I’ve had AirPods for a little over a year and I love them with some caveats.

I’ve found worth the Apple *Pods you either love the fit or you hate it. I liked the fit so much, I actually bought standalone EarPods when they were first released. The fit and feel has always been, by far, my favorite.

I have never managed to find a pair of in ear buds that were comfortable or stayed in, so the Samsung buds would be right out for me. More than any other factor though, comfort seems to be key with these devices and it’s very personal.

AirPods are super handy and in addition to being my favorite workout/walk headphones, it’s my favorite headset too. The sound quality is meh. The battery life is meh. I wish they came in black or some other color that made them less noticeable because they look lame. (Samsung’s look less lame.) As others have commented the Bluetooth range on AirPods is awesome.

I’m glad to see more of these devices in general. On the move they’re just great.

With the Galaxy Wear app on a Samsung device, you can see battery level and choose different equalizer presets, a feature not offered on the AirPods. With AirPods, you can see battery level natively when paired with an iOS device, but there's no accompanying app for making adjustments to sound.

You are wrong, EQ can be found in Settings/Music/playback.

They even COPIED the UI for pairing LOLLLLL

Not even tried to put it on the top to disguise.

galaxybuds2-800x450.jpg

yeah that ui copying is not fun. its kinda boring - would love to see samsung with some more fancy ideas , apple things look so overly clean and almost steril nowadays

Other than the fact they are both “pens”, Apple Pencil and S Pen are nothing alike. Different technology, different design, different ergonomy - different usage case (you can use Apple Pencil professionally).

With Galaxy Buds, they copied AirPods almost feature by feature. Even the pairing screen looks the same.

So no, not “like this”. Apple sometimes takes ideas and makes them their own, sometimes just follows the market. But Samsung blatantly copies their biggest rival.

In my experience ..... Galaxy Buds vs AirPods

Fit ... Galaxy Buds.

Reliable fit ... Galaxy Buds.

Wow, they must fit so well that you counted it twice.

Seems the buds are better then air pods in every possible way aside from case battery life

Air pods 2 need to be good

The article talks of "several" features the galaxy buds have over airpods, but goes on to mention only one - charging of the case through the phone. Any other features?

I'm no audiophile, I have no real clue or interest in the science behind what goes into creating awesome audio and audio technology. But I' am one that enjoys good sounding audio and can't really stand listening to tin-can sound audio so I'm more often than not willing to pay more than the average person in order to get audio that I enjoy listening to.

I have two sets of Apple AirPod's. One set at home and one set at work. Why? Because they really excel for calls. They have some really decent microphones that don't pick up all kind of background noise while they still sound decent all while the AirPod's themselves stays comfortably in my ears and provide me with decent audio quality.

It's not the best at really anything in terms of pure quality, but it's not bad at anything either. And the ease of use and the range that the Apple W1 chip provides makes them my preferred choice for every scenario where phone calls and voice might come into question. I hate using closed-back headphones or in-ears for calls as it feels so unnatural to have conversations when your ears are sealed and you can't really hear your own voice while talking.

For listening to audio they aren't my preferred choice. The audio is a bit too boomy for my liking but I could learn to live with that. My biggest problem with them is the one thing that makes them my preferred choice for voice and that's the complete lack of seal. I can't use AirPod's while commuting, can't really use them outside at all as it would result in me having to blast the volume at stupid levels in order to be able to hear anything at all.

But I have tested some top-of-the-line "truly wireless" options and none at all that great. The best I've tried are the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless but the battery life is so unreliable. Sometimes it feels you get almost twice the amount of listening time compared to the day before even-though it feels like you are using them the exact same. A lot of times one ear-piece won't be charging within the case but there are no way for you to actually verify that both are fitted properly. You can't turn them off or put them into a low-power mode. The only way for them to turn them off is by putting them inside the case so for days where I forgot to bring the case they would just have to sit idle and drain the battery until dead. So there was no way for me to make sure that they had battery life for my commute back home..

And true in-ear wireless earbuds aren't all that practical. When in situations where I simply have to pull one ear-piece out because I'm responding to a conversation or whatnot. What do you actually do with the earpiece? It so small and tiny that I just end up dropping it most of the time. The AirPod's are way easier to handle in such situations because of the "stem" that makes them so much easier to hold and not drop. The fact that the AirPod's aren't sealing your ears also means that you don't really have to take them out in order to hear stuff in the first place, I can just leave them in.

My current solution is to use my Shure SE846 in-ears with the new Shure RMCE-BT2 bluetooth adapter. The previous bluetooth adapter (RMCE-BT) was horrible. So much background noise. But this new one is great. Battery life is decent and as it's a adapter with a cable going on the back of your neck or in-front your chest you can easily take out one ear-piece and just drop it as it will just hang by the cord. The only downside is the horrible range when compared to Apple W1 and of course the microphone is more or less useless as the microphone on every headphone and earbuds besides the Apple AirPod's.....

I’ve seen this repeated a few times lately, i.e. that there is no volume control on Airpods, there is. Just double tap and say “increase / decrease volume X%” Easy.

[/QUOTE]

“Samsung's Galaxy Buds support customizable gestures just like the AirPods do. A tap plays or pauses music, a double tap plays the next track or answers/ends a call, a triple tap plays the previous track, and a tap and hold accesses the voice assistant, turns on ambient sound, or adjusts the volume. On AirPods, many of these same gestures are supported, but there's no tap gesture for changing volume.”

They look almost the same as air pods- sorry you didn't catch that, The case and in white??
come on man, of course all ear phones look more or less similar to each other, because they are designed to go inside human ear, and human ears are the same everywhere you go.that's not copying.

same goes for the case.it's like you call a backpack or a shoe copy of another one just because their
general shape and form is similar.
copy is what those Chinese knock offs are that exactly look like Airpods, not these.

and then you say Samsung copied Apple because Galaxy buds are white?!?:D since when color is a trademark? besides,Galaxy buds come in black and yellow..so if Apple makes black Airpods as rumored, would you say they copied Samsung?
So did Apple copy Samsung making "phablet" size iPhone Plus?

For one, you can completely customize each earbud through the settings (Sound/highs/lows, equalizer) also which notifications you want read ect on the phone, something which is not an option to the AirPods to customize those features.

Careful, you're just asking for a flame war with those who think Apple are nothing but a marketing company who are always late to the party.
Unless, like me, you enjoy baiting them... I'll throw a line out while I'm here.
Total rip off as usual. Let Apple be avant-garde, let apple take the heat, flames and criticism then come waltzing in a few years later with something identical and try to take all the credit.
Flame on critters...
how is GalaxyBuds a total rip off? they are earphones, all earphones will look similar..did you expect them to make something that is supposed to fit inside ears, triangle shaped? or did you want the charging case to be size of a suitcase so it's different that Airpods case? or maybe you think complete wireless earphones with no cord should only be made by Apple?
or maybe you believe color white blongs to Apple and whoever makes something white is copying Apple?:D
if anything the Galaxy Buds earphone's shape itself is very different than Airpods..same goes for the case.

so in your world, all smart phones are copy of one another because they are all square shaped devices with display in front and battery inside..

so with that way of thinking, you should also admit that Apple copied Samsung by making iPhone Plus,by using OLED displays, and copied others by making Apple pencil, edge to edge display, etc etc

PS:I own Airpods and iPhone and iPad and Apple Watch and Macbook

He didn't write anything amusing so no fake and forced laugh is needed.

Well, saying battery life is better on buds when apparently the case only holds 7 hours of battery versus 24 hours of battery life on the Apple one is just plain laughable. And you never said why! And don't get me started on the design! And the case is larger for the buds! But as you said, this is based on your experience and opinion so no point arguing about it.

1-2 hours extra of continuous usage trumps how many times the case can charge them.

As elsewhere in electronics for years- Samsung just copies a successful USA product instead for inventing something on their own...

You are.... joking right?

South East Asian countries (Japan etc but particulalry South Korea) are MILES ahead of the USA when it comes to technology and their advances in this field. As are many Western European countries these days.
