That IS what Apple is doing, and that IS what Apple has always done; except the "dark ages" when Steve was absent. Apple hardware is *all* about design and everything else is secondary. And I love it! They also know how to optimise performance which is a whole lot more complicated task than simply upping specs.
Besides; there is exactly one company in the whole universe that makes computers worthy to be seen Apple. I don't do my work in a solitary chamber where nobody ever visits. My work is done in public and my tools are to be seen as well. I want my tools to look nice, because that makes me look nice too. That's one of the reasons why I keep buying Apple products. Not because they look nice, but because they make most sense to my business.
So, yes, I'm happy that Apple still values design.
