What do they name them? iPhone XI? Just "The iPhone"?
Either way curious what would be the 6.1 inch model be called.

As someone that has to carry two phones at all times, I want the best iPhone, but in a small form factor. I don't want to carry two phablets just to have the latest tech.
I guess most people only carry one phone? I'm talking about apple's product strategy, not someone's particular situation.
Bigger isn’t everything. It’s more expensive for a filet mignon than a whopper. iPads are bigger. Are they better than the iPhone X?

I don't get your analogy. i'm not comparing iphones and ipads. I'm comparing iphones. I get not everyone prefers a bigger phone, i actually own an iphone 7 and have never had a plus iphone, but i get that people that want a bigger phone have to pay the premium for that. Like I said in my original post, i get there are other differentiators between both models, but it strikes me as very odd that they'd charge more for a smaller phone.

Dual lens updated from the iPhone X or still unusable in low light due to red/white eyes?

I don’t think LCD tech can support borderless design. All LCD phones thus far have had chins (bottom bezel).

The latest panels from JDI can. It's just a matter of cost.

I never used that 3D touch nor do I know anyone else who actually used it, just a gimmick. I'm on the Note 8 now and also never used the stylus. All gimmicks. Curved screens are another stupid gimmick that I hate, you can never use a good glass screen protector on it if you have a curved screen.
I use 3D Touch all the time. Would not buy an iPhone without it at this point.

I hope that the bezels of the 6.1 inch model won’t be thicker than those on the 5.8 inch X. The LCD model looks kinda weird on those schematics with bezels that thick.

If the SE2 screen grows to 4.7” there’s going to be a lot of complaining around here. Many SE fans think 4.0” is the perfect size; they intensely dislike the 4.7” and larger screens.
Only a diagonal size is not enough to describe a two-dimensional screen.
Some rumors/speculations give a new iPhone small model with a screen with a 4.7" diagonal AND an aspect ratio close to 2:1 (for example, a 960x1920 screen at 458 ppi as the X is 4.7", only slightly wider than current 4" screens, and @3x you get the same 320 points width as every 3.5"/4" iPhone models)

Don't worry fellas, Samsung has some real advancements for the Galaxy s10 or SX. In a few years you might get them too. Tbh, I have never owned a galaxy, always been LG V series guy, but, the new Samsung might convince me to switch or atleast try one.

True, the diagonal isn’t sufficiently descriptive. But it does a pretty good job of describing the max travel of your thumb as you negotiate the UI. For example, if I’m in safari and want to use the “previous page” icon in the lower left corner, and the “refresh page” element in the upper right. I may need to go to the upper left to return to the parent app, or the lower right for tabs. Apple does tend to utilize the corners quite a bit.

No matter what the actual aspect ratio would be, whether 2:1 or 19.5:9, the one-handed reachability of a 4.7” is going to be compromised compared to 4.0” 16:9. Not a lot, but too much for some.

Some will like it better, others will be here complaining because they’ll find one handed operation is more difficult/no longer possible. As always, it’s up to Apple to make a choice that they think is the best compromise—i.e., what’s best for the greatest number of potential/actual customers.

I do like my 6S, but a lot of my usage is two-handed, so personally I’m open to considering a larger display. I definitely prefer 4.7” to the 3.5” of my 4S or the 4.0” of my 5S, but the corners are a stretch if I’m using it one-handed, and I sometimes have to shift my grip (for instance to do a swipe from the left edge). Of course there are many opinions on the “perfect screen size”.

What’s next for 2019 then, 7.1” iPhone? These phones are getting obnoxious.
It’s the same size body as the current 5.5” so I don’t see it as any different. Just better use of space really. I don’t think phones will go bigger then this.

I have a hunch that what we are going to get will be the iPhone 9, iPhone Xs, and iPhone Xs Plus. In this way Apple will be able to close the gap between the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and iPhone X and now have have the iPhone 9 next to the Xs and Xs Plus thus allowing Apple to eliminate the numerical names of the 2019 iPhones and start a new decade of the iPhones with simply the “iPhone” name.

Does that mean even at 6.5 it is not going to be wider than the regular X? I wish for the X Plus to be basically the dimension of the 8 Plus just without a bezel. I didn’t go for the X cuz it is too narrow. I cannot deal with that iPhone 6 keyboard
Same here. I stuck with my 7 Plus after I put an X next to mine and noticed how narrow it is compared to the plus model. That was the deal breaker for me. I really just want the X with the same dimensions as my phone. It’s hard to go back to a smaller phone. I honestly don’t even mind going to the largest model they offer as long they offer the flagship features.

Women (with purses), far sighted people and geeks that want to pull something big out of their pocket.

An iPhone that has a lcd screen and no 3D Touch is a joke.

I never get this. My 7 Plus even fits in my slightly „skinny“ jeans just fine. But I don’t use a bulky case on it. I have yet to wear anything it does not fit in

They intensely dislike the outer dimension of the old 4.7“ iPhone 6,7,8. A bezel-less 4.7“ iPhone SE without home button would have the outer dimension of the SE/iPhone 5....

I don't think the screen will jump to 4.7" but either way with the notch design that's rumoured the screen area will be bigger. And if onleaks renders based on CAD design is true then it's the same size body which will satisfy SE fans but they'll get a bigger screen.

Although they'll be disappointed at lack of fingerprint I guess, until they get used to Face ID or decide they still hate it :p

5.7" is a one generation size?

Gulp

Apple fragmentation is ridiculous,

unless they update X and make it X2, then fair.

But still, too many options of the same thing

What are they gonna do for this 6.1" LCD with a notch? How can an LCD have an irregular shape?
As by my earlier suggestion, I would expect the notch to be chirurgically implemented in customers eyes by deactivating retina cells for a permanent notch view - whether on phones, tv's, iPads, haircuts, my wife's (or Joni's) face and anything else that lacks a notch.
Because it is here to stay anyway as He decided.
