsung (because Samsung devices use Samsung OS, just like Apple devices use Apple OS).
Stop with the “real multitasking” BS. Android will randomly suspend and kill off processes the same as an iPhone. Curious, do you even understand how multi threading/multitasking works on iOS and Android? They are far more similar than you think, and both are significantly behind Windows or macOS.

Have you used Dex? It’s a joke. Samsung already dropped Linux on Dex (which many were claiming was some sort of developer holy grail). So much for that. Dex itself is far less useful than people think, especially when running those Fisher Price Android Apps that don’t even scale up or become useful when they’re shown on a big screen.

You’re “pretty sure that you got Android updated on your phone soon after it was released by Samsung (because Samsung devices use Samsung OS, just like Apple devices use Apple OS).” Seriously, do you even know anything at all about Android and Samsung?

Except that it does. This is the same sensor used by Huawei, and it already beat the iPhone 11 Pro in a comparison made by Marques Brownlee.

This is Samsung's implementation, which I guess will be better. Anyway the phone selectively adjust and decides the Megapixel count depending on the light conditions, it will not always try to use the 108 MPx sensor. It has a 12 MPx for low light situations.

You can also zoom optically to crazy levels, that is very Pro my friend. It has focused definition, meaning it can decide to select parts of your image, focus on it and make it look sharper. Instead of accusing this phone of gimmicky, Apple should see what the competition is doing and try to deliver much more.
It really doesn’t. My high end DSLR has 28MPx. So you’re telling me this phone is better than my $5000 camera?

There is no Samsung OS... they use their own visual framework on top of Android (One UI).
Samsung release their own version of OS based on Google software. So, obviously some features introduced by Google get to Samsung phones later but this is also true for iOS (which borrows from Android heavily). Besides, OS features are not that important and there has not been much progress there anyways. The progress is in apps and services which, in case of Android, get released separately from the OS.

Apparently you didn't look at the Buds.
They look nothing like AirPods.
No, for these Samsung imitated others who came to market earlier and with better products. There are many out there, and the 'Galaxy buds' resemble other products—down to the oblong/ovoid design of the battery/charging case.

No but it does mean you can crop photos and still have a large resolution suitable for printing. Not a Samsung fan but the camera specs are impressive.
The higher the camera resolution, the bigger the image and the more space it takes up on your phone. In my two days of shooting, A reviewer took 151 photos at 108 megapixels, which comes in at 2.34GB of total storage space. The average file size for a 108-megapixel shot is about 20 megabytes.
That’s a lot of storage. That’s an HD Movie

What i hate about Samsung (or Android in general) is its terrible record of Software Upgrades. I mean, you know for sure that this 1400 dollar Galaxy S20 Ultra ships with Android 10, and will receive an upgrade to Android 11 and 12 and some security updates but that's it! That fact alone is the biggest reason to stay with Apple.

Even the biggest Apple hater should admit that Apple is the king of Software Upgrades, look at the 5S.

Not to mention, updates. Google may push a monthly security patch, but outside of the Pixel 2, 3, & 4, and the Essential, who actually gets them? Note that Google stopped supporting the initial Pixel already.

The few Samsung phones I have always had problems with them and they also plummeted in value after less than 12 months. I prefer iPhones and they retain more of there value when I upgrade every year. I will never buy another Samsung phone I don't care how many megapixels the cameras have.
Samsung phones plummet in value within 5 months! And are horrible phones. I tried them out early on when LTE was 'new' and I had problem after problem with new but unreliable Samsung 'high-end' phones. Then I made the switch to iphone and have never had a problem - and that's since 2010.

Since an SD movie is 4.7gb and an HD movie up to 50gb (dual-layer Blu-Ray disc), I think you might wanna rework your math there.

"The new Samsung smartphones will be available for purchase on March 6, with pre-orders to kick off on February 21. Pricing starts at $999.99 for the Galaxy S20 5G, $1,199.99 for the Galaxy S20+ 5G, and $1,399.99 for the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G"

Is Samsung giving Apple some hint how to price their 5G models?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

The 100X SPACE ZOOM branding on the back is pretty cringe worthy and should get someone fired.

Maybe I'm getting older, but that presentation was such a stilted BS. "Look at those colors.... amaziiiing!"... "and you can do selfies without tripod too"... like it's something that matters.

Not much different from Apple keynotes, but... we are getting so stupid as a mankind, aren't we?

This is the one thing that irritates me about the megapixel fight.

It all depends on the size of the sensor and the image processing on the backend.
28MP on a 1" sensor means really big pixels to capture more light.

Now that 108MP sensor does not use the pixels the same way your "high end" DSLR will.
The AI software will combine pixels to make a single image pixel depending on light conditions.
Not all sensors are created equally.

No... they don't. It is not a forked OS like Amazon FireOS.
Samsung uses Google's release of Android and applies their own visual framework on top of it.

That's Dex:

That's real multiwindow GUI (DeX). As far as multitasking is concerned, Android may kill the app too but because of the RAM size and OS policy it happens nowhere near as often as with iOS. In my case (Note 9) I never had an app killed by OS. They just keep running for months (unless I clean them up).

I hope this explains why 16GB for Samsung phones makes sense (at least for some users)

It's not just a visual framework. It's their own OS (obviously borrowing heavily from Google). For example, Google's Android does not support S-pen (on phones) or memory cards, IR blasters and a lot of other hardware and features used by Samsung.
