Everyone I know that's moved to a Fold loves it. A lady in my office even utterly hated her iPhone and moved to a new Fold 4 last week. Shes not even a techy person AT ALL. I even know a few people that carry a Gen 1 Surface folding phone (forget the name) as an e-reader/multi tasker. Samsung/Google are working pretty close to make sure that the foldables are making use of a more Tablet based UI so that its a good experience. Its great for using a messaging app while also browsing the web or watching a video, or doing an email while looking at something you are referencing on a 2nd screen. Masically, great at multi tasking when you need it. Not everyone wants to carry both a phone and tablet at all times as separate devices.

A feature YOU dont use /= gimmick. If that was the case ALL phone cameras would be just a gimmick as I personally have 0 use for them. Specially selfie cameras. I mean headphones jacks are just gimmicks right? I sure never use one. Same with Spatial Audio.

People here acting like its a 'gimmick' when its been rumored Apple is working on a foldable for a while now. Im sure it wont be a 'gimmick' once Apple drops one.

Nah, last time I used a Samsung phone (S10 or something .. I cant remember) I hated the experience. I just had to help a friend of mine disable the ads that kept popping up on his phone from the Samsung bloat installed.

A $1000 phone. With ads. From Samsung.

Nah .. I'll pass.

And yes, it was ads delivered BY the Samsung apps. It wasn't some janky bloat from some app he installed, it was like this because Samsung is delivering ads.

Edit: If you need to disable ads on your new samsung device, you can follow this article, it worked for my friend.

Why the desperation? Geez, they already corner the market in developing countries with their A and S series. They just want more, more, more. Let Apple be Apple. Don’t try coercing anybody into buying your phones. It’s an ecosystem, we like it and it works.
Actually, this doesn't specifically target Apple at all. Even the phone at the end isn't an iPhone. I think you just felt specifically targeted.

I looked at them at the store the other day. I was actually surprised how valuable they look, especially the one in gold. Opening and closing them gives you some weird kind of sensation haha doesnt seem cheap at all. People were actually waiting in line to check them out.

Unfortunately I have so many phones, I cannot justify getting a new phone

Its because the margins on those cheap devices are almost non existent. Apple may only have 1/5 of the global market, but they swallow up like 70-75% of all profits because they sell so many high end phones.

You must be new to the world of advertising.

It's better than Samsung's previous ad. It's at least clever but about a minute too long. The ending ruins it though.

I love how the only benefit they mentioned is “it’s great for group shots”.

How is it great for group shots though, you gonna place your folded phone on the ground? Lmao

Samsung. LOL.

I saw a Fold for the first time in the wild. The crease was really noticeable and distracting. Indeed, I think the product should be called the 'Crease'. To each their own, but it is not for me.

I am hoping apple releases a fold. If they can get it right it would be amazing. I know there a ton of people that think it’s a gimmick, but it would be the equivalent of. 60 inch tv being a gimmick. The phone would offer more acreen real estate and would be a huge benefit to my parents as they get older. I’ve looked at their phones with the font size set to max and the UX is a garbled mess. If they had a apple flip it would make their lives so much better.

If you don't know who they are targeting, I don't know what to tell you. It is totally obvious.

Can tell you never owed 1
Different commenter here. I haven't owned one but I know 3 people who have them. They all have creases in the screens. It's not really that noticeable most of the time but the creases are there.

Also, the screens crack: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...flip-3-screen-cracked-along-fold/td-p/4396451

This might be rare for now but it's an issue for people.

I like the idea of folding phones. I just don't think we're quite there yet with the technology or implementation.

If you want a foldable phone, get a foldable phone. I personally wouldn't get any phone from Samsung, but that's mostly because I find their software annoying and don't care for the aesthetics. But other people do, so good for them 👍
My guess is that these campaigns are directed at Apple as much as they are Apple users. Samsung would love to supply foldable displays for an iPhone. They seem to have fixed most of the early flaws. The main questions are whether they could make 80 million of these a year at an affordable price (figure these would be a “Pro” feature), and whether they will hold up over 2 years.

Not sure why people here are so triggered by these commercials. People forgot all about Mac VS PC ads back in the day I guess.
I'm not *buzzword of the day* "triggered" by it. I just find it comical how Samsung has to take shots at Apple 24/7. Kinda like how the Android fans troll this forum. You don't see Apple mentioning Samsung in any ads and you don't really see Apple fans trolling Android forums the same way. Kinda tells you which side is jealous of the other.

Not really. It just continues the trend of Apple living rent free in Samsung's head. They just can't stop mentioning them. Really shows which company is way ahead. Hint, it isn't Samsung.
If Apple did release a folding phone, they’d likely get their displays from Samsung. They are basically begging Apple for the business.
