Well here's a question for you, do you think there are going to be "supply constraints" for this device? Are they going to to be only able to make limited amounts so they have to price it at "luxury" price points so to cut back the number of potential customers?.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note series are sold in the quantities Apple would call "limited". If Apple only as many iPhones as Samsung did the Galaxy S8, it could make the iPhone 8/Pro/X the flagship.

Because we want Apple to be fantastic again, we want to believe, want to love. But, at best they're coasting, at worse falling behind the industry in innovation

If you close your eyes and ignore the A-series processors, AR Kit, ProMotion, Metal, Swift, AirPods, dual camera on iPhone 7 Plus, Apple Pay, Apple Watch, TouchID, Continuity & Handoff, the 5K iMac and the 18-core iMac Pro, then I suppose you could think they're "coasting" and maybe even "falling behind the industry".

Some of us live in the real world though.

Yes, Microsoft is making some very nice devices, Spotify is doing very well in music streaming, and the tiny bezels on the Samsung S8 are all great things from companies that aren't Apple. But let's not pretend Apple isn't contributing it's own great ideas into the mix and leading in many areas, simply because we don't have Steve Jobs announcing the products.

i still use my note 3 around the house for things like youtube, netflix and instagram. it's as capable as my iphones and having expandable storage is great.

apple has me hooked due to device interaction btwn iphone, ipad, mac, apple tv, etc but as a second phone or conversely if you are someone who doesn't have an excess of devices and wants a phone that can do everything i think the note series is one of the best options available.

OK yes Apple has three products coming this winter
1 a $1000 (at least) mobile phone
2 a desktop computer that (at least) is $4999
3 an Amazon competitor that costs $349 (more than twice the price)

Can't you see a trend (cough, cough gouging) here?

I’ll have to wait and see, but many always tout Samsung/Androids great innovation. I just don’t see it. It just seems like another Android phone to me. Nothing wrong with that for the people that prefer that platform, but I guess I just don’t understand the appeal. Android innovation is even worse in my eyes.

Tech media narrative: Samsung bests Apple in design

Reality:

Fall 2016: Samsung releases a phone that literally explodes

Spring 2017: Samsung dedicates a button to its flagship phone for a voice assistant you can’t speak to. Samsung last-minute slaps the fingerprint scanner next to the camera lens because it isn’t able to come up with a better idea on time. Samsung releases a phone with a facial-recognition system that provides zero security. Are people even using Dex?

This is the innovation that's supposed to keep Apple executives awake at night?

This Samsung exploding thing hatred has to stop. Remember Apple recalling all first generation iPod Nano's?

How soon we forget and forgive.
Lol, stop talking bad about Samsung! Here's an article talking bad about Apple! Even though the Apple article tells you that Apple was replacing 5 year old devices with brand new devices.

Says the issue was incredibly rare but chances of failure increase as time went on. It's a direct comparison to Samsung huh? Those turds weren't blowing up in the first week

I just switched to a Galaxy S8+ after only ever owning iPhones. I love it; the OS is stable and fluid. I can't see myself going back to an iPhone.
Oh you will be back. A lot iPhone to Samsung converts say what you've just said. Lack of updates, instability and apps will bring you back.

Anyway, you'd of thought Samsung would of killed the Note brand because of the associated incident with the last phone. It really baffles me that they're possibly going to stick to that name.

I still don't see the attraction of curved screens.

I checked some of them out, including Samsung, at my local Best Buy recently and the massive color shifting that occurs at the curved edges instantly turned me away. No thanks.

As Samsung beautifully illustrate themselves on their homepage, the screen edges are basically unusable borders:

I get it, it's a great screen. But that's kind of all it is, right? I guess I feel some of the changes Apple makes to it's hardware and software are a bit more tangible than what I see from the Android phone makers. I don't see a ton of competition here and I think Apple has a really strong platform moving forward.

It's great there is competition in the market and we need more of it. I do not like Samsung's practices in software design and development, they need a LOT of work but there is much potential. Android as a whole is not something I want to return to after years of using it, the constant battery drain at random times, GPS issues and overall experience turned me away. I am always willing to change, but Google needs to prove they have lost their ADHD method of running business and focus on making the OS more stable as well as improving things like deep sleep, which they still have yet to master.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I am surprised sometimes how no one seems to appreciate the positive things Apple are doing.

Samsung should have picked a different slogan - do bigger things - it's almost as if the slogan is hinting at bigger explosions. I wouldn't have picked that slogan.
