Are you a man? The reason I ask is because most men don't understand what it is like for women when we are out and about--especially with small, expensive items. I regularly have pepper spray on me. I used to work for a non-profit in inner city ATL and trust me, it was necessary.

These are normal fears that women have. We are unfortunately used to getting sexually harassed and by being threatened by men who know we are weaker than them (note: not all men, just the jerks).

I did not used to be but I am too! The current administration made me that way!

This was funny because I read the post above then yours :D:p:D

to the OP if your that worried don't buy the iPhone. It makes no sense to be living in fear.

you think your alone. I think about being mugged for my iPhone and I'm a man. I think the best advice was given on the front page. Move

I would make a trap that would explode and spray liquid poo over the mugger when they open the box later.

At first I laughed this off but now seeing ebay actual sales, I'll be picking up a 1500 + dollar device Friday at current market value

I'm 6'3", super fit from all the years of working out, training and being super active. If they approach me they're in for a surprise... LOL. Suffice to say that I'm prepared in more ways than one.

As a fellow woman, I've feared for my life many times in my life. I've never really feared about gadgets though. I mean I'd be totally bummed if someone stole my iPhone but I figure if they steal it, maybe they need it more than I do.

Famous last words..

OP, if you list the Apple store you plan to go to, I'm sure there's at least one forum member going to the same store on 9/19 with whom you could buddy up.

I didn't know Wall st. Was in the ghetto.

More crimes are committed on Wall st than the 'ghetto' they just don't get caught.

Very true and the biggest crimes the committed by banking familes in Europe that run wars and others injustices like fake debt and that is way the iPhone is made by slaves in a communist country where they have no human rights that is the enemy of the nation that invented the phone and most world patents including weapons that china has. Think about it.

I will keep a watch on the forums and find someone. Thanks for the tip.

The paranoia in this thread is pretty funny. You might as well lock yourself inside your home and pay someone to buy the phone for you? I mean, you don't want to risk a car accident do you?

That's kind of like ordering online right?

Guns are the great equalizer. Get a CCL and stop living in fear.

It won't work too well if the perp sneaks in a cheap shot from behind you and knocks you out. Or even worse, if they pull their gun out first.

I never leave home without my M&P on my waist. Enough security for me, use the buddy system, don't wear a mini skirt and heals and park in a dark corner alone.

On a serious note there will likely be police at every launch store on and off duty Friday morning with so many people that will be there.

Armed cops, security guards and armored truck drivers face this possibility too. Should they not bother carrying weapons either?

If you have extraordinary reasons to fear for your safety, you can hire a few armed bodyguards for the day. They will accompany you to the doors of your neighborhood Apple store and then back to your vehicle. Sometimes they even provide a few tinted SUV's which will have their engines running at the drop-off curb waiting for you.

LOL. I have a gun (Colt 1911 .45 that is currently loaded with hollow points). However, I have an issue with gun violence. My husband is a military officer/service academy grad so trust me, I know how to defend myself. I am also just very aware of the risks and dangers.

Having an issue with gun violence is all well and good but how does that concern you? Unless you think that you yourself carrying a weapon somehow encourages and propagates gun violence...
