Airpods - Gear IconX (2016)
Apple Watch - Galaxy Gear (2013)
iPhone X Face ID, gesture UI - Android Ice Cream Sandwich (2011)
iPhone X bending OLED - Every Android phone since 2010
iPad Pro - 120hz screen Useless, same argument iPhone fans been saying about OLED and high resolution screens on a phone/tablet.
A Series Chips - Chips are always improving and Samsung and Qualcomm are already using the latest manufacturing process.

I don't see any innovation here, just the use of good technologies that were already being used.
120hz screen is useless?? holy **** dude you are clueless!

Yes, Samsung has comparable offerings. They are mostly garbage. Everyone is aware of that. There is a reason Apple sells more products, they are better products.

I don't claim 6 months as that was an arbitrary number for when I estimated sales of a new phone would start to serious dip and sales be needed. It's that happens at 4 months then it happens. But sales immediately after announcement indicate something, that's for sure.

Imagine if seconds after the X was announced Apple had a $100 off sale before it was even shipping. The X haters would be saying it's the demise of the X, proof the notch is terrible, etc, etc, etc..

My son has had every Samsung since the SII Skyrocket (terrible name for sure)... Been to any Samsung forum lately?

Asside. from that, AT&T just replaced his S7 for the 3rd time and this is S7 number 4 since he bought it.

This is my worry with going to Android. The promise of Dex and full Linux desktop distro is VERY promising and enticing but I'm not sure I'm ready for the issues. S7 was very prone to having weak MicroUSB ports ... or was that the S6?

For now I'm sticking to iPhone ... but I'd like to see much more advances. Animoji, for all it's superiority from Sony/Samsung's attempts in MWC 2018 I don't find as an advancement that appeals to me.

On a tablet yes, 120hz+ screens are good on a PC for gaming. I know as I own a 144hz screen.

Not really, selling more doesn't mean it's better only means most follow what others buy, take for example the Airpods tons of pre-orders even before reviews and people knowing what they would be capable of.
Don't forget that all products improve over time that doesn't mean they are or were garbage. I highly doubt Apple releases a perfect product who is not mistaken for garbage sometimes.

Theory is one thing, real life another one. If people blindly followed 100% what schools said we'd still be in the stone age.
Ok, maybe I wasn't clear enough: that looks random and disgusting for anyone with a little care for design, which may not include anyone with more than $700 to spend on a phone but should definitely include Samsung's flagship designers.

No. I switched to CDs, used Minidisc and now flash memory.

Whats the successor to the 3.5mm jack? Some crappy headphones with garbage sound quality you need to constantly charger and then buy a new pair once the battery doesn't hold a charge?

That's not a successor. Try harder.
You have to recharge batteries? I had no idea Plus you have the option to use wired headphones since iPhone's come with lighting port headphones, but I don't use those as I live in 2018 and time moves forward btw

This whole headphone jack debate is still killing me. I'm 31 years old, and I work in the medical field with other younger workers that use a lot of Apple products (watches and phones), and literally nobody ever says anything about the headphone jack. Everyone just owns bluetooth headphones.

There are probably a few people that were annoyed at first, but most of the younger millennial tech users (which is what Apple is marketing to) have gotten over it by now.
I'm not a millenial and have "gotten over it", but that doesn't mean I have to like it. For example, a few weeks ago my BT earphones ran out of battery while listening to an audiobook in the middle of a transcontinental flight, and of course the 2.5mm adapter was unreachable in my checked bag. If my iPhone had a headphone jack, I simply could have asked a flight attendant for a pair of those cheap airline earbuds. I also had numerous occasions where I only had my BT earphones due to being an iPhone 8 user, but wanted to plug in to something with a headphone jack (e.g. an inflight entertainment system or a colleague's laptop) and of course didn't have cabled earphones. I guess because of Apple's "courage" I'm now supposed to carry two pairs of earphones plus adapters at all times?

The thing is that the 2.5mm jack is still ubiquitous, no matter what Apple does. It was just completely unnecessary to take away this option. Dropping all USB-A ports on the latest Macbook Pros was a similarly stupid decision. After 1.5 years, USB-C is still exotic for computers and USB-A is still ubiquitous. I can't count the number of occasions where someone gave me a USB stick and I was unable to read it because I didn't have the stupid adapter with me.

So? What's your point? All I'm saying is that the notch gives you more display. Never said anything about screen to body ratio

You think the notch actually gives you more display. Have you seen all the videos on the notch and how it shrinks your video? You are losing real estate from it. Some apple fans are so diehard, they are willing to accept anything apple does. The notch is horrible design.

"Androids and more specifically Samsungs are ALWAYS on sale... Even before they are released! LOL..."

You found that funny and seemingly mocking Android manufacturers for doing these sales. Am I wrong? Or why was that so funny to you?

Try again. It was obvious to me and other posters you were laughing at them having to do sales. I welcome all sales as a consumer. Fortunately for Apple you prefer to pay full price.
Samsung just prices their phone at a certain price then sells them at

LOL too bad every android person is stuck on a software released in 2015

Same happened to me, but my phone's battery died and my wired headphones were useless

What is so horrible about it? It's not dumbed down enough for you? It's so open and you have so many choices that it can complicate your life?

And iOS 11 has been a dream? Come on, iOS 11 has been the worst release for Apple ever. They had never had so many updates to fix so many issues before. They need to clean this mess up.

I'm in the market for an ~$750 phone. I'm going to wait and see what the rumored full-screen display LCD model from Apple looks like compared to this device. If Apple makes a worthy competitor to the S9 then I'll get one. On the other hand, if the LCD model is crippled in processor, camera, and storage then I'll give the S9 a try.

The lack of dramatic new hardware changes further proves that software/services will be the X-factor from now on.

Did you miss the new camera technology? I would call that dramatic hardware changes. Or were you talking about the form factor of the overall phone itself? Any other changes would be changes for change sake, and nobody wants that.

What does that say about you as a consumer not liking discounts or freebies?

Never understood that mental handicap when it comes to phone only because I highly doubt people brag about paying sticker price for a new car and how profitable they are to a car dealership.

Couldn't resist, I love these statements (not sure if sarcastic) lol. I'm giving Apple one more update to fix CarPlay and if it isn't addressed, am selling my iPhone X and will just get the SE for occasional FaceTime use. Having a $1000 phone serve as my "back up" device doesn't sit well with me. It has been broken since the first 11.0 update (2018 Audi on latest MMI software). I also hate Samsung software but have never had problems with them. The screens are best in class and ergonomics of the S8 I think are perfect, aside from wonky finger print sensor placement. Samsung Pay seems fairly ubiquitous too.

Re: the headphone jack, why can't people just keep the lightning dongle attached to their headphone cord? It isn't exactly large or intrusive and stays put pretty nicely, and you won't have to worry about misplacing it? That's what I do with my iPhone and Pixel, never had any issues with it.

I get it. Samsung’s offerings still don’t compare to the Apple Watch, iPhone X, iPad Pro, or AirPods. Just because they weren’t first, doesn’t mean it isn’t innovation. The original iPhone was a culmination of existing tech, still innovative.

Gawd, that is an ugly piece of hardware. I'm no fan of the notch on iphone, but the samsung solution to "full screen" is even uglier. Just a weird combination of retaining bezels on top and bottom, but then rounding the corners on the screen, creating awkwardly shaped bezels. Oh, and the stupid wrap around glass... why? It has no function, and ain't even just cool as a gimmick.
