I cant get my hands on a iPhone 4 and now they are sending what supplies they have to other countries.

Looks like a lot of fun. Too bad about the vodaphone deal. I hope everyone that lines up gets a phone. If they offered me free booze on line, I would be wasted by the time I got to the phone. Drinks are like Lays. . . I can't have just one. :D

So is that true that other countries don't have the antennagate problem?
My iPhone 4 still drops calls like crazy and has really bad call quality

RETURN THE PHONE TO APPLE, GET YOUR MONEY BACK. STOP COMPLAINING.

What part of the above message don't you get?????

Already getting great reviews from Australia out on the web. As more and more iPhones are being sold through out the world the more and more we will all know that the only scandal surrounded by the iPhone 4 is the scandal created by the over-blown media coverage and the anti-Apple groups that would do anything to take Apple down. The iPhone 4 will continue to sell well into the hands of millions who will soon find out for themselves that it is the best phone out on the market.

Just got my two allotted 32GB unlocked phones... was also informed applecare is now international even for the iphones? This is GREAT news if true; means I can get it services in the US, and, in theory, get an unlocked phone back (even if I need to have the phone replaced). Cheers! I'd be out of here if the darn receipt printer didn't jam... Sleep soooooon!

BTW, I'm estimating stock at apple's flagship sydney store at around 5000 units... there are easily 1000 people queued up now for outright purchases... and the line is going pretty slowly.. I don't think they're going to sell out today though!

Just to rub it in a bit (well a lot), in OZ we can use the iPhone on all carriers, and buy it outright from apple unlocked. This means we get good prices.

The tax free equivalents in USD for an unlocked 16gb is about $700.
An example of a plan is otpus $59 plan which includes the iPhone for $0 upfront. After removing the 10%GST and converting to USD it works out at a little bit over $48.

Weep Yankees!

Lmao, free booze? Only in australia

To clarify, it was better than just free booze. Those who lined up had their details taken, then were escorted across the road to one of the hottest bars in Sydney (out of the rain) with an up and coming band AND free booze. Then when the time came, they were escorted back to the store with no queue to collect their phone.

Sounds like something Virgin would do, but it was Vodafone. In fact Richard Branson is in Sydney flashing his iPhone 4 but Virgin didn't appear to have a big launch.

Well, talk about very limited stock.

Telstra (largest Phone company in Australia) was getting like 8 phones per store to sell.

Most locations are selling out within 10-15 minutes of opening.

Checked my local Telstra store (Castle Hill). Sold out before opening with only minimal stock arriving.

JB Hifi sold out before opening.

NextByte (Australia's "apple store" before real Apple Stores arrived) was "lucky" enough to get 3 phones. I was second in line but the person in front of me bought all 3!

:(

Looks like it's a half day optimistic wait at the Apple Store on Monday.

Was just in the queue at the CBD Vodafone store, queues are a rare sight in NZ with a population of only 4mil. Queued for about 40 mins, only to have a rep come out and say they are only selling it to NEW CUSTOMERS.. existing customers aren't allowed to buy it, if you eligible for resign, you still can't buy it. WAY TO SCREW OVER YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS!

lol yea idiots are trying to make more money off every sale right now by forcing anyone wanting it right now to sign a 24 month contract.

IMO wait for apple an jb hifi to sell it off plan and fk 24 month contracts. Mobile plans are terrible in NZ anyways.. prepay is way better.

Yeah way to score a few new customers and piss off 100 existing customers who'd probably cancel and hate you with a passion lol.

No kidding. I just cancelled my Telecom contract and changed to prepaid, and I'm saving about $25/month. The 500 MB prepaid mobile broadband is great since you don't need to pay the full cost if you don't use it all, and if you exceed 500 MB then you can get another 500 and still just pay for what you use.

I don't know what Vodafone's offerings are like, but I'm guessing that prepaid is still cheaper than a plan!

Callum and Adam, Masterchef Australia finalists. ^

With Marion, Courtney, Alvin and Matt in the background (plus long-haired, Telstra-hatted bogan on the right). Marion! <3

Wonder if it was the finalists that made the cake :p (though I did see big Matt Preston lurking in the background of a video from there). Would've made an interesting final challenge last week...

BOO F**KIN HOO. Just because you live in the States you deserve an iPhone more than me? I had to wait 3 weeks for my country to get the iPhone and queued up for eight bloody hours. The Kelly Rowland show was great, and the Optus staff were running at an efficiency I had simply never seen from them in two years of being a customer, but still, eight hours is a long time.

Here's a hint: if you want something that you know is in short supply, get there early.

Must admit,. I was pretty Lucky, The Optus store in Perth opened at midnight last night, I didnt get there til 5 in the morning (5 hours after people had been getting iPhones) as I was waiting to finish work, and wouldnt you believe it. I got the very last iPhone. The whole time there was muffins, coffee pastries and music for us, I say very well done Optus!

It's just a pity the Optus network is absolute rubbish. I can only take a phone call inside my own house half the time, and at my wife's workplace (school classroom) it's about 10%. 4 hour wait sometimes for texts to get through. Web browsing super slow.

I can't get off the Optus network quick enough now my 24 month plan has just expired.

Telstra may have crap customer service, but at least their network works.

Well That Sucks. must admit, I dont have a problem with it, I may just live in a really good area then. I do know that its not the best net work. I was previously with 3, so going up to Optus for me, is a big improvement in value and speed. But yes I agree, If you wanted the best coverage and speed You'd opt with Telstra
