But we must remember that other makes have increased their sales and have also taken some of Samsung's market share.

Still, not surprising really due to all the competition plus people are going to get the Galaxy S6 confused with the iPhone 6 considering they look a lot similar around the edges!

The irony being if it wasn't for Samsung, we likely would still have a 3.5 inch screen on the iPhone

yawn...

"If it wasn't for ... X-company's genius... then.."
really?
Everybody influences everybody, and if it wasn't for Apple's orig. iPhone ... blahblahblah

Who's to say that Apple wouldn't have come up with a larger phone all by themselves. They came up with the iPad Mini.
Fashions, tastes change, but not everybody thinks phablets are cool.

Name a feature that Samsung invented that any other manufacturer (Apple, LG, Motorola, Sony, anyone) thought was so compelling they just had to copy it. Spoiler alert: there aren't any.

Samsung makes OK-enough hardware, even if it's ugly as sin, but can't innovate to save their lives. And their declining profits reflect that. The days of copying the iPhone hardware and raking in the profits are over, and Samsung should be worried about that because that was pretty much their whole business model.

Nexus 7 inspired iPad mini.

Dude, I use an iPhone 6+ as my main phone and I like it a lot, but the new S6 is a really nice phone and a dramatic departure from the less than great Galaxies of the past. It also has a much more premium design and build.

...If you don't believe me, see the new DXOMARK review here: http://www.dxomark.com/Phones/Samsung-Galaxy-S6-Edge-review-Top-ranking-Smartphone-has-the-Edge

...The S6 is Samsung's first truly premium phone...

not really. it's clearly just a knockoff of truly inspired design. details matter, and this consistency extends to their software.

I'd argue IOS/iPhone has not been "stagnent" for the last year and a half. personally I'm surprised how many 8.x releases there have been for iOS8 with actual new features being added and services.

I think you are right, the S6 and S6 Edge will probably sell pretty well, but frankly Samsung lost it's biggest selling point over iPhones "bigger screen".

You're talking to a troll disguised as an Apple user.

Oh, boy. And Apple copied Digione:

(And the Android crowd will tell you how iOS ripped off notifications, multitasking, predictive keyboard, widgets (still poor implementation) and so on.)

The bottom line is, the S6 is still a premium product and a much better one than the Galaxies of old.

It doesn't mean that the iPhone may not have ultimately better design, or even better fit and finish. But to be fair, many pundits too an issue wit the iPhone's plastic inlays and can argue that these are almost as bad as alignment issues (which should really make Samsung embarrassed).

But keep it in perspective. When most users slap some ugly case on their iPhone, the perfect alignment is a mute point.

But Samsung has delivered a better camera, with OIS, for less money. I like that.

My point was, the S6 is a really good product. It's silly to argue that it's not.

Just a friendly reminder guys...

Screen size isn't an innovation... it's a decision.

You can make an LCD panel in any size imaginable... and you can create any device around that panel.

The same thing could be said about colors. It's just one of many decisions that are made when creating a product.

The only reason some people on this site adore Samsung is because they're the closest thing available to an anti-Apple. These people hate Apple more than they actually like Samsung, so they latch on to whatever Samsung is selling at the time as a way of practicing their hatred.

HTC and LG are still making better phones, even if the Galaxy S6 has helped Samsung catch up a bit. I don't know why someone would choose a Galaxy S6 over a G4 or M9.

Oh the irony of this post lol. There are also many on here who are so anti Samsung that you'd think Sammy's CEO murdered their dog or something. Its so bad that anytime somebody says something good about Samsung on here, they get attacked and are immediately labeled a troll. They absolutely hate Samsung only b/c Apple told them to.Those people are good little Apple soldiers, I'll give them that.

And personally, I like Samsung. And it doesn't have a damn thing to do with them being anti apple. Tbh, I couldn't give a damn less about how anti apple they are. The S6 won me over b/c quite frankly its just a better phone. And the G4 and M9 are better than the S6? That's highly arguable. IMO the S6/Edge is easily the best smartphone available right now. Camera, screen, beautiful look, pretty decent battery, great OS (never thought I'd ever say that about TW) and of course android 5. I still have a soft spot for my 6+ but Samsung brought it with the S6/Edge. It absolutely makes the S5 look like ****. And it makes the iPhone 6 look...average. Hope Apple comes out swinging this fall. Competition is good for consumers.

Who came to Market first?

Obviously, Apple came to market first and everything since have been derivative.

Besides, the Nexus is a dud. The 7" form factor never made much sense and the only "innovation" that the N7 brought was the low price and they abandoned that strategy with the N6. The iPad mini holds up better in the face of rising phablets because the screen is 35% larger than the N7.

And, Google finally saw that the iPad had it right the first time and copied the 3:2 form factor with the N9. But I think it's too late. The Nexus line will be discontinued because Google is bleeding money with this line. The race to the bottom didn't work and now they're trying to reverse course which is failing just as badly.

You're kidding, right? Samsung spent 10's of billions making fun of Apple users only to turn around and copy everything they made fun of and you don't understand why Apple users hate Samsung? What rock did you just crawl out from under?

Funny you make a comment about a person's brand loyalty and bias towards Apple on a site called MACrumors...

Too funny. Thanks, good chuckle before we head to bed.
