Just to spite me, the new watch already had watchOS installed so no need for a tedious update. And switching my mobile service worked perfectly.

So a S3 white ceramic and a S3 Hermes? Or just the Hermes band?

Glad we are all different as I am keeping BOTH the Ceramic Grey and Hermes Series 3:D

Remember my words, one day you all regret returning the grey:cool:

PS glad to see Matt happy again too as he finally found what he was looking for :)

Woah! Calm down there! This is me we’re talking about!

The orange sports strap has a manufacturing defect. I’ve just spent an hour in an online chat with an Apple representative to try to get a replacement. The deal is that I have to pay for a new one, I send the old defective one back, they refund the payment when they receive it.

However, their online payment system wouldn’t work. I tried three times.

So now they have to call me to get my credit card details. Which they can’t do till tomorrow. They refused to use the credit card I bought the watch with, or the one they have on file for iTunes etc.

How bad is the defect? can you take a picture?

It’s relatively trivial. But when I’m spending over £1,000 I expect perfection.

Apple is happy enough to send a replacement.

It’s that black dot. It’s not a mark on the surface. It’s embedded in the strap.

Strange. is the mark sat under the colour or on top? can you try a and remove it with a bit of alcohol?

It’s not a mark. It’s in the plastic.
[doublepost=1511437698][/doublepost]Wow. Apple Customer Service is literally the worst in the world. Bar none.

I am on my second phone call (having had two web chats of total length over one hour) and I’m currently talking to the sixth person to deal with this.

All I want is a replacement strap. This morning they got confused and agreed to send out a strap. Which they then charged me in full for because they thought I was buying a new one.

Now they’ve cancelled that. So I’m currently out £60 for a strap I’m no longer getting, and I’m still no closer to getting a replacement.
[doublepost=1511438104][/doublepost]That phone call took 15 minutes. Still no resolution. He’s going to call back.

Seriously — how is this so complicated?

He’s called back. I have some vague hope that he’s competent.

Interestingly he said (without actually saying this — calls are recorded!) that using online chat is never a smart move. Calling and talking to a human being is the way to go.

back to the watch: do you like it

Honestly? I don’t know. I like the strap. I like the watch. I just don’t know if I like them together.

You returned the gray ceramic.
Now you have the Hermès (stainless silver) with the defective orange band?

I have the series 0 SS. (Silver). I never really found a sports band I liked with it.

However I do like the Orange Hermès and think it would look great with the white ceramic.

I think the orange Hermès with the space black stainless steel would be great. It’s pretty great with the silver stainless steel.

It’s only a temporary thing with the watch as I needed the money for a deposit, hopefully in a couple of months I’ll have one back on my wrist...
If I were you, I would wait until next year to reclaim the ceramic or Apple edition due to the high possibility of design change and more advanced technology with longer battery life for LTE.
