Because it reduces the height of the phone or width of the tablet by half. Why would I want to double the thickness of my phone?
If that doesn't appeal to you, don't worry about it.

nah. this type of marketing is something no one will care the next day. typical low college level marketingI’m in marketing and the marketing department did their job…made a unique ad that highlights their product in a funny way without bashing too hard.
Personally, I would never buy a Samsung (ha) but I will say it was a memorable ad.
Honestly, nothing against Samsung. I’m an old dog that’s already too exhausted from kids and learning new things for work (happily). I just need my trusted device to work without learning something new again. Something in my life I’d at least like it to stay constant. Also I like the fact that I can break my phone and have it fixed within a day or two.I don’t know who we’re all trying to kid - we’re pretty stubborn, but for good reason. Ye olde walled garden is a nice place to spend time.
“Gimmicky” does not mean “doesn’t work”There’s no gimmicks. It does as advertised
I get what you're saying about iPhone scale on the number side, but Samsung wouldn't necessarily need to crank out 80 million screens, unless Apple was adopting it across the entire lineup. But yeah, I think the durability is a big issue likely yet to be fully worked out. I'd also be curious to see how Apple would manage the software changes as well. We know Apple has worked on foldable devices internally, I'd be curious to know what they're thinking is ie is it a "This trend is going to die out, no need to pursue it" or "This trend has potential, but hardware consistency/reliability isn't there yet."My guess is that these campaigns are directed at Apple as much as they are Apple users. Samsung would love to supply foldable displays for an iPhone. They seem to have fixed most of the early flaws. The main questions are whether they could make 80 million of these a year at an affordable price (figure these would be a “Pro” feature), and whether they will hold up over 2 years.
So why are you hereAlready did. Bought 2. Will never go back to a slab.
For the same reason you fold your currency notes and probably your wallet, it's just convenientWhy would I want to double the thickness of my phone?
There was not a single mention of an iPhone (or Apple) in the ad. There wasn't even an iPhone in sight, the phone she was using at the end (not the fold) was a Galaxy S22.Not really. It just continues the trend of Apple living rent free in Samsung's head. They just can't stop mentioning them. Really shows which company is way ahead. Hint, it isn't Samsung.
It does seem like college or even high school students made it. The same way Samsung constantly thinking about Apple reminds me of high school.nah. this type of marketing is something no one will care the next day. typical low college level marketing
And yet you're here, so which company is really getting to which fans?Lol all these posts...on MACrumors.
Big S is getting to you.
Is it though? It is interchangeable with last week's "hehe we're better than apple hehe" ad and the same as the week before. They just do the same thing over and over in the ads. This ad is great.
