A funny meme could be made about what cell phones will look like and do in 2020. They all will look nearly identical (as they do now almost) with the carrier, mfg branding being the only discernible difference.
By your definition, I suppose cooks are worthless because they don't grow any of their own food but instead buy them from supermarkets and grocery stores?
What Apple does very well is refine existing technologies and present them in a seamless and integrated package, which in turn means a better user experience for me, the end user. Which I feel is no less important.
Just take the iPad for instance. Apple wasn't the first to create a tablet, but they were arguably the first to present a tablet offering that didn't suck to use. If the iPad hadn't existed, the individual component parts of the iPad may well have not existed for me either, since I have no use for them individually.
All companies steal and borrow ideas from each other, Apple is no different. Take your rose colored glasses off.
Steve even said it in an interview and it's on YT.
Like larger displays on phones despite saying the 3.5 display was perfect and it was ridiculous for anything larger.
Or maybe Apple would never make a smaller ipad when smaller Android tablets first came out. Only to release a ipad mini when smaller tablets started to sell.
Again ALL companies copy ideas from each other. It is how businesses have been run since........well there have been businesses.
The Rules of the Apple Fanbase:
1. All features was invented by Apple
2. If a feature was present before Apple invented the feature, then ignore this fact
3. If the feature indeed was vastly present before Apple invented it, go back to point number 1
Repeat this until all other invented features are credited to Apple!
Since much of the Apples features are based on core technology invented by Asian companies it seems silly to discredit them.
Since Samsung has been the major component supplier to Apple (RAM, Batteries, Chip and NAND) so the reason that Apple was able to create an iPhone from the start was due to the inventions of Samsung in massproduction of 4 major components.
Apple has since then worked closely with chinese manufacturers to copy Samsungs technology in production to make components at the same quality and volume as Samsung provided Apple but cheaper and on Apples business terms (they like to be the Supply Chain Bully which is impossible against Samsung).
So when you talk about 3D touch as something we should all be greatfull thanks to Apple, then remember that the parts that made the iPhone possible in the first place is due to Samsung.
I think you need to really read the thread. Catch up on what is going on before you spout nonsense.Another person who doesn't read what's written. I didn't mention "stealing" at all; READ or respond to the proper post.
Implementing tech 5-10 years after others in a much better way is not stealing or copying because well, in the US if you steal you have to go to court and defend yourself there unlike in China.
But, if you take something that's under IP like Samsung often does, well that is something reprehensible. You're doing a lot of false equivalencies there.

All rule of trollish behavior, well you just did it.
getPressure() for MotionEvent work on Android since API level 1. In other words it has always been there. In the Android OS. Just the brainiacs of the Android Development Team couldn't figure out, how to put it to use and never considered it to be a "useful" addition...and along came Apple "inventing" force touch... Yay!
But will developers program "standard" Android apps with support for Samsung's solution when Google might well come up with another method? Or will their version of 3D Touch be limited to Samsung's own apps?
More and more of my apps support 3D Touch. Mostly for shortcuts from the home screen, but nice touches anyway. He was commenting that stock Android has defined a pressure return variable since day one. Of course, without the hardware supporting it everywhere, there's little reason for developers to waste time using it.
And even if it is common, who knows. Heck, reportedly even Apple is having a tough time getting iOS developers to mass adopt 3D Touch... much less the users themselves.
Never thought this would happen. iPhone 7 wants to push me away with bluetooth audio, and Samsung is pulling me in with water resistance.
There are several features that pulled me and the wife off iPhones and onto Sammies 3 years ago, most that still apply today:
1. Larger/better screens--I came off an iPhone 4s, and never looked back. Good to see Apple finally wised up, but it was too late for me because of the other reasons in this list. Sammy's screens are still superior, though
2. Back button--I can no longer live without this feature. As buttons go, it is the equivalent of a right mouse button, in my opinion
3. App switcher button--I can switch between apps and close all (or individual ones) with far, far more ease than the iOS implementation. This is another "can't live without" feature, but mitigated with software if Apple put a "close all" option in the double-click function of their Home button
4. Widgets/Home screen customization--Everything I need to see is where I want it, when I want it, and how I want it. This is another "can't live without" feature
5. Built-in Stylus: I will buy nothing but Note series phones until someone does it better than Sammy. The stylus is the equivalent of a mouse here: pin-point detail and selection ability is priceless. And the stylus is stored internally!!
6. IR blaster- Too bad Sammy removed this feature from newer phones. Having my phone as a universal remote was awesome.
7. Removable battery--Another sad loss. This made the device more flexible than Apple's and gave it longevity in more ways than one.
8. Micro-SD card--Being able to expand the device's capacity is also priceless. Glad to hear Sammy may bring this back. This is one of my biggest issues with Apple: the inability to increase storage in both mobile devices and (more importantly and ridiculously) their notebook line.
9. USB port--Proprietary connectivity sucks. Period. I refuse to buy an device with anything other than non-proprietary connectivity.
10. Audio jack: If Apple removes the audio port from iPhones it will be an absolute, no-way-in-hell-I'll-buy-one deal-breaker for me. Hopefully Sammy won't "copy"this from Apple.
11. Looks/materials--I don't really care about this (I actually prefer plastic to metal in a phone), but Sammy has made great strides here for those who do. My wife's and my Note5 are so sexy, we both put them in clear cases.
Bonus reason: The loss of integration to my all-Apple ecosystem did not hurt anywhere near what I expected, given the way that iPhone gets defended, lauded, and even it's sell rate.
The competition has caught up and surpassed Apple, at least in my household of 6. No one in my family wants an iPhone. The 3 kids that have them (hand me down 4s + 5c) all wish they had Sammies (2 Note5 + hand me down Note3), and in their case it's not just related to screen size..
Yes, you are mistaken. If I'm not mistaken, isn't the current iPhone 6s already water resistant to an extent?
The s6 Is vastly superior to the 6s, so the s7 Is only going to extend that gap..The only thing that I am somewhat disappointed about on my new iPhone 6s is the screen and it's something that Samsung will always reign superior with their smartphones.
Their super pixel-dense OLED displays are gorgeous to look at.
And with the rumored pressure sensitivity, higher resolution and improved brightness, the S7 will undoubtedly have the best smartphone display this year, beating the iPhone 6s, and, most likely, the iPhone 7.
I just wish Apple would step up their display game. 750p and LED are just unacceptable in 2016. Don't get me wrong, 326 ppi is not bad, but it's not good either.
Poppycock, burn in, in 2015 lol , denial is strong in this one. What are you talking about?
Samsung's SAMOLED is freaking awful with over-saturated colors and color shift. Not to mention burn-in problem all over the place.
iPhone 6 looks ugly...
Samsung notorious for copy pasting...
New Samsung phone
still looks ugly...
WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?

Oh the hate is strong with some of you. We're seeing the natural evolution of technology. Not copying. If you're going to point your finger at Samsung, you might as well point your finger at Apple too. But why bother. Buy the device that you want. No one is forcing you to do otherwise.
Here is what I took away from the article, do people really use the "edge" feature. i guess it doesnt hurt to have it on there, im just wondering how many are using it. Will there be a Galaxy note? Or are they releasing at different time.
"Apple is rumored to be considering wireless charging in the iPhone 7, but it may not be ready until 2017 because Apple wants to use long-range charging that eschews a mat."
Here, here, Apple!!! Take your time and get it right. Im sorry but having to put my phone on a pad......that has to be connected by wires, is not wireless charging. Wireless charging is just that, setting your phone down anywhere and having it charge, not setting on a pad that is connected by wire to usb or electric outlet. I may as well take the cable out of the pad and plug it into phone. Then at least I dont have this big dumb pad, I just have wire.
Yeah, but Samsung even copies the colours that Apple puts out (pink, anyone?).
I mean seriously, It's fine that Samsung copies - but i want Android fanboys to just admit that Samsung does and does it excessively.
That's all i want. Went through 4 years of arguments over this topic. Proof is in the pudding.
See that's just it, Samsung has copied Apple. The issue is that many Apple fans refuse to admit that Apple has done the same. Samsung has followed trends made popular by Apple. But again, Apple fans refuse to admit that Apple has done the same. THAT is the issue some have here. The blatant hypocrisy of some iFans. Personally, Apple and Sammy can copy and try and one up each other all day long. Just give me a solid phone to use and I'll be happy. Looking forward to the S7 and i7.
