I've bought things worth way more than an iPhone at a mac store. I wouldn't really be worried.

Where do you people live that this is a problem?

I'm picking up in a mostly white area & I live in a white area 30 miles away. Recently though a few women have been roughed up for their cars. So I am driving my honda and not my Benz.

I'm a black woman & I worry for my safety just like other people. I have nice stuff but people of all types can be criminals. Kids in my area break into cars, but drive their moms Jag to school the next day.

Me too. But it was not on a launch day early morning. I usually go later after the stores are open. This time I'm going early for pickup so I can get it early & get to the office.

I should take the day off. That way I can go whenever.

oh yeah blame it on Obama! he probably sabotaged the iPhone factory and made all the 6+ late off the line also:rolleyes:

I didn't even address that nonsense other than to say WTF. I guess they are everywhere.

Every launch I have been to (and I have been in California, Iowa, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire now), there are always police at the actual Apple store and often times outside the building. Further, I have never seen an Apple store set up anywhere but a decent fairly affluent area (I am not saying they are all this way, but I doubt Apple would set up shop in a city with a ridiculously high crime rate).

All that said, you can be attacked whenever, wherever, really. Not like a criminal can't go to your city if he/she doesn't live there. How often does this happen, really? The iPhone launch is always on the news and we aren;t exactly hearing how one in ten folks are gunned down on their way to the parking lot (just an example of what a healdine might read).

I don't stress about it though, because I use my phone in public anyway. If I am going to do that anyway, I am effectively accepting the risk of broadcasting "hey, I got an iPhone over here!"

Actually the truth about them not being in ghettos is sort of true, there are many in higher crime areas though. I went and picked up my iPad Air when it first came out and parked in some sketchy garage near the Apple store although it was just around the corner. I wouldn't say it was the ghetto just kind of sketchy.

You seem a bit racist this Saturday morning.

Stay classy!

I don't think the term ghetto itself is race related, and so to say move out if the ghetto isn't racist.

However, a person that using the word ghetto is racist clearly feels that a certain race is poor and that is racism.

Stay classy!

If there hadn't been women attacked recently in the parking lot at this affluent mall area I wouldn't have been concerned.

I suggest bringing a can of soup in a sock. Immediately after purchase start swinging your can of soup over your head and run like heck to your car. (disclaimer: I will not be responsible for any broken jaws, injuries, or damage to property incurred as you make your way out of the store). Bringing a spoon with you for additional thumping ability is purely optional.

Bring dog to Apple Store. Preferably scary big dog like Anatolian Shepherd that barks/growls at people who get too close. No one will come close to take iPhone.

Security for in store pickups 9/19

Well I tend to take a bag with me when I look to make purchases. I even took my bag into town on my lunch break when buying a new iphone charger at the apple store. Like hell am I gonna lose out on something I have bought with my money for some low life pond scum cock to take it from me..
I was concerned ppl might tail me date leaving in case I bought something expensive..

Take a bag activate it first and then make way to your car. Chances are you would leave the store with others doing similar parking in the same location so should be ok!

Sounds like a plan. Suggestions on types of soup? I think a nice minestrone or lentil? What do you think?

Anyone worried about security after your devices are delivered or after pick up?

I'm concerned about someone following me to my car after I pickup in store. I plan on keeping my 6 plus on the down low for a while. I mostly rock my devices naked but this time I bought a case that covers the back completely. I am also planning to use my BT headset more often to keep the device in my bag.

My first thought though is making it from the store to my car without incident. I don't have anyone to go with me to pickup so I am concerned.

Don't worry about everyone else. Its your right to worry, and nothing wrong with worrying.

Can you get a friend or someone to come along?

If not ask an apple store employee or a mall cop to walk out with you. Also, walking out with a group is always another option.

If you are going at night, I would bring someone with you if your concerned.

In the middle of the day, the worry is less.

I only have a 3lb 19 year old chihuahua with no teeth. She can gum some soggy kibble though.
