I, don't own one. Because I, don't need one. My phone lasts me all day and I've got access to USB at home, at work and in my car. Why would I need a usb battery pack?

So much for 'literally everyone'
Soon enough wireless battery packs will be available. Still remember when Ballmer said the iPhone will fail cause it has no replaceable battery or physical keyboard. Same issue with headphone jacks

You also discount how many people will purchase outside carrier stores like Best Buy, which is offering $100 if you pre-order.

Androids and more specifically Samsungs are ALWAYS on sale... Even before they are released! LOL...

Samsung routinely has offers for brand new devices on their site. Buy one and get a VR for free or buy one and get a 256GB SSD card for free..

What's next? Buy an S9 and get 2 free?

What does or should that tell you?

When Apple releases updates. All non-obsolete iPhones get the update.

When Samsung releases updates. Only the newest, mosty shiny phones get the release.

Do not buy Galaxy phones unless you want to be behind a year from now.

That and the insane amount of bloat.... Oh my...

Im sure you still use cassette's, AUX ports, phys

No. I switched to CDs, used Minidisc and now flash memory.

Whats the successor to the 3.5mm jack? Some crappy headphones with garbage sound quality you need to constantly charger and then buy a new pair once the battery doesn't hold a charge?

That's not a successor. Try harder.

When Apple releases updates, all of the "non-obsolete iPhones" get buggy, laggy and slugish, obsolete I'd say.

When Samsung releases updates the all non-obsolete Galaxys get improved performance, battery life and some new features that won't rival the newer product they are trying to sell.

Don't forget that Samsung releases security updates frequentely which are way more important than a newer Android Update. My S5 from 2014 is still getting them ;)

So they’ll have comparable photos to the iPhone X now. I’m sure it’s progress but nothing crazy.
Unless the iPhone X magically gets adjustable aperture, the S9 will be able to do things with photography the X can't. Without reviews we don't know the overall quality of the camera, but there is no question Samsung is doing some really nice things with their cameras.

I totally agree with this, Apple may update older phones faster but they become obsolete after the update. Samsung takes more time because of the Android platform, however looks like they don't plan to kill previous models with software.

I have a S8, with the Oreo update I expect it will run faster. Can anybody say the same about iOS updates?

So having a high price tag attached to your phone for the whole year than getting a discounted price on a flagship plus some intresting gifts is more appealing to you?

I see, well this must make you feel superior then:

*Accessories sold separately including basically everything you'll need, MacBook Pro touchbar style

OR

When Apple releases updates. All non-obsolete iPhones get the update, ........ and then become obsolete.
When Samsung releases updates. Only the newest, mosty shiny phones get the release........ except that is not true. (I have a S8)

Do not buy Galaxy phones unless you want to be behind a year from now...... and do not buy iPhones unless you want them to become obsolete every year.

:D

That’s not what the article says

Hence my question.

FWIW I have been shooting semi-professionaly for 10 years, mostly in Motorsports. I do See huge advantage of variable aperture, just not in low light as the article highlights. I also don’t see much overall benefit given the narrow range offered in this phone, but agree it is a good step forward in mobile phone cameras.

Are y'all confused on aperature? f1.5 is pretty gigantic for a phone, it will absolutely help out with low light. It's not fully variable either, it only has two settings, f1.5 (low light situations) and f2.4 (bright light situtations)

Even though it's a narrow range it's twice as much compensation for light conditions than previously offered.

With the next release, I think FaceID will be even faster and more accurate. I look forward to it, as FaceID is around 95% accurate first time for me. I see that as a win for a first release.

Yeah - though to be clear, my issue wasn't accuracy or speed. It was UI/UX related. The excellent X hardware as currently supported by iOS 11 involved more manipulations from me when the phone was set up the way I want it. But similarly to your post, I expect that Apple will tweak and clean up the UI for better efficiency.

Not at all what I said --> Try again please..

I said Samsung's are always on sale at release and offer up goodies or discounts to get people to buy. Apple does not so again, ask yourself why this is....

Could it be because Samsung feels they need to do this to make sales? Samsung is a business and counts every cent. When they give you something for free that cuts into their bottom line. Basic math really... Or do you truly believe Samsung is offering you all these freebies because they genuinely want to hook you up?

Because unlike Apple people who purchase Android phones want to get their money Worth not just trash it into a bin like most Apple buyers do.
Samsung does their own strategy to gather people to buy their products, and that is fine, unlike Apple which doesn't offer any value for the money, sells you something overpriced that keeps the same price for years and still rip you off with external accessories.

This will also help out in bright sunny situations. I'm using the Note 8 which has f1.7 camera. Sometimes I feel it lets too much light in, which fades the shot. f2.4 would solve that issue.

Or maybe I'm just talking nonsense. I'm no expert in photography.
