So after getting my new MBP i was traveling in LA and my strap on my computer bag broke. I dropped my weeks old machine and it hit the ground not once but twice. Look closely at the Ethernet port. No way you can get a connector in there now. Guess I will be using wireless forever on this machine. I have a case on it now and sure wish these would have been ready then. I could have saved myself some dents. This thing is sweet. It comes off super easy as well as lets the screen tilt all the way back.

Yeah,I was going to suggest the USB ethernet adapter - for the price, that's what I'd do (or try to bend the case back with some pliers). Sometimes ethernet just a bit more convenient.

I believe the OP is telling a bunch of BS for attention

there is no way a credit card would leave scratches on aluminum

Yeah this is not a credit cards doing. No way in hell....why on earth would you even have to dig with a credit card that much in one spot to squeege out a few air bubbles underneath one of those protectors? I call rubbish.

It's at that point you realise that your mac is just a collection of metal and plastic and you slap a great big sticker on it. Alternatively you could grit blast it or use wet and dry paper but hey, it's only a computer.

Sounds like a pitch from someone working for BSE? You must be in marketing... Bash cases and point out how great BSE is...

Funny and transparent

R

You obviously work for one of those hard case companies.

And I dont think the thread starter is misleading anyone. He probbaly just didnt know there was a piece of sand in the BSE, and was moving it around with a credit card scratching the surface. I also tried VERY HARD to scratch my Al MBP, and it didnt work. Put one spec of sand in between the BSE and im sure it will come out looking like the pictures posted.

What the hell...... how on Earth did that happen?
Oh sorry... you did mention how...

Try an abrasive.... I doubt it could get any worse but you'll loose the grainy texture and a lot of thickness.....

Other than that.. use a sticker.... or something to cover up!

Or take it to Apple that it came in such a way... o_O (just kidding:eek:)

But seriously...apply the BSE again (And do it right this time, get a friend to help you or something) and you will not notice the ugly marks. I had my iPod for 3 days before the BSE arrived and I had some slight scratches on it and once I applied the BSE, it "disappeared":

The flash actually brings out the dust on top of the BSE and not due to the scratches underneath it. :p

My BRAND NEW 2.4ghz came with a flaw :( :

See that spec of black dot next to the alt and left arrow button? Thats actually the aluminum "flaking off". I was pretty pissed at first, but now im over it. I was just too lazy to bring it back to Apple, and they probably wouldnt even believe me it came this way. Probably assumed I messed it up myself and trying to get a new laptop.

First... I really had a hard time finding what was wrong...
Second.. Its really not worth the troubles to reset everything and give your new baby to Apple!
Third.. congrats :)

Ariez.. agreed! I find that using a skin like BSE or invisible shield really hides a lot of scratches!

I just took a credit card and tried to scratch my fingernail; nothing. Considering your fingernail is a 2.5 on Moh's hardness scale and aluminum is higher....Well, I'm not going to say I don't believe you, but it's highly illogical.

While I am not doubting your story, it doesn't seem possible for a credit card to do this. I just took a credit card and tried to scratch my fingernail; nothing. Considering your fingernail is a 2.5 on Moh's hardness scale and aluminum is higher....Well, I'm not going to say I don't believe you, but it's highly illogical. Perhaps something was under the skin? And, if you reproduced it and showed the company, they would probably pay you the cost of the laptop.

It looks like a speck of dirt to me................

cover it up with a Silver Sharpie :D No really I bet that will work , it may not be a perfect match but it will blend alot better than having a black speck.

I'd return it. Just do a timemachine on your HD, you'll be up and running in an hour if they replace it. Personally, I'd get it fixed. If you ever try to sell it, it will be a factor. You paid a lot of money for this machine, it shouldn't have any obvious imperfections. It may seem picky, but if you weren't picky you would have bought a PC notebook. As for the OP, I'd leave it alone. Live with it. You're liable to do more damage. Man you must have pressed hard. I can understand wanting a shield on an iPod Touch because you have your fingers all over the screen, but I think plastic covers don't belong on the Macbook. Anyhow, don't beat yourself up about it. Things happen.

these photos make me cringe about buying a macbook alu, however, I will and I have already bought the macbook invisible shield, after seeing how it protected by ipod touch, there is no way of choosing anything else
