I'm not seeing this. The black bands are still more expensive than their silver counterparts.
is DLC just the process that keeps the color on the band? I would be rather upset if I wait to pay this much for a band for gen two just to find out that it won't hold up the same as the ones available last week...
They're charging the same premium as before so it's possible that they've chosen not to advertise it in this round to make room for new info on the second-gen AW.
DLC is the material. PVD is the process.

It concerns the Space Black Stainless

I am in no hurry and having 2nd thoughts, have two AW1 units in the drawer.
Will check out thew new OS before I order again, might be happy with just that.
Didn't you return your SBSS AW1? Thought you had some issues and ended up just returning it?
I returned the first and bought a 42 SS with the leather loop. I waited so long for that DLC band and watch. Several months ago I bought the SB 42mm and put the leather loop on it. I can only use the watch for a few days and back to my FitBit. Just got the new Charge 2 and it is really nice. It now has interchangeable bands
, not near as nice as Apple but it is sad for Apple that I like their $149 Charge 2 better than the AW.If it is confirmed they are still using the DLC coating I might try the AW2 but now will see what new software it offers, the AW2 only offers GPS which for me does not do anything as I always carry my iPhone, even when running.
Yep, doesn't affect the regular stainless steel watches at all.

I ordered my SS SB 42mm on the launch day, since then, I wear it every day, normal use, never take extra care, occasionally bump into something, and my watch still looks exactly the same as when it was new.
On the other hand, my wife's 38mm SS + leather band shows it's age by now, especially the band.
Tonight I chatted with Apple Support about the Space Black watch in my attempt to determine the fate of the DLC coating.
Answer: She and no one else working at the time seems to know. Was advised to reach out to the "Subject Experts" during normal working hours; they might be able to help me.

This isn't true. At least in the US store. SS milanese is $149 while SB is $199 and SS link bracelet is $449 while SB is $549
I watched this unboxing of the Space Black series 2 from some Brazilian guy...it really does not look as dark as the DLC version first version. Something is up. Does anyone agree the colour/finish looks different?
I also cannot find any information on this, and I received my black SS watch today. I will be so disappointed if it no longer has the DLC coating.
