This is why the OP should try just going to the Apple Store and explaining that the screen toughness just isn't up to scratch (pun intended)

What ‘toughness’ is it meant to be?This is why the OP should try just going to the Apple Store and explaining that the screen toughness just isn't up to scratch (pun intended)
Many of these people, here, do not care about a little fraud![]()
This is why I’m hesitant to get an Apple Watch. I’m in nursing school and will graduate next May, so it will get a lot of work and abuse. I can’t stand scratched watch faces. I’ll have to do more research on them before I decide.
We're talking about Apple here... company that refuses to admit they have seriously defective keyboards in 2000-dollar MacBook Pros, for god's sake. LOL.
The company of "you're holding it wrong."
I love my Apple loot, don't misunderstand me, but at the end of the day, if you take an item to them and you lodge a complaint and they take a return, well... they didn't mind taking a return, did they?
It would be rather silly to be talking about ethics and Apple in the same sentence when it comes to stuff like defects.
Now, do I advocate doing to the store and stuffing your pockets with their products, then leaving without paying? Of course not!
But, if you paid for an item and Apple is willing to return the item and give you another items, everyone is satisfied. They know not everyone is being 100% about stuff like scratched screens, you know.
Sounds like you're trying justify fraud by saying Apple has done worse. While many in society do this, the fact remains that its still wrong to damage something and attempt to return it. Its immaterial in how Apple acts, and in fact if it is a concern then I question why you giving money to apple in the first placeWe're talking about Apple here... company that refuses to admit they have seriously defective keyboards in 2000-dollar MacBook Pros, for god's sake. People rationalize poor behavior all the time. If someone is comfortable lying to save some money after his own mistake, the watch isn't the semi-defective entity in that scenario.
I would 100% tell them it arrived damaged and try to return.
Just providing an example of what could be proposed if he were to go about doing that. I'm not saying that would be the only thing I would do myself, but it's certainty an option, and likely the most beneficial one, if the scratches seriously bother him and will continue to for years to come.
Not for me to decide, just offering my opinion.
Yep. I buy the SS models more for the sapphire than the stainless case. Having owned both aluminum and stainless steel, the sapphire makes a huge difference.Sapphire all the way, especially for something on the end of your arm waving around all over the place!
Sorry for the silly question, but I looked on the apple web site and there is nothing about choosing between sapphire and ion-x screen. Is it by case type? It’s unfortunate. But a screen protector really should help you in this situation to conceal it. And I don’t mean to make you feel worse about the situation, but this is why I opt for the Sapphire display to avoid issues like this. I don’t trust the Ion-X Glass.

Yep. Sapphire is on Stainless. Ion-X is on aluminum. I scratched my aluminum Series 3 on the wall of a pool. My wife has an inch long scratch on hers too. No idea where she got it. Ion-X is cheaper but you get what you pay for.Sorry for the silly question, but I looked on the apple web site and there is nothing about choosing between sapphire and ion-x screen. What you said was to tell Apple it arrived damaged. That *is* fraud. The wearer damaged the watch. Not Apple. Not the delivery service. It’s unfortunate, but it does not fall into the realm of an acceptable return.
OK Thanks. Wow, that's a big price difference! Rather just buy a case.Yep. Sapphire is on Stainless. Ion-X is on aluminum. I scratched my aluminum Series 3 on the wall of a pool. My wife has an inch long scratch on hers too. No idea where she got it. Ion-X is cheaper but you get what you pay for.
Pretty sure that if he went in, said he was highly disappointed with how easily this thing could be damaged and asked for an exchange to get the stainless because he had no idea this new glass would be so fragile, he'd be accommodated.
