So it used to be that upgrades never broke features, then upgrades started to break features, and now even updates break features!

Can't blame people for not upgrading to the latest software releases.

Hello there,

you can restart now. There was a fix for me just 10 minutes ago.

Kind regards

Unbelievable. Start up my Mac Mini (Late 2014) and ... NO INTERNET. Ethernet is plugged in, was working last night but it acts like it's unplugged now. For whatever reason my Mini REFUSES to talk to my Netgear N600 wifi router even though my Macbook Air 11 (Early 2015) and my wife's Air 11, our iPhones, iPads, and my wife's PC can connect to it just fine. Wonderful. Guess I'll try the reinstall Mac OS X trick. Can't say I'm happy.

You can use WiFi, which seems to be unaffected.

That depends on the computer. If the Ethernet card is the "primary" device then MAS uses its MAC address for some sort of authentication. No card (or in this case, disabled card) = generic error when authenticating. I've seen it before on an older machine where I replaced the physical Ethernet card.

Well, Mac Mini back in operation after doing the suggested Command + R and reinstall OS X. Takes awhile. But I have internet now. Thanks

The computer has the public key. It contacts Apple periodically and if there's an update, it is sent, encrypted with the private key, which the public key validates. So it's not a hacker. Apple delivering something like that is pretty awful, though. Mistakes happen. I used to have, before 811ac, Ethernet and wifi enabled. I turned off Ethernet when my network drive failed. If you want the corrected update, enable wifi access to the Internet and the same process will take place with the correction. Then Ethernet will work again.

I use WiFi so wasn't affected with that. However, I could not open BusyCal. Came here, did not see this thread. Fiddled around with it. Reset my Apple/iCloud password.

Finally contacted BusyCal. Within just a few hours John emailed me with a beta fix and sent me to this thread so I could know what's going on.

So I'm putting a plug in for BusyCal software support. Amazing in this day and age to get such a quick reply/fix and on Saturaday even.

I also had to reinstall some books on Kindle. Have not spent as much time as others but really...Apple?

Well, my iMac silently updated in the background, and after the reboot everything is back to normal. I'm glad I didn't bother reinstalling OS X to fix this.

But Apple's software woes are getting worse and worse and more frequent. Second time Mac App Store blocks me from using my purchased apps in just two weeks.

Whatever this is: "AppleKextExcludeList_10_11" fixed the problem for me. When my ethernet port died, it took all my App Store apps with it. Very annoying. FYS Apple!

PSA !

ATTENTION ! ! !

Just now spoke with AppleCare and there just now is a quick and short resolve. I cannot try it as I've just completed the reinstall, but according to them . . . . .

>Macintosh HD >Library >Preferences >SystemConfiguration >Networkinerface.plist

MOVE this plist file to the desktop, reboot, you should be golden. :)
