Very different situations between you and I. Personally, I don't want anything to do with a traditional PC. I prefer iOS and use an iPad Pro and iPhone exclusively. I think Mac's are overpriced and I think Windows machines are garbage as well. I have moved on from those two OS's completely. Being able to do everything I need for work and personal use from the iPad Pro has been a very freeing experience. iOS requires zero upkeep, I have all the apps I need, overall costs are lower to me than a traditional PC, everything is instant in terms of performance, collaboration with my team has improved, and I love the extreme portability it brings. The tasks at hand are one thing, but I look at the overall experience of using the device. I just enjoy using an iPad Pro more than any other computer that I have used. Ultimately, it just comes down to preference and I prefer iOS. Everybody is different and that's okay.
I prefer to use a phone/tablet for my computing needs and like you avoid using a traditional computer wherever possible. I have a MBA but to be honest it is overkill for my needs as I very rarely use it. However I do prefer Mac OS after years and years of using awful windows computers. Whilst I do prefer a mobile computing experience, there really isn't any maintenance required with a mac, apart from keeping the software up to date which is a painless and simple process.
[doublepost=1551729680][/doublepost]
Not all PC’s are garbage as for many use cases like my job, a Mac couldn’t do it due to software limitations. For my phone, watch and tablet Apple are king in my eyes or for my uses at least.

To be fair though most tasks can be accomplished on both platforms but we choose which one we prefer.
I do accept that windows machines have their advantages and for some types of work they are preferable over a mac. I just have never had a good experience with one, be that at home or at work. They work well enough for the first 6 months or so and then they dramatically get slower and bugs creep in. I think they require too much maintenance compared to macs. I've had my MBA for 4 years and it's as fast as the day I bought it.

A bit off-topic but windows 10 killed my 3 year old high-end laptop. Needless to say I am not a fan of windows 10. Windows 7, to me is the benchmark.
Makes sense. The update did brick some PC'S. I was lucky updating my PC from 7 to 10. Still works great till this day.

What does it explain or you gonna throw a subtle ad-hom around?
I googled ad-hom too, lol. I’m not personally attacking you though. Sometimes in the heat of a discussion it may seem like. I’m sure you’re a nice person in real life, like most of us here :)

Out of interest, do some of you guys view iOS vs Android like people view a football team? It’s almost like an allegiance where any shortcoming of one or the other is celebrated like a mini victory? I ask this as a user who doesn’t overly care outside of my own preferences.
Not at all. I buy what's best for consumer. Rather its price, performance, user-friendlyness and business practices. Apple doesn't meet all of those expectations for me.

Absolutely, it all depends on what works for the individual. I just have never had good experiences with Windows machines, specifically a Surface Pro I had to use for work. I just prefer iOS and the iPhone/iPad combo at this point.

The thing is that a Windows PC cant be garbage. Both Macs and Windows PC'S use same Hardware. Intel is Intel. Even RAM and SSD'S are same. ZZAlso why are we comparing iOS to Windows. iOS is mobile. My 5 year old processor in my PC has no slow down what so ever. I use it to edit videos and Photos and high end gaming. I can have multiple videos and tabs running and use maybe 20% of my processor.

I'm sure like most customers I encountered, that you purchased a low end PC because of price. Mac for years only sold it Mac's with SSD'S (Which makes os run fast and smooth). Apple was smart on how to fool people into believing they can only make that magic happen. My moms 3 year old i5 Acer with 256GB SSD is still lightning fast till this day!

It may be a different experience for you, but Windows machines have given me nothing but problems over the years. It's a similar argument when it comes to iPhone's and Android phones, components aren't everything. They could very well be the same, but the experiences are different. I never had any issues with Mac's, but I just learned to prefer iOS. I only compared the two because you mentioned Mac's being overpriced, which I agree with. I just felt it was fair to say I am not a fan of either machine at this point.

You won’t find a tech company that will meet all those expectations in all honesty. I find Google and Apple to be pretty unscrupulous in certain areas but they are the leaders in what they offer. The only thing I hate about iPhones of late is the price but then I get my own back there by buying the older devices lol. As a package for me they are the best though, but it’s different for everybody.

It's getting late here, and this random thought popped into my head.

It's better to be hated than ignored.

My observation is that android users seem to hate iOS users with a passion. Or maybe they just hate Apple as a company, and the feelings trickle down to apple product users by extension.

Conversely, I really couldn't care less about Android. I don't hate android, I guess I am simply indifferent towards it. Their platform's their business.

To me, Android may as well not exist. For Samsung phone users, they seem to exist just to beat Apple.

I wonder which is worse.
You just don't get it do you, i explained in detail how not everyone hates Apple or iOS. I certainly don't, I just think you need to be a little more open minded.

I prefer to get better performance for cheaper price. Also more functionality is great as well. Don't have to buy $40 adapters to convert one of the many USB-C ports Apple only offered. I buy a Dell that has 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports, 2 USB's and a HDMI port. All for much less and better performance.

Aye this is like telling a drunk that he has a drinking problem though. There are many videos out there that show how Apple are a bunch of Con Artist by comparing PC'S to Mac's , but you'll all keep drinking that tea.

Heres an video comparing a $2000 PC to the $4000 Mac Pro:
So is the Samsung send random photos to random contacts incident. What’s the underlying point...who has the most vulnerabilities?
[doublepost=1551727406][/doublepost]
Sure let’s go. We can assign a priority to every component and add them up and see who wins. Naturally we can assign our own weights.
Not as bad as listening in on people. What about iOS 12 dropping cellular signals. We're showing that Apple isn't as perfect as you all would like to have people believe. Lol

Google is the lesser of two demons. I still have headphone Jack on my Phone, my computer doesn't need adapters for older ports. I can game on my PC. I have less obstructions when using my phone. USB-C on my phone for faster quick charge. Oh it comes with Quick charge adapter. Don't have to shell out $20 for that wall plug. Yeah... Its better on the Android/Windows side.

Like phones it depends on your use case. My wife is a graphic designer and Macs are just better with Adobe products. She just sold a 6 year old MBp for £500 which was a quarter of what she paid for it and it was running as smooth as the day she bought it. I bought her an upgrade and would never have considered a PC for her. My needs are different and even my $4600 work Dell can be buggy. If the packages I use worked on a Mac I would move over in a heartbeat as from what I’ve seen it’s just a much more trouble free and optimised experience with Apple.

I am 100% sure you bought a PC with regular HDD and probably an Pentium or i3 processor. More than like used horrible free or no Antivirus, and before you say macs don't get viruses. That's totally wrong. Keyranger Mac Virus says hi! Those would be why you had issues. I have 2 Macbooks that display keeps resetting after Mojave update was added. Sometimes the screen even goes black and I have to close lid and reopen to fix it. Mac's can have Software and hardware problems also.

That is my argument. Apple doesn't innovate, they improve on what's already there. We as in Android users do not hate Apple fans, just your mindset.

This will sound like an outrageous comparison, but it's like we are giving an intervention to drug addicts, and you guys are just giving us excuses to justify your problem.

So it’s NOT innovation when Apple improves biometric face scanning like Face ID. The other side just uses a picture basically. Apple completely INNOVATED it by making it a 3D Face scan by using a dot projector, IR Scanner, and integrated the TrueDepth camera system.

Apple is never “first” to the party. Everyone knows this. They don’t care about bragging rights to be the first to do it. They want to do it “right”, and where it can benefit the users experience.

Does Adobe really work better on Mac's? This sounds extremely false. Explained in the uploaded screenshot and do to the fact that I edit videos and am a Photographer that uses Photoshop on PC.

So let's say that you created the refrigerator. I looked at your creation and said, "Hmm... This would be better if there were shelves in place to put food on." I proceed to add shelves. Now my idea was good and improved on your invention, but I deserve all the recognition because I improved your invention with shelves? So I'm the real innovator here? Yes or no?

Who knows? Ignore the Adobe comment then and replace it with other packages which i cant be arsed to name. It’s generally a nice experience though and I can see why Macs are first choice depending on the use case.

Mac's are 1st choice because of Apple's marketing. I posted a link to a video where someone tested the $4000 Mac Pro to a $2000 PC and the mac lost. There is another video where a girl ran Adobe 4K rendering with a Custom PC versus a MBP. Took 20 minutes for the PC to render the 4K video, but took the MBP an Hour and 5 minutes. Let me know if you want the link? I'll gladly provide it.

Nah that’s absolute tripe sorry. I know far too many IT specialists and people like my wife who are very educated in IT and intelligent people who choose Macs. I know someone who is a programmer for Dell who uses a Mac as their personal computer even. It’s not about being thick and easily lead by marketing, that’s a completely nonsensical point of view trying to simplify things. I hear that far too much on here and it’s said about iPhone users too like we aren’t clued up on tech and only own iPhones because they are simple to use.

It’s not about speeds but the ease of use. Windows is clunky and I say that as someone who has used it for nearly 30 years. Apple offer a very polished interface and it’s highly appealing.

Can the PC run Final Cut Pro?

That’s really the main takeaway I see from creators on YouTube. If you run use Adobe premiere, a PC is the more economical choice since it’s equally unoptimised for either platform.

Conversely, Final Cut Pro seems to run well on a Mac with inferior specs, to the point where a “lesser” Mac running FCP will still offer you a better experience than a more powerful PC running premiere. Heck, there’s the now infamous video of Jonathan Morrison using FCP on a MacBook to edit 4K video, in response to Linus showing how such a task would be next to impossible on a more powerful laptop running premiere.

Meanwhile, some creators have also shared their experiences with how FCP just seems less buggy in general, like having an export to YouTube function which actually works.

Ultimately depends on what your comfort zone is.

I disagree. When it comes to photo and video editing aswell as using the Adobe suite for graphic arts Macs are just the better choice. It's not about the raw processing power, it's about how easy it is to get things done, the little things that all add up to being more productive. I've worked in graphic prepress for over 20 years with extensive experience on both Mac and Pc so I do know a little on the subject.

Whose “we”? You don’t speak for me, nor do I agree with your assessment that Apple is late to innovate. The very definition of innovation supports the idea of a better implementation, which means someone has to go first.
Well they are releasing some new Animojis in the latest iOS release, so I suppose you could say that is 'innovation' cough cough. ;)

We can all agree that Apple will give us better phones (PPI, better sound, better camera(s), etc) in the not-too-distant future but I was reminded of something as I was doing some banking on my XS Max.

Security!!!

Folks, I agree, the new Samsung phones have a lot of new bells and whistles, no doubt, but it is still Android. The Android OS is rife with security issues. If you've never done banking or anything sensitive like that on your phone by all means buy what you like, but if you have, I would be very careful about being seduced by (the dark side, just kidding) the flash and pizzazz of Samsung or any other Android manufacturer. I know iOS is not perfect but they do a lot better job in the security realm and it's not even close.

I think you and I just have very different opinions about this stuff, which is fine. You have every right to choose what works best for you. iOS works best for me.

Comments like these humor me ALWAYS! As an iPhone user myself I have to ask what security risk are there associated with Google/Android platform? Celebrities iCloud get hacked into daily and their private pics are plastered all over the net. FaceTime just had a very intrusive flaw exposed recently. Just say you don't like Android and it will be more respected.

iOS has been proven over and over to be (a lot) more secure than Android. In this area it's not even close.

That can definitely be debated.:p

It took a few weeks, but Apple supposed to be so secured and safe. What about the Butterfly Keyboard issue? Took a lawsuit to convince them to fix that. iPad Pro's Bending still are not a problem.

Maybe you should find computers and gadgets that you like. MS fan club and the android fan clubs at right now the hall. In the meantime, millions and millions of apple users enjoy and rely on Apple gear. They have a deserved reputation as one of the best gadget makers in the world.

Enjoy.
