Bad news, flight out of china "Cancelled due to circumstances outside of UPS control"

For your sakes, hopefully you guys weren't on my flight. ;)

I was ready for shipment about an hour before your's and I do not see that in my tracking.

I don't think Apple is working on a strict FIFO system. If on a given day Foxconn can ship 1000 32GB Gold phones, and you're among those 1000 names next in line, your phone will move. If you are not, then you most likely will be part of the next set of 32GB Gold.

I know it's messed up, but it makes sense. Production would be crippled if each worker was assigned a new order to fill, after completing one.

Hang in there, the wait is almost over.:)

Yes, I would agree with that statement. It is not like the foreman is walking down to each employee with the name of the next phone to work on. It is probably broken up into 3 lines. Gold, Space Gray, and Silver. From there, each color group breaks down into 3 more lines based upon Carrier. Then into 3 more regarding capacity. That is the queue you sit in which i think is 27 queues to be exact. That is quite a few. (of course it could be less depending on the Cell bands and the programing of them). However what doesn't make sense are people that ordered after the 20th having their phones shipped out before launch day orders of same the spec.

My AT&T 64GB Gold is still processing. Placed the order on the 20th at 7:40am. Perhaps another call to Apple to complain may help...

Talking to the middle man never helps, I suggest learning Chinese and speaking to some one at Foxconn.

Or just be patient, it will ship in October. You will live with your 1st world problem.

Mine arrived Louisville this early morning, and was planned for delivery to New Jersey by end of day today (Next Day shipping).

For some reason it didn't go out of Louisville on the early am flights to Newark (there were 3 of them), and at 7:30am this is what I got.

Another day to wait..... :(

Oh i've been patient this long, I think that I can wait a bit longer. What I should have said was that the only thing I want from Apple is expedited shipping, which they cant give me because it doesn't exist apparently for these orders.

It's really been hit and miss. Some people said that they got it, while others (like you and I) have been told that story.

I wonder if the Apple reps just say that to placate people, but really make no changes whatsoever. They just want people to believe that they're getting better shipping.

It's a phone, whether you get it in 5 days from china once it is shipped or 2 days once it is shipped does it REALLY matter? After 1 day of it being in your hand you"ll be thinking of the iPhone 6.

About half an hour after you get off the call, you get an Order Change Confirmation email:

Well sir, you are lucky. On five different occasions, I was told that every phone is given the fastest possible shipping.

Oh well, doesn't matter. I'm just glad that my 5s is packing its suitcase, and getting ready to come home.:D

well lets break this down you will have more than 27 queues

a1533 (GSM) : 18 variants because they have to have an ATT or TMO chip in each
ATT: Gray (16,32,64), Silver (16,32,64), Gold (16,32,64)
TMO: Gray (16,32,64), Silver (16,32,64), Gold (16,32,64)

a1533 (CDMA) : 9 variants
Verizon: Gray (16,32,64), Silver (16,32,64), Gold (16,32,64)

a1453 9 variant
Gray (16,32,64), Silver (16,32,64), Gold (16,32,64)
a1457 9 variants
Gray (16,32,64), Silver (16,32,64), Gold (16,32,64)
a1530 9 variants
Gray (16,32,64), Silver (16,32,64), Gold (16,32,64)

Total 54 variants of iPhones 5s

Also I'm not sure if other models come for different carriers or not. Then also you what might be models which they might be making for a couple of the new markets they are going to launch on by 1st of Nov. and lets note forget the 5C and also most probably iPad 5 and iPad mini 2.

Correct. And eventually it was (accidentally?) left in Louisville, so another day was wasted anyway.

The only reason I asked it to be expedited (and was willing to pay for it - I didn't ask it for free, but was given it for free) is that I have someone picking it up from the US and bringing it to me, and I wanted to reduce the chance of missing the pickup.

I guess you just miss what I am saying...I have waited and will continue to wait. I would have liked the faster shipping as I usually always get it, but if I cant get it, then fine. I just dont get the huge disconnect between Apple Reps with some Reps saying "nope, no one gets next day shipping" to "sure no prob, and here's a free case for all your troubles, some coupons for money off, a unicorn, etc...".

Will I call them again? Most likely not. It is not their fault the phone hasn't shipped. I was just venting like so many people have on this thread. Apple just had a very poor launch this time around. I will get my phone eventually and be happy with it. And then yes, come next year I will be ordering the 6 and go through this all over again...

I forgot about T-Mobile...I was only calculating Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint...Yeah, there could be so many more queues, or as someone else said, they could do like 2 days of one queue, then the next day do another variant, so on and so forth...

I think what happened with apple this year compared to last, is that they usually have good amount of stock of the old phone and just lower the price and ramp up the new phone. This year they have two new phones even if the 5c has the internals of the 5. Also from what I read there is a tight supply of fingerprint sensors, and apple not allowing for pre orders on the 5s lets me believe that they knew this. I do believe that will finish everybody order or they wouldn't have pushed to other countries if they didn't think they can.

Sometimes they don't get all of the packages broken down and sorted to their individual flights. At least you know it's close by. I've had mine for almost three weeks and you are going to love it.

Sorry about that.:D

I think this entire ordeal has caused me to develop bipolar disorder.:D

Btw, how long did it take for you to go from "preparing" to "shipped"?

Just as a way to give everyone a sense of how everything is moving...

32GB Gold AT&T Iphone, confirmation email about 5:40pm on Sept 20. Card got charged this morning. No change in my order status page. Still "processing." Hopefully I will see something different, soon!

*sigh* still processing haha I hope I see change today. I have hope. :D

EDIT. AHHHHHHHHHH MY CARD WAS JUST CHARGED CANT WAIT FOR MY BABY I JUST WANNA CRY!!!!

Same here...my card was charged early this morning. As others have posted here, I still won't "count my chickens" until it actually ships. Apple.com status still says "Processing..."

Gold 32gb AT&T ordered on Apple.com, confirmation email 7:41AM PST Sept 20th.

Still stuck on processing (ordered 9/22 in the morning). 64GB Gold AT&T. Was really hoping to see some movement today, but I think I might be waiting until at least early next week...

Mine was in "preparing for shipment" for about 45-46 hours-- but it changed to that status on a Friday -- late morning of the 4th here, 1am of the 5th in China. And by the time Apple's status page updated to say it had shipped / gave me a tracking number, there technically had been 12 hours worth of UPS activity.

So there was about 31 hours actual time that passed between when I hit "preparing" and the first time stamp on my tracking number. (Assuming the time stamps for China on my UPS tracking are local to the location).

Some seem to be moving along a bit faster than that-- fingers crossed for ya!

After reading everyone's post i was starting to get excited hoping to see some movement on my phone today I ordered Sept. 20, around 9:30 am Gold 32gb Verizon. After seeing nothing and rather frustereated i called to let my voice be heard but before i could really say anything the assoicate was exstreamly apologetic and started offering me free products for my inconvinance. I guess this means she's pushing my order to the back of the line now but oh well i'm trying to be patiend but i did wait in line for hours then ended up having to order my phone any way.
