so the notch Is physically gonna be same size?

weird how apple started the notch, but in 6 months have the biggest notch of any notch-phone

tho the rest are of course copycats, of that style of notch (I forget the one that had a circular notch around the earpiece that came first tho right?)
I am hoping the bigger phone will have enough space on the sides of the notch to have more icons. Like battery percentage in numbers.
I think i read that by 2019 the notch will disappear. Then what will all those copycats do?

Does that mean even at 6.5 it is not going to be wider than the regular X? I wish for the X Plus to be basically the dimension of the 8 Plus just without a bezel. I didn’t go for the X cuz it is too narrow. I cannot deal with that iPhone 6 keyboard
Same here....I have the 8 plus and love the size. I tried the X but returned it....was just too dang small for me.

Why are these phones getting so huge???
The height and width of the 2018 X Plus will actually be smaller than the current 8 Plus, though 0.008” (0.18mm) thicker.

I think this rumor is true; I worked out the size of the X Plus last November based on a 6.5” screen (and assuming the X Plus would have the same bezel as the X) and came up with 77.72 x 158.50.

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/25459383/

I estimated weight at 210g, not sure how close that will turn out to be but I’m sure it’s going to be heavier than the current 8 Plus’s 202g.

Every year, we get the same story. Someone literally just takes the existing phone, increases it's size while keeping certain things the same (like the notch), and says it's the new phone.

And these in no way are schematics. They are very simplistic wet dreams from an uninformed rumor monger.

Because record revenues keep rewarding such decisions. If consumers generally felt like that was a problem and voted with their wallets, Apple would adjust to "evolving customer wants." But we buy anyway. Apple sets records. Stockholders rejoice. Execs earn their bonuses. The press feeds corporate egos by calling them geniuses. And the cycle repeats. As long as more and more money keeps flowing, Apple can basically do ANYTHING it wants and all of that happens again.

I love how these leaked/artist'srendition/rumored iPhones are about 99% accurate in terms of the final product

Pretty much all phones these days look a like. Price and features will be the major differential. Apple needs to be careful with their pricing.

It's almost as if Apple themselves did that in 2014, and again in 2016...

(6 Plus & SE)

No one cares. It runs Android and is a cheap knockoff. You know why you're paying $280? You are the product with Xiaomi.

Seems like you live in the year 2013. Android is actually very good now and newer phones are very fast and stable. Need to get with the current times.

This. 3D Touch is one of my favorite features of iOS over android.
I never used that 3D touch nor do I know anyone else who actually used it, just a gimmick. I'm on the Note 8 now and also never used the stylus. All gimmicks. Curved screens are another stupid gimmick that I hate, you can never use a good glass screen protector on it if you have a curved screen.

The new Xiaomi Mi 8 SE @ $280+ is the new benchmark in mobile, and will very-likely completely Dominate WW smartphone sales later this year !

It is a potential Game Changer !

It will soon become avail in the States !

And sends all your info to Chinese gov. How exciting

LCD instead of OLED. One rear camera instead of two. No 3D Touch.
Oled is overrated. The Oled on my Note 8 doesn't seem that much better than my old iPhone 7 Plus. 3D touch another stupid gimmick that nobody uses but some internet whiners.

As opposed to sending it to the CIA/NSA/FBI?

A small new, 5 inch display iPhone X SE is a beautiful dream, but that is likely all it is. I personally believe Apple would sell tons of these at $649.

That won’t happen for a couple reasons. First a phone like that would cost almost as much to produce as a 5.8” iPhone X yet priced $350 lower? Yeah I don’t think so. No way does that maintain Apple’s high profit per device margin. Second if they did build it and priced it at a more realistic $899 most customers would just move up to the next larger size for $100.

A small phone like the SE works in it’s current base model inexpensive form. Just because a few people on message boards want a small premium phone doesn’t mean that’s what the market wants. Apple’s building stuff to make the most money targeting the market with what most consumers want. Most people spending close to $1k on a phone don’t want a small phone. That’s just how it is right now.

Sucks for those of us who want the latest features in a smaller phone (that can easily be used with one hand). Give us the 4.7 screen in a smaller than iPhone 6/6s/7/8 package.

That makes way too much sense. Just like grouped notifications and not being limited to auto arranging your icons to the top left of your screen make too much sense. Oh Apple. ;)

The middle size looks like Goldilocks’ “just right”, but without 3D Touch it’s a deal-breaker. They should just make an iPhone 9 as the cheaper line.

Why are these phones getting so huge???

Because people refuse to stop buying them because of the size. The sales numbers are still going up each year so idiots in ivory towers pat each other on the back and say "We were right. People do want larger phones."

I’m pretty sure this is karma.

Karma for all of those years I made fun of Apple for being obsessed with making devices “smaller and thinner”.

The exact opposite has come true.

Mind you I won’t be too upset if Apple releases an iPhone SE 2 w/ an X-like design.

I don't get why the so-called "entry level" 6.1 inch iphone is bigger than the more expensive iPhone X. I get that the new iPhone X would have a better screen technology and whatever, but it doesn't make sense to me that a more expensive phone would have less screen real estate. So far, a "better", more expensive iPhone has meant a bigger screen.

I realize that the iPhone Pluses have always had other differentiators, but screen size has always been the main one.

Bigger isn’t everything. It’s more expensive for a filet mignon than a whopper. iPads are bigger. Are they better than the iPhone X?
