That wallpaper from the video is almost identical to the one from the iPhone 6 box in 2015. Seriously, they need to start being more creative with marketing.
Sure doesHey look a reasonably priced flagship.
Does it have a headphone jack though...
Smartphone innovation has become boring and not very innovative.
Face ID isn't secure either so it's no better than Android face unlock that came before. For single factor authentication iris > fingerprint > face but best is multi-factor authentication with combination of iris + fingerprint.
The lack of dramatic new hardware changes further proves that software/services will be the X-factor from now on.
Amazing cameras. Can't wait to see the comparison between the S9 and iPhone X.
A lot of Galaxy S8 owners I'm seeing on social media are saying they are switching to iPhone after this snoozefest. Samsung has no new ideas and people seem to be sick of all the Sbloat.
And why would it? It's an Android phone. It's not supposed to be the same experience.Yet with all those beefed up specs and CPU, it still doesn't deliver the same experience as an iPhone.
Todays smart phones have matured to the point where small changes are the norm. This includes Apple. I'm surprised how many people feel the need to spend so much money on a device which, in the end, doesn't do anything for them than what came before. So the same thing as the S8 with some old camera tricks. Probably a fine phone, but I’m surprised how little Samsung is criticized when they make little to no changes to phones and software for years.
Sanctimonious, much? The latest bloatware special. The unwashed should like it.
Another year, another cooler looking phone from Samsung. :/
And why would it? It's an Android phone. It's not supposed to be the same experience.
Disagree. The S6, S7, S8, and now S9 are all refinements on the previous generations. Smartphone technology has matured to the point where refinements are where it's at. Both with Android and Apple. Not true.
They are on more of a tick tock strategy now. The S6 was a dramatic redesign, the S7 refined it. The S8 was a dramatic redesign, and the S9 refines it. Next year will likely be something more dramatic again.
Max aperture is max aperture. How is variable (ie ability to close the lens) going to help in low light, when it reduces the ability for it to pull in light.
Good bump on the other features, but more proof that the smartphone market is essentially Mature.
I don't have a problem with my Android slowing down after a few days of usage.Because my experience with a brand new Galaxy phone has been nothing but terrible (work given phone mind you). The speed of the OS slows down to a crawl after a few days of usage. Not to mention doing anything is beyond not intuitive.
After a few months of using it, I "forced" my HR & Supply Chain depts to give me an iPhone instead as doing any work on that piece of garbage was maddening.

Learn about what FaceID is.Samsung had "faceid" for a long time. Apple copied that.
First I saw the + symbol with Samsung was the Galaxy S6 edge+ in 2015.Has Samsung always used the '+' to denote the larger phone?
They won't sell as many phones that way. Might as well just keep your phone for years if all they really improve is the software. There won't be any reason to upgrade every year, every 2 years or even every 3 years. If software is all they improve, they will need the new software to overload the older phones causing major slowdowns. Oh wait, they do.I Don’t think every iteration of a smart phone needs to become ‘innovative’. I think smart phone manufacturers need to refine the user experience through software services, as hardware is not really much of a concern. It’s the software experience that will keep the user retaining what they like about android or iOS.
