Sept 20th orders with October ship date, Apple.com buyers. [MERGED]

Finally cancelled my order today, after sitting 'Processing' non-stop since 8AM EST on 20th Sept.
The good news is that this is because the Apple store I went to (to pick up a new laptop bag for my vacation tomorrow) heard my tale of woe (no new camera for the trip of a lifetime) and miraculously found some stock that did not yet exist...
The phone is grey, not gold, but I could not be happier. 64Gb like my original order, with grandfathered AT&T unlimited data. Apple customer service have restored my faith with an extremely happy and satisfied customer. I think they had extra pity as they know that all the phones at this store still go to scalpers lining up overnight, so that there is generally nothing to go into stock - and the AT&T 64 Grey is probably not the most popular of phones that are being snapped up. I feel ever so slightly guilty at jumping a queue (not going to post which store, so no-one gets in trouble!) but after a month of waiting with a critical date in mind, I can live with a little guilt.
Good luck to everyone still waiting, and if I there is a photo thread when I get back, I will post some of the best shots with my nice new camera
[although I take lousy shots, hoping the 5s can pull miracles and fix that for me!]

Glad you got it before your trip. I also managed to get the phone I order before my trip, after extra $100 to the scalpers, but it's well worth it. Like you, now I can use the phone to take some awesome photos! Can't believe it takes more than a month before you can get the phone you order on release day.

I was so excited Friday for phone to go to preparing for shipment but as of this am it still is. How long is it in this status?

Your not rubbig it in, just makes me want to get my phone more and make the wait worth it.
For me I had the iPhone 3G then the iPhone 4 and then I went to theHTC Titan Windows.I switched to the Samsung S3 after Microsoft decided to screw all WP7 owners with no update to WP8.
I can't wait to get back with apple with the iPhone 5s.
This will be my Apple year. I will not be buying a laptop to replace my 13" Mid 2010 Macbook pro. Instead I will be going for custom built iMac 27" (for my Photography) and a new iPad. I'm hoping the Apple TV gets some update, so I can get one .
Yes, I remember you had it worse than me, with the phone due to arrive literally the day after you leave, with the tantalizing possibility that the date may come forward just a little bit. At least I was clearly out of luck, and knew I had to take action!
I do think it is pretty horrible that people ordered on launch day and more than a month later still do not have their phones. I was lucky to get my order in 50 minutes after launch. I thought waiting 3 weeks was bad, but this is pretty horrible.

I see what you did there, that's the song from the new 5s ad. Anyone notice in the second to last slide, it says "subject to availability"? I LOLed so hard when I saw that!
At least Apple is being honest with somebody... it only took them a friggin month.

My device landed in Korea at 8AM EST. Does anyone know when it might leave there for the U.S. ?
If it gets on the plane today, it should be leaving in under 2 hours from now. The flight is UPS 99, Incheon -> Anchorage. However, you may not see an update on UPS till maybe 10:30 AM-12:00 PM EST. If by just before 5 pm EST today you still don't see a departure scan from Incheon, it did not make the flight.
Keeping them fingers crossed for you!
Edit: forgot what time it was now, Korea is 13 hrs ahead of us and not 12 like China. The plane is in the air now, and everything else I said still applies.
