That is incorrect, there was also a press release earlier outlining that it would be on sale from the Apple Online store in NZ and authorised resellers on the 30th, and the price of the 16GB.

except since that media report, vodafone have removed the iphone 4 page from their site. I am sitting here on the 30th, with no iPhone for sale on APple website.

Vodafone have been telling customers it is dead in the water

yeah your right. But still, there has been no communication from that point to today regarding the launch being cancelled. Unacceptable IMO, it could have saved many people lining up throughout the night

It is 8:28am in new zealand, I was waiting in line in front of the largest apple reseller store in new zealand magnun mac for 2 hours. At 8am the staff came out and said they dont have anything. Then at 8:15 I popped by a vodafone store (quite a big one) they weren't open yet but I did the "4" sign with my fingers and they shook their heads, telling me to try back at magnum mac...so no one has stock...

I'm glad other countries are getting access, but I wish Apple would bring the US to full supply first. I checked 5 stores in my area yesterday (2 AT&T stores, 2 Best Buys and a Wal Mart) and no one had any stock. AT&T told me it would be mid-August before they see any more iPhones. *sigh*

Cutting an iPhone 4 cake at Telstra's Sydney launch party

Not a cake.

Apple releases...iPad Maxi!

ya think those dildos at apple or the bigger dildos at vodafone could have at least MADE A PUBLIC STATEMENT last night

but no, all vodafone does is remove the iphone 4 off their site

Apple just ignores it

Jackholes

iMullet 4

Boring article but that guy in the white hat and black jacket has got one sweet mullet!

Expensive huh

outside of US, UK not many people can afford it anyway, what is this buzz all about?

it is selling like A$1000 or something ...

if it all afford, cannot update the iPhone every year, they still got to complete the two year contract started with iPhone 3GS.

Rumors are that Vodafone lost the deal after making this statement:

""Nobody else has got a network that Apple trusts enough to run an iPhone on," Brislen says. "

http://computerworld.co.nz/news.nsf/news/vodafone-nz-confirms-iphone-4-sale-date

It was a cheap shot by Vodafone, using Apple's name without permission to smear other NZ telco's. Vodafone did not have exclusive carrier rights (they just had the distribution rights), so hard for them to get away with those sort of comments.

Most are speculating that:

iPhone 4 Stock is in NZ currently with Vodafone. They won't distribute it to other retailers, so no one gets the phone.

Apple doesn't have a distribution channel outside Vodafone for iPhone 4 so they can't get the stock to retailers.

Interesting whats going on in NZ

In Denmark it seems to be going okay, short supply naturally though. Supplies are in the hundreds, while the waiting lists are in the tens-of-thousands.

iPhone 4 non event in New Zealand

I have had information from a reliable source, that the reason we are not able to buy the iPhone 4 in New Zealand is not because of short supply.

But because none of the Vodafone stores can agree on a retail price of the 32GB model.

And yes I was queing up at 5:00am along with everyone else.

Not impressed.

I'm totally disgusted by the NZ launch, both on Vodafone's part as well as Apples. Seems both of them don't care about their loyal customers enough to shed some light, glad I had work now and was not one of the people who blindly lined up at shops with zero information.
