Same. I can't stand the curved screen. Just for starters, it makes it pretty much impossible to use a glass screen protector (which I prefer over using a screen naked).

I did the test drive program and tried the S6 Edge and the curved screen just got in the way. You can't hold the device without covering the screen. I like some bezel.
and what makes the curved glass on the iPhone any different with a screen protector? They still are hideous on every curved phone including the curved iPhone glass.
no screen protectors since 2009 and loving it. I tried one on my iPhone 3g but took it off after a month or two.

I just switched to a Galaxy S8+ after only ever owning iPhones. I love it; the OS is stable and fluid. I can't see myself going back to an iPhone.

I have done the same, but got the standard S. I love it. That being said there is a lot of stuff I miss from iOS and if the iPhone 8 will be what it is rumored to be I can see myself switching back in a heartbeat.

I don't get why they have note brand anymore with S8+ which has a 6.2 inch screen already. I saw S8+ as a re-branded Note. They could have just put the pen in it and done away with the Note branding.

There are no "pro apple" comments because I made this account when I was considering making the switch to an Android; by that point, I was unhappy with the company for several reasons, and so I finally switched to the S8 this year after much deliberation. I love Apple, but I will not support the company blindly and I hope the S8 encourages Tim Cook to think outside the box.
If having the Fingerprint reader is 'thinking out of the box' then I'll pass on that particular box.
It just won't work for me and my particular use case. If Apple follow suit and release a device with it on the back then I'll pass on ever buying that device.
That a good enough rational argument for you?

I bought an S8+ because I'm honestly not expecting anything too exciting from Apple in the fall. I originally planned on getting the Note 8 but got the S8+ instead. I'll keep on using my Note 5 for another year as well plus, my 6S and 6S+ will last another year.

Everything beyond 4" is just too big.
There's a joke in there somewhere.

I thought the same thing too about phone displays. I bought an SE about 3 months ago because I really liked the size of my old 5S. I haven't used it with an activated sim card in the past two months. It's just sitting there. I seriously can;t get enough of the bigger display on my old Note 5 and my S8+.

Which apps that you used crashed frequently? I have my S8+ for 2 months and never experienced once an app crashing or phone self-reboot/hanging. Just checked my phone has been up for 23 days now since last reboot and there is no lag (only occasional micro-stutters).

I have the S8 since release day. Apps do crash, particularity Instagram crashes on my phone all the times for some strange reasons. But I still love the phone for one reason mainly. That gorgeous screen. OS imperfections do not get much on my way of enjoying this phone. However if Apple put this display on the iPhone 8, I will switch back instantly.

I have the S7 and apps never crash. I don't use Instagram though. Excellent phone and good OS. I would buy it again a zillion times.

Looks amazing except the fingerprint scanner next to the camera, so you touch the camera every time you unlock, is silly. Google got it right with the fingerprint scanner below the camera on the Nexus 5X and 6P and Pixel.

That August 23 date was no accident. They're trying to rush the release before the iPhone announcement, and it always turns out poorly. They tried that **** with the note 7 and the batteries exploded. I really want to like Samsung products, so please let this release go well.

I still don't see the attraction of curved screens.

I checked some of them out, including Samsung, at my local Best Buy recently and the massive color shifting that occurs at the curved edges instantly turned me away. No thanks.

I don't think they're great when the apps aren't built with them in mind. Android and the apps you would use on this device are built with a flat screen in mind (like iPhone).

Two months old Galaxy S8 demo phones already have visible burn-in lines on the screen, I am really intrigued how Apple will deal with it on the awaited OLED iPhone. Otherwise, specswise, Samsung top of the line devices are just superb.

Can I ask you something: Why did you continue to visit an Apple centric website if you were unhappy with Apple?
.
Because we want Apple to be fantastic again, we want to believe, want to love. But, at best they're coasting, at worse falling behind the industry in innovation

My Samsung Galaxy S2 was stable and fluid for the first few months, as was everyone else i knew with one. Then it starts to go bad and you want to throw the phone through a window as they lock up, freeze, go red hot and by 18 months its a heap of junk you wish you had never bought. Now if it was just me i would have thought it was a one off, but it was not. My ex's S2 did it, his mums S2 did it, his dads S3 did it, a work colleagues Galaxy Ace 2 did it ,in fact everyone i knew at work with a Galaxy range phone did it, my sisters S3 did it. Almost all use iPhones now and i don't hear those complaints about them and it put me off Samsung phones for life.

Don't judge the demo phones. Sometimes the Demo Mode gets stuck displaying something static 24/7. Burn-in on today's AMOLED displays is something extremely rare, unless you keep your phone display on 24/7 on a static image at a high brightness for multiple days. Apple has nothing to worry about. ;)

Great another phone thats better than the iPhone. Samsung has finally caught up and surpassed Apple. This isnt up for debate BTW. Apple is floundering in its iteration.

Exactly, I think some devices are nice but the OS experience kills it for me... though, freeness to play around with files and some unique apps is fun.

Owned a Nexus while still using iPhones and nope. Ultimately Androids unforgiveness for security and fluidity killed it for me.

Flagship Android phones are beautiful & slick with minimal UI that is customisable. Android has matured hugely in the last 12 months.

You'd think after all the criticism of the fingerprint scanner placement on the smaller models they'd change it on this one. I thought rapid development was one of Samsung's strengths?

At least the bigger size should make hitting the camera instead of the fingerprint scanner harder.

Also, while I guess I might have a faulty device, my S8 is having longer battery life than my iP7 WITH a battery pack.
And it takes 2 hours to load while the iPhone with batterypack take close to 5...
