Yes I still use my Ethernet port. It's more secure, plus I have a T1 line and it provides faster internet than wifi.
It's 2016 and people still use T1 lines?
Seriously, at 1.5Mb, I think any wifi can accommodate.

Nah, I have a right to say something about them, and I'll choose to use that right. You can simply just ignore them.
This is the same problem I was having, I couldn't run some of my apps and it wanted my password, after providing it, it was unable to verify my computer and gave me an error code. After reinstalling the OS, it took care of my ethernet problem as well as my App Store problems.
This is ridiculous. I'm not reinstalling entire OS because of that! Surely there must be a way for Apple to develop a software patch??
Your argument has no merit - who's to say Apple couldn't have just as easily broken WiFi with an update instead of Ethernet?
Honestly reinstalling the OS is the fastest way to fix this right now unless you want to spend a lot of time mucking about in the limited Terminal facilities available in the recovery partition.
Also, it won't affect your existing data or configuration. Just kick off the reinstall, walk away, come back to a working system.

My Mac mini wifi connection has been flaky ever since I upgraded to Lion. Now on El Cap, it still drops out at least once a day. A crappy cheap Windows 7 machine in the same room is rock solid, as is an even cheaper - so cheap its sacrificial - machine I upgraded to Windows 10.Some people do, but nobody needs Ethernet. Wired data networks in the home are history. This "broken" update should encourage more people to adopt wireless connectivity.
Do people still use ethernet in 2016??![]()
Okay...well..I have right to ignore you. It's so easy! -ignored-Nah, I have a right to say something about them, and I'll choose to use that right.
These forums have been going downhill for a while now. I wonder if removing the downvote button had anything to do with that. Hmm.
Still, the mods and admins are great here, so it's worth sticking around.
In an effort to remain on topic, I think most of us can agree that it's kind of silly to inquire about the usefulness of ethernet ports. Especially on machines without Wi-Fi...
i agree.Yes, I like my connection stable
Sure doesn't take much to touch a nerve with some people.Okay...well..I have right to ignore you. It's so easy! -ignored-
iMac late 2013 and Ethernet was broken.Wait so is there a solution to those affected?
Are we stuck forever with no ethernet??
That's what I want to know...but I think it's safe to assume either they have no QA manager/staffs, don't care, or they take us for a fool.Argh! I ended up reinstalling the whole OS yesterday when this suddenly broke after a reboot. I *had* been fiddling with settings on my router and assumed that it was related, but it seems not. I can only echo the posts above... how did this get through testing?!
Just quoting you because that's what everyone else did...Do people still use ethernet in 2016??![]()
Take your wifi-v-ethernet debates offline...
Is there a fix for this yet?
