lol at thinking aluminum is the best material to make a laptop out of not to scratch

its character. who cares abotu some scratches. you guys sound like a bunch of women...and if you are women...its cool, you can bitch. my wife does all the time

Why didn't you stop using the credit card as soon as you saw the first scratch?!? I don't get it... smells fishy

Ya ... I have to agree with the poster above me -- why wouldn't you stop when you noticed the first scratch? In what frantic manner were you applying the plastic to the top lid?

And honestly ... I don't think my keys could do that kind of damage to the new macbooks without really trying.

I put my BSE on on Thanksgiving Day and had no problem. Unlike BodyGuardz I found it very easy to align because it slides around with enough solution wheres the BG is very stick and you have to essentially lay it down in the right spot. I got mine on perfect with no bubbles or anything and used a credit card. I have no idea how you could have scratched it like that unless you were digging the card into the laptop. It's not even like you were pressing the embossed name and #'s from the credit card. But you would have had to put a lot of pressure on it.

As far as what to do now. Check out MacStyles.com They make different skins that show off the Apple logo but cover the rest of the lid in a vinyl (I think it's vinyl) cover and they have lots of cool styles and patterns to choose from. That's probably your best bet. Good luck.

bse does not include a squeege or a spray bottle! according to there website they say use a credit card and water or water+ soap

Yes, but you are supposed to soap up the skin and put it on the body and then use a CC to squeegie the water out from under the skin (trapped between the body and skin). So, how or WHY were you using your CC directly on the body?

so has anyone had the balls to take a credit card to the bottom of their macbook yet to see if it scratches? i havent

I really have a hard time believing it was from applying the skin. Looking more closely at the scratches, it looks like it came from a watch while carrying it or something and that the skin was ordered to keep it from happening again. It may be true, but from all the people putting skins on, I have never seen or heard of anyone scratching their machine in the process.

Get a MacStyles skin to cover it up and personalize it.

are you sure thats not the scratches on the plastic
like seriously how can u scratch underneath but not what is on top
are you like a magician?
I mean seriously i have it on my blackberry and I dont scratch up my screw using my credit card.

I honestly don't see how a credit card can make scratches on the aluminum surface, especially when the BSE film was in between!!

What's the real story behind the scratches? I don't believe the one in the original post.

I definitely find it very suspect that anyone could scratch up the lid like that with a credit card. Whenever I put my skins on I'll use whatever plastic card I have on hand...cc, supermarket coupon card, insurance card, etc...I have yet to encouter scratching like that. There's definitely a different side to this story. When you apply a skin on there's a reason you spray the skin with a soapy water solution. The water acts as a buffer between the adhesive and the object you are attaching it to. When u use your plastic cad to squeegee the liquid out you're just pushng the adhesive into place and the liquid/bubbles out. You don't even need to use a heavy hand to do so. Something tells me the OP is making the whole bse skin story up.

I call shenanigans on this.

Looks like a severe case of backpack abuse on that case, or somebody taking a dried up ball point pen to the case.

There's no way a credit card could do that.

I believe the OP is telling a bunch of BS for attention

there is no way a credit card would leave scratches on aluminum

wow, i havent read the responds in a few day but wow, i would not lie about the credit card causing the scratches, if you do not believe me try it out yourself, i swear on my life that the scratches were caused by the credit card... my macbook is under 30 days old and was in flawless condition....I did not bad mouth BSE at all in all of this, i was just sharing my results. And im not a black card AMEX holder, in fact im a college student whose just making it by. I was just surprised to see this result after spending about $2000 on a laptop and after hearing all teh great things about mac. This is my first mac, and will be staying with mac, i guess im just disappointed in the quality of build here. I didnt not expect for this to happen obviously, but it is ironic to see this happen. Who here doesnt baby there mac -- hence buying a full body protector such as BSE -- i was just sharing my results.

neither do i, but those are the scratches and yes this was with the screen in between

i was so determined in getting the skin on that i guess i didn't notice the scratches, i gave up on putting the front and went to put the rest of the pieces on, when i turned it over i guess i saw the scrtaches with the light.

and most importantly - i have nothing to gain from this by lying or anything... what am i getting rep points or something? either way if you need more pictures or further proof i'll be more than happy to provide more feedback. The only reason i posted this was so you guys could be careful with yours.... i really have nothing to gain from this, just sharing my story

When you turned the MB bottom up to install the bottom pieces. Did you remove the top skin already, so that the top surface was bare rubbing your desktop or something?

it was on a bed on a towel, so i know the scratches could not of been from that. And yes at that point the skin was removed. I was unable to align it up perfectly so i took it off and decided to come back to it after i did the rest. And nothing was rubbing, im not foolish enough to try and install something like this with nails and stuff hanging around :D

Is the edge of your credit card jagged? Did you use the flat edge of your credit card or the corner? All those scratches are very fine lines... what sharp edge caused it?

You are right, you have no reasons to make this up.

However, your story is claiming that BSE indeed does NOT protect against scratches, even from something (like plastic) that is not supposed to scratch aluminum in the first place...

i understand where your coming from but i never did BSE doesnt protect against scratches, im just sharing my story the skin is perfectly intact but theres scratches on the macbook from a cc....

Get a scotch-brite pad and go over the whole top with it to even it out. If you dont like the finish grab some aluminum polish and bling it out.

It looks more like you used a key to put it on.

if anything maybe the flash made it look worse than it is, but def. still a credit card

Is that really scratch on aluminum? Not like uh.. skid mark of credit card?

yeah I know this type of aluminum is not hard one as the edge can really easily get dented.

I just took my drivers lisence and rubbed the crap out of my macbook. NOTHING! I know i know i was totally surprised since plastic is sooooo much stronger than aluminum. It did leave some small marks but i proceed to wipe them with a damp towel and they were gone. hhmmm, crazy.
