I like the idea of a flip phone but the screens need major improvement before they are practical. If my fingernail can damage the screen, it's a hard pass for me.

If you want a foldable phone, get a foldable phone. I personally wouldn't get any phone from Samsung, but that's mostly because I find their software annoying and don't care for the aesthetics. But other people do, so good for them 👍
Yeah same for me. Love my iphone as well and I do not like their software either it is indeed annoying, the apple interfaces just make sense for my hardwiring of my brain/visual cortex LOL. But yes a number of folks do like them Nice to have choices I guess

Well your fingernails cannot damage the screen otherwise this device would not be sold lol unless you have Dracula-like nails that are more like claws instead of nails.

Everyone I know that's moved to a Fold loves it. A lady in my office even utterly hated her iPhone and moved to a new Fold 4 last week. Shes not even a techy person AT ALL. I even know a few people that carry a Gen 1 Surface folding phone (forget the name) as an e-reader/multi tasker. Samsung/Google are working pretty close to make sure that the foldables are making use of a more Tablet based UI so that its a good experience. Its great for using a messaging app while also browsing the web or watching a video, or doing an email while looking at something you are referencing on a 2nd screen. Masically, great at multi tasking when you need it. Not everyone wants to carry both a phone and tablet at all times as separate devices.

A feature YOU dont use /= gimmick. If that was the case ALL phone cameras would be just a gimmick as I personally have 0 use for them. Specially selfie cameras. I mean headphones jacks are just gimmicks right? I sure never use one. Same with Spatial Audio.

People here acting like its a 'gimmick' when its been rumored Apple is working on a foldable for a while now. Im sure it wont be a 'gimmick' once Apple drops one.
I don’t foresee me changing to android anytime but I really am intrigued by the design. That being said I’ve actually heard similar things to you but with a bad ending. I heard everyone loves their foldable phones at first but they say the crease gets more noticeable/worse within a year. I was actually shocked to hear that because 1) I don’t see anyone talk about it 2) My coworker has had his for about half a year and I don’t see a difference in crease. I also have to disagree with you on multitasking and this is not regarding the flip phone exclusively. I can’t even multitask on a full sized iPad, there’s simply not enough screen real estate. The only great multitasking touch screen device is the iPad Pro 12”.

Samsung literally warns you on the phone itself not to use your fingernail on the screen.

No one’s fingernail is ruining the screen. If so, most Americans have decent hygiene hopefully and keep there nails cut. I don’t use my nails on any display. We use the tip of our fingers even on the iPhone. Try to scratch a iPhone and try to scratch a Flip, I am doing so now since I have both devices on hand and cannot make a dent in either and my nails are cut neat, short and clean.

Maybe take a quick trip to the nail salon if this still is perceived as a problem for you.

Is this going to be one of the ads that will be deleted/hidden/set to private soon? Just like previous Samsung ad Ingenius...

You're welcome to make excuses as needed to defend your purchase. When Samsung no longer needs to include warning stickers on how fragile the screen is, we can talk.

I have too many years and money invested into the iOS ecosystem to even want to consider moving over. I use a Mac and the entire ecosystem is not worth messing with to get a non-iPhone. I’m not against other people ditching an iPhone, but I won’t be.

For everyone saying they love the Flip4, I think many are trying to justify their purchase. I've seen them in store and tried them out. I don't think I speak alone in the fact that I have no interest in constantly flipping my phone to open/close the screen.

I always tend to poop on these Apple presentations for giving themselves praise for year old features (low power mode is a feature?).
But the passive aggressive slam against Android about how they are still struggling to match the iPhone 11 chip, was a masterclass!

I have a Fold3 and I'm going back to an iPhone after being gone for three or four years (had a Note20 before the Fold3). When I first got the Fold3 I thought it was the best thing even and truly felt kind of like a device from the future. Now, not so much. There is a crease in the middle, it's not bad but it is there, and unfortunately I am getting small cracks in that area. It's massive, like insanely thick and heavy, thought I cold get used to it but I can't. And one thing that oddly no one is talking about but the third party app support is terrible... No one other then a small few seems interested in foldable phones. I even had issues with Microsoft's apps and they have a foldable phone... I finally saw an article on Sammobile's website right before the Fold4 was announced saying Samsung was talking with third party app developers and helping them with their apps so I guess that's good. I have a hard time believing that Apple will release a foldable anytime within the next two years. And anybody wondering about the under display camera I can assure you it's not very good, again probably not another two years before Apple considers them good enough to invest in.

Can tell you never owed 1

You are right... most of us commenting have never owned one and to tell you the truth, I don't plan on owning one. I have seen enough in the wild, whether version one or... they haven't held up, antidotal of course, but it still doesn't change my mind. I don't like their software, and I don't like them as a whole. So no, I have not owned one and don't plan on owning one.

So, you're basically talking out of you a? Makes sense...
