This obviously goes both ways, but it seems like those who prefer Android want the iOS users to see there side of things and keep an open mind to the Android platform, which we obviously should. At the same time, the tone from that end doesn't seem to be respectful of the same things to those who prefer iOS. Again, it definitely happens on both ends and it just doesn't make sense to me. I wish we, as a community, could move past that type of attitude (on both ends), and understand that it's just a preference and everyone has their own reasons for choosing either platform. There is no wrong choice here, because it's an individual decision. I have typically joined in on this sort of thing, but the forum has become pretty terrible as of late in this regard. Instead of looking at the tech with open eyes and being respectful of those who see it differently, it just results in constant arguing back and forth. It's tiring and makes me think that maybe this isn't the forum for me anymore, unfortunately.

Know what you mean. Now random YouTube reviewers are brought up as experts. How do you reply to those that think One UI is an awesome OS?

Because I run Windows. MacOS, iOS and Android and I simply don't buy into all this Apple great, everything else is bad or a mess type posts.

It might fool those who don't know any better. However, for the more well informed we know this to be a great over simplification.

Your opinion is yours, you don't have to be convinced if you feel Windows is even better. People have been using Macs for years and there is a very good reason why they are willing to pay the higher price for the MacOS experience.

With Android, its mainly a security/privacy issue which you chose to not consider. Google is worth $795 BILLION dollars and they hardly sell anything... I wonder where that money comes from? hmmmm

I dont care what the listing prices are. The fact is that with Samsung you can get some really good discounts and/or freebies, this is even during the pre order time (which I already sold for €100).
You know...discounts and freebies, somethings Apple will NEVER give with their flagship phones during pre order time.

So yeah, your earlier statement is just simply 100% false.

edit: okay, Apple is giving you one freebie with their $1000+ phone; a 5W charger. :p
Some providers also give you the Galaxy 10 with air buds included for free. Apple ain’t competitive priced here and this will surely translate into numbers = profits. The only thing our Timmy is eager on :D

This is one of the most to ridiculous things I have ever read.
Guess you haven’t read all of his comments then :D

You formulated your words correctly. I’ve been using Macs for years and the only reason was that the higher prices made that justified. You were sure you were getting high quality hard- and software. Since 2012 those prices keep on climbing. But the hardware has been neglected and the software has been stagnant for years.
Competition kept evolving and invested in better systems year after year.

The state of the Mac is embarrassing today as for the mobile equipment, they’re excessive priced and running a stagnant mobile os.

To say Apple is state of the art today is an outright lie.

Android? Nope. No thanks. I like software that works. Android is still a mess and a security risk. Less than no interest.
"Facetime Bug" says hi!

This comment:

"But in practice both smartphones are so fast that there's not going to be much of a noticeable difference in performance between the two."

has no place in the computer world ;) Yes, it's ok the for the mall girls, but we are computer enthusiasts, no?
If you watch speed test videos. The Galaxy 10 beats the XS Max 9 times out of 10. PUBG being the only game that opens slower on the S10. So there is a difference.

Yea I mean, it's mostly preference and opinion. I kind of just wish we just accepted that people prefer and want different things from a platform.

Late last year I made the decision to jump ship and leave years of Apple loyalty and purchased the S9.

I lasted 2 days before sending it back to Samsung and instead upgraded my iPhone 6S to the XS.

When friends asked what happened I told them this - the problem with Samsung is it’s software. I told them that it’s as if I’ve bought the latest Porsche, which to everyone looks great on the outside, but once I get into that car and I’m on my own, I look at the interior and I want to cry. It’s clunky, bloated and ugly.

The S9 (and now S10) are similar. Gorgeous on the outside but inside, boy oh boy (shudder)
I’m probably biased after working at Porsche for 7 years, but the 911 is the greatest sports car of all time, in its many iterations. And the interior is definitely not clunky! (Hasn’t been since 997 Gen cars-but in your defense, 911s up to the 991.1 911s were clunky as hell).

Numbers = profits for Apple. What’s wrong with that? Seems like a good thing, although most consumers don’t care about profits except those who think the products are overpriced. Then the memes are trotted out.

Android Authority: Samsung Galaxy S10 smashes DisplayMate records, gets highest ever A+ grade. https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s10-displaymate-962022/

Well, we expected this results.

With this, we can also expect many who will lament that Displaymate results are hocus pocus :p
Seems like they are only hocus-pocus when Samsung DOES NOT win.

Well you missed my point entirely, but on that subject I know a heap of people who have purchased Apple products because they thought they were cool or assumed they were the best. In fact very few people are tech savy enough to really understand the product they are using. The amount of people that have tried to tell me airpods are the best sounding headphones ever astounds me.
I sell Apple products and I can't agree anymore than this. I ask customers why they want to spend so much on an item they really can't afford? Most of the time it comes down to it being a status.

I hear things like, "It just looks better to own a mac as a DJ", or "My friends have one, so I just want one too." I explain that their are Windows PC'S that are much newer and stronger for the same price as this refurbished 2012 MBP. When I break down the Specs, they look at me like I spoke in another language. Lol

It's getting late here, and this random thought popped into my head.

It's better to be hated than ignored.

My observation is that android users seem to hate iOS users with a passion. Or maybe they just hate Apple as a company, and the feelings trickle down to apple product users by extension.

Conversely, I really couldn't care less about Android. I don't hate android, I guess I am simply indifferent towards it. Their platform's their business.

To me, Android may as well not exist. For Samsung phone users, they seem to exist just to beat Apple.

I wonder which is worse.

Yea the discussion with you in particular kind of jumped out to me. I didn't feel like you were aggressive or rude or anything like that, yet you seemed to be getting quoted in such a combative way. It's like you can't have an opinion or something. I don't really understand it, but I definitely noticed the same thing.

Honestly I see nothing extraordinarily different about iOS. I use Android, but played on iPads at my job to demo them for customers (Ironically I sell Apple Products) But the lockdown, corner the market business practices of Apple. Not to mention being late to innovate, and removing features to bring back later as a keynote. Sorry... I went on a tangent, but things like that is why we are so vocal against Apple.
We want the others to open their eyes and see that the grass is greener on the other side. If Apple lowered prices to support the hardware, and opened its support a bit. I would try it out, but till then. Android and Windows is where I'll stay.

Well, this was painful to watch. The dude is painfully biased. When Samsung has wireless power sharing it's a "party gimmick" but when the iPhone has it, it's the best new thing since bread.

Whose “we”? You don’t speak for me, nor do I agree with your assessment that Apple is late to innovate. The very definition of innovation supports the idea of a better implementation, which means someone has to go first.

And hey, if your opinion that Apple is “overpriced” and “under functioned”, there are many choices available.

It's not simply an opinion, it's fact as attested to by many influential trade writers and reviewers. The world and opinion has moved on, whereas your views are I'm afraid rooted in the past.

I may own Apple products including a Mac but I also recognise reality when I see it. The only real differentiator these days is Apple charge top dollar for the same or a similar experience to that of their cheaper rivals and sometimes their rivals actually do it better.

We as in Android Windows customers. Also they tend to grab something that Android releases and adds sprinkles to it and give it a different "Buzzword" and Apple fans praise it like it's new. Face ID has been in Android phones for years. That's just one of the features Apple was late to the party with.

Well I would say that is totally fine and you have every right to prefer Android, but there are people that don't feel the same. iOS/iPhone works well and is a great combination of performance, privacy, security, ecosystem, apps, and support. The Android side of the argument seems to always push for bleeding edge of technology, more control, more customization, more computer-like, which again, is totally fine, but some people don't value those things as much as you do. There is no wrong choice and the differences between the two platforms are so small that it doesn't really matter all that much.

Why value less? No one should pay more for less. That's a bad way of life. Sometimes you just have to wake up and realize you're being cheated. I know Apple fans feel like they are in this secluded club and all, but I rather be part of a team that doesn't force me to pay $40 for an adapter to charge my phone and play music with AUX at the same time.

Except price  Apple was ahead of the pack to be honest, but they’ve become almost stagnant since 2012. Together with excessive pricing and having lost the edge, you’ll probably understand the amount of complaining :(

The same thing can be said about Touch ID to use one example. Finger print readers were spotty in android prior to Touch ID. Apple raised the bar and used the finger print for biometric financial authentication. Face ID also raised the bar similarly to Touch ID.

However in the vein of “we”, we apple fans are going to wait for a while for “you” android windows customer and see how the bloom will hold on the rose. In the meantime we Apple fans will wait for Apple to implement a polished and well thought out gen 2 feature that was gen 1 in android.

That is my argument. Apple doesn't innovate, they improve on what's already there. We as in Android users do not hate Apple fans, just your mindset.

This will sound like an outrageous comparison, but it's like we are giving an intervention to drug addicts, and you guys are just giving us excuses to justify your problem.

We Apple users don’t hate android users as well, just the mindset. For example, improvement is exactly innovation in a meaningful way, exactly describes Touch ID and Face ID.

Now, if to you that’s not innovation, by your own definition there hasn’t been innovation on android either, just some modicum of improvement.
