I’m in marketing and the marketing department did their job…made a unique ad that highlights their product in a funny way without bashing too hard.

Personally, I would never buy a Samsung (ha) but I will say it was a memorable ad.

I joined the fold side and don't regret it for a minute. Can't see myself going back to traditional slabs after experiencing the convenience of having a phone and tablet in a portable form factor.

nah. this type of marketing is something no one will care the next day. typical low college level marketing

I don’t know who we’re all trying to kid - we’re pretty stubborn, but for good reason. Ye olde walled garden is a nice place to spend time.
Honestly, nothing against Samsung. I’m an old dog that’s already too exhausted from kids and learning new things for work (happily). I just need my trusted device to work without learning something new again. Something in my life I’d at least like it to stay constant. Also I like the fact that I can break my phone and have it fixed within a day or two.

My guess is that these campaigns are directed at Apple as much as they are Apple users. Samsung would love to supply foldable displays for an iPhone. They seem to have fixed most of the early flaws. The main questions are whether they could make 80 million of these a year at an affordable price (figure these would be a “Pro” feature), and whether they will hold up over 2 years.
I get what you're saying about iPhone scale on the number side, but Samsung wouldn't necessarily need to crank out 80 million screens, unless Apple was adopting it across the entire lineup. But yeah, I think the durability is a big issue likely yet to be fully worked out. I'd also be curious to see how Apple would manage the software changes as well. We know Apple has worked on foldable devices internally, I'd be curious to know what they're thinking is ie is it a "This trend is going to die out, no need to pursue it" or "This trend has potential, but hardware consistency/reliability isn't there yet."

Well if you haven’t ever experienced the Samsung Flip 4, you sincerely are missing out on some fun, innovative, thoughtful, and interesting yet amazing technology. Just being honest….I have Apple’s boring/stale tech so can’t say I don’t have experience with iDevices.

Hmm everyone is “flipping” out over the Samsung Flip or Fold on this thread lol. And some of you state that it’s a gimmick, the gimmick is the large pill cutout/dynamic island used for notifications on the new iPhone. Who cares about another way to present notifications and some cute graphical animations that will age quicker than you think. “Wait! more notifications on the new but old (tech wise) always on display as well wow what a upgrade!”

The new iPhone is the same phone as ever with a camera upgrade while using display animations for notifications to cover up that it now has a highly animated larger detached notch.

Not really. It just continues the trend of Apple living rent free in Samsung's head. They just can't stop mentioning them. Really shows which company is way ahead. Hint, it isn't Samsung.
There was not a single mention of an iPhone (or Apple) in the ad. There wasn't even an iPhone in sight, the phone she was using at the end (not the fold) was a Galaxy S22.

It does seem like college or even high school students made it. The same way Samsung constantly thinking about Apple reminds me of high school.

This ad is great.

But that doesn’t change the fact folding phones are just a fad. But fads can still sell a lot of phones

I am enjoying the Samsung fans saying this ad doesn't mention Apple. If you don't know who they are referring to, you're playing dumb or well yeah.

I don’t think Apple believes there’s a market for these chunky folds. After 4 years of their introduction we would have at least some indication that showed Apple’s interest in the segment.
