Samsung flagship: S9 - $720
Apple flagship: iPhone X - $999

iPhone X pricing is ridiculous.

If they relaase a iPhone X Plus we'll have:
Samsung flagship: S9+ - $840
Apple flagship: iPhone X Plus - $1099

Apple could have increased the iPhone 7's $700 pricing to $750 or even $799 which would already had been a %10 to %15 yearly increase, but the $999 pricing was a %42 increase which is ridiculous.

NO. Let's look at it like we're in 2017 still

iPhone 8 (S8)= $699
iPhone 8 Plus (S8 Plus)= $799
iPhone X (Note 8)= $999

Not at all what I said --> Try again please..

I said Samsung's are always on sale at release and offer up goodies or discounts to get people to buy. Apple does not so again, ask yourself why this is....

Could it be because Samsung feels they need to do this to make sales? Samsung is a business and counts every cent. When they give you something for free that cuts into their bottom line. Basic math really... Or do you truly believe Samsung is offering you all these freebies because they genuinely want to hook you up?

"Androids and more specifically Samsungs are ALWAYS on sale... Even before they are released! LOL..."

You found that funny and seemingly mocking Android manufacturers for doing these sales. Am I wrong? Or why was that so funny to you?

Try again. It was obvious to me and other posters you were laughing at them having to do sales. I welcome all sales as a consumer. Fortunately for Apple you prefer to pay full price.

Almost correct...

Now ask yourself why a phone would be on sale, getting discounts and freebies before it's even released...

Announcement @ 10AM
Discounts and sales @ 10:01AM
Phone not yet available for 2 weeks.

I am all for discounts, freebies and sales but ask yourself why within minutes of announcement a phone is already offered at sales and discount prices with freebies tossed in.

Holiday sales? Fine
6 months in sales? Fine!
Before it's even released? LOL

Do you really believe its because Samsung wants to hook you up?

Unless the iPhone X magically gets adjustable aperture, the S9 will be able to do things with photography the X can't. Without reviews we don't know the overall quality of the camera, but there is no question Samsung is doing some really nice things with their cameras.

I agree, but regardless of what they are doing, the photos will be very comparable to the X.

So you dance around my point. It's obvious all you care about is Apple as a business and not consumer.

Some businesses have different marketing strategies. Some consumers may be undecided if they should upgrade then they hear about freebies and that's what causes them to purchase the phone. The more consumers have the phones in their hands soon after release are like small billboards to Samsung. A consumer buys it, their friends sees it and wants it, etc.

Some people just want to feel like they are getting a deal. I am one of these people. It could be something small, $5 off, it plays on your mind that it's a deal.

Now you're most likely going to disagree. But think about this, if you're in a supermarket and you usually buy brand X milk and you see another brand offering a 2 for 1. You will give the other brand a second look. For others they might jump on the deal.

It's called marketing and every company has a different strategy.

Edit:
Samsung original bottom line may be they want to make 300 dollars. Let's say the cost of manufacturing is 350. Samsung, instead of pricing it at 650 they price it at 750 and announce they are giving you a 100 discount. People hear discount and impulse makes them buy because it's for a limited time.

Well I’m fairness the camera should be better as it’s their flagship for this year. Hard comparing this years camera to a camera on last years

Nope we agree there.. My point is a phone announced 2 seconds ago should be able to sell @ it's listed price. Sales, discounts and freebies should come later for holiday sales or when the sales numbers start to slip a few months later. Offering these things on a phone announced 5 seconds ago says a lot to me..

My son is a Samsung phone lover and he is getting the S9. The S9 is a fine phone if you dig Samsung. I was responding to the fact it's on sale before it's even released. That says a lot to me..

I edited my post to add more which may aid in bringing my point across. I have seen many products released that offers pre-order discounts though...and I mean products all across the board not just phones.

So the same thing as the S8 with some old camera tricks. Probably a fine phone, but I’m surprised how little Samsung is criticized when they make little to no changes to phones and software for years.
Maybe because they don't keep going around saying "can't innovate anymore, my ass!"

Completely wrong.

Samsung face unlock is easily fooled by a picture. Their iris unlock is easily fooled by a picture and a generic contact lens.

FaceID required the construction of a detailed mask to fool. And the people who claimed to have done it most certainly cheated (like putting in a PIN after a false try on their mask) as they famously refused to answer the most basic questions presented to them and dodged others.
Duuuuude! I love you!

Examples of Apple's latest innovations?

Airpods - sound, 2 week battery life
Apple Watch - computer on your wrist
iPhone X - Face ID, gesture UI, bending OLED
iPad Pro - 120hz screen
A Series Chips - all of them, performance, AI on a chip

Those are a few, I am sure there are more. They have the best hardware and software of any tech company right now.

I don't see much from the Samsung side besides some software tricks that end up not being used.

My issue with Samsung is not that's it's Android as I like Android.

Samsung:
  • Bloat, bloat and more bloat
  • Duplicated Google services
  • Gimmicks
  • Lag, lag, lag
A quick visit to any Samsung forum will show that most users experience significant slow down issue within a year. The hardware is solid, no doubt but Samsungs software add ons and gimmicks kill the performance of their phones.

This will also help out in bright sunny situations. I'm using the Note 8 which has f1.7 camera. Sometimes I feel it lets too much light in, which fades the shot. f2.4 would solve that issue.

Or maybe I'm just talking nonsense. I'm no expert in photography.

No you are correct, this is the intent. That's what I meant about bright light situations

I didn't read the 26+ pages of "hate" i'm sure for Samsung. With that said i'll give the typical Macrumors response to anything anti-apple....

"If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to buy it."

Is that how it goes? Did I do that right guys?

**For the record I do not find Samsung phones/Android even slightly appealing**

iPhone X bending OLED - Every Android phone since 2010
iPad Pro - 120hz screen Useless, same argument iPhone fans been saying about OLED and high resolution screens on a phone/tablet.
A Series Chips - Chips are always improving and Samsung and Qualcomm are already using the latest manufacturing process.

I don't see any innovation here, just the use of good technologies that were already being used.

Yea I agree. I mean I have overall issues with Android, but for the most part, it’s a solid OS, especially on the Pixel. What you lined out though is absolutely correct, Samsung ruins the experience.

Sound rebuttal yet how does that relate to iPhone X's bundles or sales on contract with USA providers when launched (announced) before product was available? I don't really see a difference ... also iPhone X is being heavily offered on sales/bundles from T-Mobile USA and it's less than 4mths old, not 6mths like you claim would be ok by your standards. Something doesn't fit.

Still I've not seen a major sale just immediately after announcement like what Samsung is having here.

Which Samsung devices have you used before? I'm curious as you talk a lot about bloat and lag, which isn't happening since the S5 days.

I don't claim 6 months as that was an arbitrary number for when I estimated sales of a new phone would start to serious dip and sales be needed. It's that happens at 4 months then it happens. But sales immediately after announcement indicate something, that's for sure.

Imagine if seconds after the X was announced Apple had a $100 off sale before it was even shipping. The X haters would be saying it's the demise of the X, proof the notch is terrible, etc, etc, etc..

My son has had every Samsung since the SII Skyrocket (terrible name for sure)... Been to any Samsung forum lately?

Asside. from that, AT&T just replaced his S7 for the 3rd time and this is S7 number 4 since he bought it.

Dex is fantastic. Had a play with it in the s8 a while back. Didn't realise you could install a full Linux distro though? That's insanely cool.
[doublepost=1519642524][/doublepost]

The iphone slows when the battery has "issues" at the same time the new iphone model comes out :p

All the Samsung demo's to show off Linux in Dex mode shows Ubuntu ... the UI I can't stand. There is a "+" button seemingly to add ... and I'm digging forums to find out the steps to load Fedora onto it. That said Linux full desktop distro is there.
