Yay for diversity. I like both iOS and Android and could go for either phone, but what's great about android is the choices available. Want a headphone jack? Then buy a phone that has one. Do you like taking pictures? Pick any of the flagships with awesome cameras (several of which match or outperform the iPhones). And so on with battery life, IP ratings, drop protection, design and whatever. I don't mind Samsung articles on MacRumors, it's nice to see what the competition comes up with and what might inspire/force apple to include in future iPhones.

I don't pay attention to what other people post.

Must say something about Samsung if people are all saying the same thing. ;)
I think it says more about the posters, but that's just my opinion.

Samsung bezels are not as ridiculous as the ones found on an iPhone. Physical hb HAS TO GO on the next iPhone or im jumping the ship. Making an old and boring design red, won't make me stay. Step your game up Jonny...
I do not understand comments like this. The form factor is essentially as optimal as it is going to get with existing technology. There isn't any reason to change it. It is like saying "All these ironing boards have that boring old ironing board design, I'm not buying a new one unless they make them triangular."

Excluding the 'Edge' version, the design of the Galaxy S line hasn't really changed much either. But almost nobody mentions that or cares about that because Samsung phones are about specs and not how they look like, while iPhones are defined to a significant degree by how they look like.
When your company charge the most for a phone or is the most valuable brand in the world then that company needs to be defined to a significant degree.... When you are number# 1, you need to start acting like you are number ONE..

As optimal as it gets? :O
iPhone 4/5 was much more comfortable to use. It got bigger, i get it, but it can still fit way better in ones hand.
Also, i'm not using an ironing board all day, preferably with one hand, outside etc.

I find it funny MacRumors has this story about Samsung copying an unreleased iPhone but every other tech site has a story about the Supreme Court ruling that Samsung doesn't owe millions to Apple for copying. All 8 judges agreed that if Apple is suing for copying the rounded rectangle design, the damages only apply to the profits from the case design, not the profits from the entire smartphone.

Are the Galaxy S models really noticeably cheaper than the iPhone? And while the Galaxy S models on their own might sell in lesser numbers than the iPhone, overall, Samsung is clearly the number one in smartphones. And note we are talking about the quality of the design but merely about bringing out novel designs.

Good. Go ahead Samsung. Rush to release your Galaxy 8 ahead of the iphone 8. Especially after what happened to the Galaxy 7. You should be less worried about beating Apple to the punch and more concerned with releasing a smartphone that doesn't...OH...I dont know...EXPLODE! Lol.
Hasn't the Galaxy line traditionally launched in Spring (exception on Notes) and iPhones in the Fall? They're not rushing, sounds like they're on schedule.

not this part. "And Samsung had produced a phone which looked like it had had a stroke." hilarious.
I did giggle at that part too. Funny is always funnier when it's true. He should edit post to take out the "facts" and leave the joke... which I am going to steal and use as my own. Hey, just like Samsung! :D:p
{crickets}
/leaves stage immediately:oops:

@Jsameds I'm going to steal your joke. Twas nice.

Samsung uses iPhone rumors to rush out clones in an attempt to "beat" apple and ends up with exploding phones.

Virtual home button? Stock Android, Nexus, and many Android phones have been doing it since forever. Samsung is the odd one, copying original iPhone with physical home button instead of following Android guideline.

I don't understand comments like this always ragging on the iPhone because it doesn't have flashy looks. For most people the iPhone 7 is THE best phone you can get.

It's fast, reliable, consistent, has a well rounded great camera, and doesn't explode. The iPhone has a timeless design and the performance is so good that it'll last most people at least 2 years. You can't say that about Samsung phones or ANY Android phone for that matter.

None of them have a taptic engine though.

I think that it is a given that Samsung will always attempt to beat Apple in the smartphone market by pre-empting Apple's new release with similar features and design, along with Samsung's own features (e.g. wireless charging). It has been happening consistently in the past and will continue to due so in the future. I'm sure that Samsung has intel that they collect from Foxconn, they know what is coming and they know they will make money by beating Apple to the market. Hence Apple's lawsuit that the SCOTUS just handed back down to a lower court to revaluate.

Frankly, the story of 'Samsung intends to preempt Apple by releasing a smartphone based on Apple's design before Apple does' isn't really news anymore.

Urgh. You can see the difference. You can't see the individual pixels at normal viewing distance, but it's not about being able to see the individual pixels. The overall image looks better on a higher res display at the same distance regardless of whether you can see the pixels or not.

Even Apple admitted this when they went to "Retina HD"

At the moment when I cannot make out pixels anymore, the images look pretty much the same to me. I think this drive for even more resolution on such a small screen returns no benefit that I can see anymore, except for the display technology in general improving.

Lot better than Apple who refuse to acknowledge problems till way later. Oh geez Phil...funny how you said Pc is sad when you got mbp full of problems.

No they didn't - and no you can't - your placebo effect mind might think it can. I've got people telling me the iPhone 7 Plus looks better than the 7 due to its higher PPI - it doesn't, it looks identical.

You obviously have no experience with VR. Apple has been dragging their feet in this regard but I've been using it with Samsung for a while. Even at a 2k screen the pixels are noticeable - I personally cannot wait until we see a 4k screen in a phone to improve that experience.

But even beyond VR, after you use a 2k OLED screen, the iphone screen looks lack luster and not as crisp when reading text IMO.

I have tried VR and its awful on both iPhone and a Samsung S7. I have no desire to want to put my phone in a holder and do VR what so ever - I think it's a stupid gimmick idea. Buy a dedicated VR headset if you want to do that, using a phone will be nothing more than a lousy budget experience.

I don't agree that a 2k OLED screen looks any better, in fact after playing with my friends S7 for a bit I still think the OLED screens look worse to my eye, it creates a jarring edge around text - and before you say I don't' like like the OLED screens Apple has used either on the Watch or the Touch Bar strip they don't look as good as LCD to my eyes - other people obviously don't see it but for me the lack of detail in blacks is poor and the smoothness around off and on is not there yet. Not to mention the scrolling is hideous on the Samsung phones - smooth scrolling is much more important than a static high res image that some people claim they can tell the difference in (and other will say there's none) but everyone agrees the scrolling isn't as smooth.

Meanwhile at September Apple keynote:

Tim: "welcome...thank you...thanks. Today we got 2017 newest iPhone....red color iPhone!"

I think it's also partly because Samsung often used an oblong central button in their past phones:

Personally I wish more Android makers had kept physical buttons. Just as with remote controls, and vehicle controls, I think real buttons make infinitely more sense from a user interface perspective of not having to keep looking at one's device to use it.
