This phone is a game changer. The next iPhone better be something phenomenal. I'm done with apple and their incremental change BS. Thank god the competition finally caught up and we have some real choices now.

incremental change bs?

the UI looks the same because it works. the form factor has remained largely the same because it works.

what do you want them to do? release a pink one with extremely sharp corners like nokia?

Copying the iPod Shuffle - Probably infringing Apple patents, but alright, who cares.

The idea that Apple has some massive patent portfolio is an FB invention. Not only is it small, it's composed primarily of unenforceable craptents.

"it works" is the reason my company removes windows 7, and installs XP on all new laptops. It works is why I had a Camry to commute 40 miles each way with. It works is why I have a freezer full of tv dinners.

It works is not good enough for a gadget toy company. Which is what our phones essentially are. I want the latest and greatest thing out there, and iPhone 4s is 2008 tech as far as I'm concerned.

S Voice, seriously? They never give up, do they?

They are ugly, but not because of the big screen - just cheap design. And a screen that you can't read in daylight, um, you'd never buy a second Galaxy (roman numeral). And maybe that's what Apple hopes - buy the imitator, then next time you'll get the real thing.

What I do wish Apple could learn, though:
  • lighter - iPhone is just too heavy, and with all that glass, it's an accident waiting to happen - its weight and construction - makes it its own worst enemy
  • bigger screen - a 5" 16:9 fits within the 3G footprint, that's not too big for a phone, the elongated screen (rumoured) is nearly 16:9, an improvement, but 5" isn't a big ask, considering how much we do on phone screens… compared to 2007 !!

I wonder if the 70 some odd million who bought it since it's release agree? They're probably sheep, right?

You lost all my interest in you with this first line..... good luck with your 'cheap and crappy' Note.

So would you respect my opinion more if I had an iDevice? If I had an iPhone, would you be my best friend? Man, you really take your cell phones seriously.

Anyway, I keep plugging away at this note tablet thingy, trying to convince myself that Android is innovative and doesn't get viruses every 5 minutes, but I think you Apple kids are right. Everyone that uses Android must be deluding themselves. It's so obvious for anyone with a bit of taste, refinement, and common sense which one is the magical and innovative choice.

Anyone who likes Android must like it only because they're a bunch of contrarians. What a fool I've been.

And just to humour you..:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thanks. :D

I don't have small hands (I usually wear L or XL gloves) and the iPhone 4S fits just right when I am surfing the web etc. whilst holding it in one hand, as I often need to hold on to something with the other when stuck in a bus or subway. Would be keen to try this phone and see how it fares in the single-handed usage arena.

I'd say the biggest factor on whether you'll like a larger screen or not depends on how you interact with your phone. I've only got limited experience with a screen that size, and I was able to get my thumb all the way across it...though admittedly, it was a tiny bit of a stretch. If I were one of those people who hits all the buttons with my thumb while holding it cupped in my hand, I probably wouldn't like it quite as much as the iPhone. Since I use my phone by holding it in my left hand while plugging away at it with my index and/or middle finger, the larger size wouldn't be too big of a deal for me.

I guess like anything, it's all a matter of preference and comfort.

Competition is always good for consumers. Samsung is keeping Apple on it's toes... however I am glad Apple is not the type of company that will give in to what other companies are designing... I would hate for the iPhone to be that absurdly huge.

Popularity doesn't necessarily mean "quality".... go back to Beta Max.. better than VHS.. yet we all know what happened.

there are bunch of old curvy shaped phones, we can't say they copied from 3gs,
for human hand shape it is more comfortable so any company can use it, to be honest I'm stuck with my 3gs, cos 4s' edges very uncomfy for me (sure some people like it), we hope they bring it back in next iPhone

I think that everybody who has used both one of the 3G/3GS and 4/4S agrees with that design. The iPhone 4/4S might be a piece of art, but it doesn't feel right. But Jony Ive will probably pull off something that melts into your hands and tastes like candy for the iPhone 5.

No the overwheling majority are locked into a contract like me, or they don't really care.

Proof?
I doubt the overwhelming Majority are all current users...

This is true, but are you suggesting the iPhone is bad quality? If so, why?

Why the small screen? Since having the Note I can't use anything smaller.

If I could get the note unlocked running ICS, I would pick it up. It's down to $500 now. I could sell the 4S to cover more then half the cost.

Common sense, human nature and extrapolation from personal experience and observation.

I'm with you. I don't really like the feel of my 4S in my hand. That's the main reason I keep it in a case. As far as the Galaxy S3 goes...I'd like to try it out without having to buy one, but it seems like it would be way too big for my liking.

Sheep?

Not exactly sheep. Apple only makes one *new* iPhone. People buy it because they like the ecosystem and it's literally the only choice. Doesn't mean they agree 100% with all design decisions. And it's legit to ask for improvements.

We all live in hope, that Apple will open up the blinkers just a little more.

If Apple ever makes a lemon… then the game changes. Until then, innovate like there's no tomorrow… the copy cats are at our heels.

Absolutely not. I have an iPhone 4S.. Its good, I enjoy it.

Siri, however, leaves a lot to be desired, even taking its BETA status into account.

I think I will be getting rid of my google nexus s and get this Galaxy S III. I like the bigger screen.

*flamesuit on*
Ohhh boy. I'm not 100% sold on the size and design of the SIII, and I realize we're on a Mac-centric site... but some of these comments just make me

Apparently it's "copying" when Samsung adds features like S Cloud and S Voice (though Android had a capable Siri-like interface already in place)... but to stay competitive, they need to add similar features, no?

But it's okay for Apple to do the same thing (notification bar, turn-by-turn navi when it finally appears on an iDevice, etc).

And frankly, some of the new features of the SIII (like putting the phone up to your face while texting will call the person) is pretty interesting. If Apple did the same thing, I'm sure it'd be touted as revolutionary and such here.

And all the people saying ban Samsung... haven't we established there's Samsung products in Apple's products too?

I love my MBP and iPad and even loved my old iPhone (before it got stolen :() and I can see why people are passionate and defensive about Apple... but acting like this just seems to reinforce the "Mac users = sheep" argument. Surely, we're better than that?

I love my iPhone and I'd love to have a SG3 as a second phone but I don't want to get one and than the SG3 Skyrocket is released 2 months later... lol
