Looks like all the "online orders" where basically "made to order" in a sense.

Which is likely why orders placed online at carrier websites even weeks after launch have already been fulfilled. Apple did a great job of supplying carriers with phones, but couldn't meet demand for orders online on their own website.

I ordered at 8:44am EDT on the 20th and never once even thought about calling Apple, my shipment said "October" when I ordered. It was shipped in October, and I will get it tomorrow. In OCTOBER. I fail to see what Apple has misquoted.

While I will agree that Launch should have been Oct 20th not September 20th.

Uhhh well of course YOU don't care, you ARE getting it at an acceptable time, weeks before many others of us that ordered within hours of you who probably won't see our phones til November. It's not about misquoting, it's about simple "first come, first serve" systems that should be in place.

Imagine if you walked into a restaurant and placed your food order immediately. You wait for 2 hours but your food doesn't arrive, and then another party walks in and places their order. When you ask the waiter about your food, he says the kitchen is catching up. Then both your food and the other party's food arrives at the same time. Would you return to that restaurant? I wouldn't.

Not saying it's the same situation/industry with Apple, but that's kinda how I feel right now.

Lol! That's exactly how I feel!! Hahaha!

I imagine it's more complicated than we think it is. They increased their gold production yet it's not like they can completely stop making the other two colors. And then how much do you supply to AT&T, and T-Mobile, and other carrier stores both in the US and other countries? How many do you ship to all of the Apple stores? How many of each type of phone do you make? If you're going to continue making other colors, then of course you will end up shipping some out if order. I understand that it's hard to wait, but we have no clue what it's like to try to coordinate such a massive operation.

Calm Down, Everyone!

I know it's hard to do, but we all just need to have a little bit of patience.

Believe me, I was once in your exact position. Days on end of waiting, with no end whatsoever in sight. What we have to remember is that no matter what, you all are going to get a phone. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but you will get one. The beauty of ordering online, is that it's basically shopping on autopilot. Be glad that you don't have to go to brick and mortar stores on a daily basis, just to have the remote chance of securing one.

Despite what you may like to believe, Apple giving an estimate, is better than the "October" given before. Sure, it may not have been what you wanted to see, but it's still better than October. The way I look at it, is almost like a burden lifted off our shoulders. Before, we would wake up every morning to see if there was any change. We would go to bed every night, always looking forward to the next day. If anything, it was just a whole bunch of wasted energy. The true tragedy is that Apple stole our lives, by promising us false hope. We willed ourselves into believing that tomorrow will be the day the drought ends.

Now that there is a date, we should learn to let go. Who really cares in what order the phones are sent out, as long as they begin moving before the end of the estimate. Use this opportunity to regain your life, rather than letting Apple continue to own it. You're just beating a dead horse, by rehashing how badly Apple wronged you. Conserve your energy, and move on.

Just as a word of friendly advice: No matter how loud you scream on a forum, Tim Cook can't hear you.

Not true, I ordered a 64 FB gold from AT&T website on 9/20 @10 am pt and I'm still waiting. Seems that the gold 64 gb phone is made of unobtainium.

HA!!! "Unobtanium"... I see what you did there.:D

By the way, any changes to your tracking? Or is yours still showing arrival in Incheon, from this morning?

Sorry guys, but this is Apple we are talking about, one of the biggest companies in the world, the biggest brand in the world with billions of dollars of resources, if you believe the hype. This is not their first rodeo, so to speak. Every one of their iPhone release strategies is getting progressively worse. I've been there since day one SIX years ago so I know from experience. If this was a brand new product, I may have some sympathy and more patience. If you can't handle demand properly, you should get your supply chain in order before releasing. It's not simple, but neither is it rocket science.

I'm tired of all the apologists making excuses for them. There is no excuse for this kind of unprofessional behavior. The more you defend them, the more they feel empowered to mess with their customers the next time.

You're absolutely right, nail them to the wall. They deserve to be crucified for this entire cluster****!

However last time I checked, none of us are Apple employees. Wouldn't your effort be better used and expended, on Apple employees?

Sorry for being blunt, but you're not really addressing your concerns right now. Essentially you're shouting at the wind, hoping that the breeze will blow it toward Tim Cook's ears.

So much easier to say from a position of having your phone already shipped...and an order placed days after launch. Sorry, but personally I feel like your credibility or my willingness to listen changed once you moved from the "Processing" group to the "Shipped" group.

And btw...my purpose for continuing the discourse on the forums is not for Tim Cook to hear me (I know he doesn't waste time monitoring these)...it's to discuss with other users who are in the same predicament or who are also frustrated. To at least discuss these things while we wait for our phones to at least ship out of China.

I thought I read somewhere that the iPhone 5 didn't sell very well and there were concerns that Apple produced too many. So maybe they were going for a low estimate of the 5c & 5s selling.

Well fine... throw me to the wolves, and exile me. I'm just saying that I personally contacted Apple CSR execs, vented and spewed venom for 20+ minutes, and made peace with the situation after I got what I had off my chest.

This thread has become a far cry of the quality discussion it once held, just less than a week ago. If all it has become is a black hole of negativity, then this is something I am no longer proud to be part of contributing to.

It truly is a shame that a mere estimate has turned comrades into enemies. I hope you all enjoy the toxic environment this thread has become.

I bid you all adieu, I hope you find what you're looking for here.

I did the same THREE times. I talk to someone higher up and the only reason I did that is because I am in a time constrain (leaving the country 10/31 evening and my phone will not be here until 11/1). It's kind of hard to not feel upset towards you (nothing personal) since you are getting your phone before those that ordered before you. I am sure if the situation flipped you would have similar feelings too but may not be as verbal..... just saying. ;)

Sorry to see you go Michael, you had some great input to this thread. I think that the longer that some people wait for their phones, the more animosity develops towards the people who got lucky enough to get theirs shipped sooner. I know that it's nothing personal, just simple anger and jealousy however misdirected. I still think this thread has some valuable information that can be shared. Stick around friend !;)

Michael, don't leave on my account. Finz72 is right...I ended up taking my frustration out on you. There have been other posters on this forum that have suddenly flipped their tune once their phone ships, and I was honestly rather tired of it. Your previous posts, however, have been mostly positive.

I joined and followed this forum so that I could hear updates from others who ordered similar phones...sometimes giving me hope, other times causing me additional worry. Many of my own posts have expressed hope in spite of everything. But when people express their frustration with Apple that I share, then I want them to know that I agree with them. I feel that is another benefit of the forum. To feel heard at the very least by fellow "sufferers". I have expressed my frustrations multiple times to Apple CSRs as well as to friends who are current Apple corporate employees. Unfortunately none of them have an explanation (not that I truly expected they would).

I am happy that you were lucky enough to get your phone shipped this past weekend, and hope you are happy with it. Someday (hopefully soon) I will join you in appreciating my phone. But right now my current iPhone 4 barely functions (and I expected to have a fast, functional 5s in my hand by now). So when I hear "at least we are 100% certain we will get a phone eventually" what I really hear is "use the crappy phone you have now for another few weeks, maybe more, and then someday you'll get a functioning one"

In the end, you are right. We will get our phones. Thanks for helping me try and focus on that sometimes instead of the frustrating Order Status. I hope you'll continue to contribute positively to this forum...and I'll keep my frustrations to myself.

I tend to agree.

I ordered on the 20th too and waiting hasn't been easy, but it is what it is. I was ready to wait until the end of October because to me "October" meant any time in October. And although there were people who ordered after me who got their phones shipped before me, I wasn't pounding my fists screaming because of the unfairness. This is really becoming a bit childish. I'm not an Apple "apologist" by any stretch of the imagination. I merely try to imagine what it would be like on the other side of things. In the end, it's just a phone. If I were to get it a few weeks from now, it wouldn't change anything.

I'm moving on to the "shipped" topic.

The iPhone 5s no longer comes with the SIM card eject tool. So weird.

Breaking News: Apple reports record profits based on saving millions from not including the SIM eject tool.

I'm patiently waiting for my phones but I think Apple really dropped the ball on their supply chain management and forecasting/planning. It's pretty chaotic in the stores as well as online now. It's the first time I've had to actually wait for product from them for more than a week. Then again, I'm also ordering a slew of 64GB golds so it's reasonable to see why the wait would be more prudent.

Ugh my case came in today, but my phone I apparently have to wait until nov 1st for, what kind of ish is this!!! Thank The Lord for Pokemon XY keeping me busy or I'd have gone crazy :( I want my baby, my apple case arrived today. It's beautiful

Thanks for the kind words, gents!:)

Finz72: You and I have been teetering on the ledge many a time, during this entire ordeal. This will (hopefully) be the last time I get so close to giving up on anything.;):D

Wes129: It takes a lot of character to do what you did. I fully did not expect you to offer your hand out to me, but I commend and thank you wholeheartedly, for your gesture. This forum has been my family (in a sense) for the past 3 weeks. I joined (just like you) to gain a feel for where I was, in terms of other people's feedback. To put it lightly, the past 3 weeks have been nothing short an emotional roller coaster. I have learned to take the good and the bad, and look at every piece of news as joy for somebody.

Even though my phone has shipped, I will never forget what I wrote many moons ago on another thread (I'm sure Finz72 might remember). I want to celebrate my own good news, just as much as yours. When all of your shipping estimates slipped, it made me feel bad as well. At that moment, I realized just how damn lucky I was. This whole process has been nothing but loose order, and pure luck. Unfortunately due to the irregular and irrational nature of the process, I cannot tell you much more than my prior experience. Just remember, I will never turn my back on any of you. Everyone deserves to get their phone and be happy... it's just a work in progress, moving at a glacial pace.

You ever get any other arrival or departure scans? I only received the import scan today. Usually around here the UPS shipments get in at Midnight - 2am and show out for delivery by 8am that day. So I'm not to worried YET. :)

I have gotten squat. Since that arrival scan at Incheon this morning, I have nothing. I thought the updating system might have been broken, but your import scan dispelled that theory. I can't imagine that it's still in Incheon now... they probably just keep forgetting to scan it.
