10-4, thanks for the response. Just curios as I decided to go with the 38mm ceramic, felt more like a watch for me and less in the way to get knocked around with daily wear, which is important for me as someone who's very active in the gym, mountain/road-biking, a full-time student and father of three young babies. I haven't seen too many folks go for the 38mm.

I work in a hospital environment. I tend to see a 50/50 split in the sizes.
mostly space gray.

I have only seen 2 other people with ceramic.
One was a woman with the 38 and it looked sharp.
We got talking and she actually purchased the 42 but returned it.
One of the main reasons was the same as yours, working out and activity.
I am not sure I would consider the 38 ceramic but a SBSS for sure.

My brother (nurse) has a 38 and I tried to give him a 42 and he didn't like the size.

I would love to see the numbers of how many ceramics are out in the wild and the size break down.

Ironically I'm a student going into the medical field and spend a lot of time in the hospital environment for clinicals (hearts and vessels-Ultrasound)... I work with my hands a lot, so it's funny that you mention that you and your brother work in same field as well. Also, my wife and several of my in-laws are all nurses (4 others in total).

I'm curious to know sales in regards to the two sizes as well considering it seems like most folks go for the 42mm, particularly men occupying online forums.... However, I see plenty of the 38mm out in the wild as well... and I have yet to see anyone give any attention/love to the 38mm ceramic lol... well, iJustine (channel) on youtube did.

The 38mm also sits in this corner nook on my wrist and doesn't go past a certain point... when I had the 42mm, it would go just outside my wrist enough to rub on counters, etc. when wresting my arms to type, hold paperwork enter text in on scanning equipment, etc. I'd say my wrists are on the average high side at 7.3", so proportions wasn't fully a concern, weight/comfort is what it boiled down to for me. The 42mm in ceramic looked flashier, but for me the fit/comfort, lighter weight, athletic appearance won me over.

I'll miss the real estate on the 42mm screen, but all the other qualities amounted to of greater importance to me... just wish I got more than a $50 break between the two ceramic/edition sizes lol... 38mm should at least be $200 cheaper in my opinion :p

Thanks for sharing and enjoy!

I am faced with a delima. Since April I have lost 50 pounds. I am 5-6 weigh 206 and now 155. The 42 is almost too big for my wrist.
Not to mention having to buy new clothes, jackets and such.
Tried a 38 Nike on and it didn’t look bad.

Oh man, definitely a dilemma lol. Well, you know my reasons. I don't need the larger screen as I use my watch for mostly notifications, quick voice to text responses, etc. I'm less likely to want to wear the larger watch due to weight and not wanting to damage it. The 38mm for me just feels more streamlined in day to day use and less likely to get knocked, snagged and damaged (with how it fit my wrist). Battery life from some tests I looked at online were about the same for both (38 and 42mm) for regular usage scenarios... so battery wasn't much of a factor for me any longer as I can get through the day on a full charge for 42 or 38mm.

Since this is the ceramic thread, go for a White edition in 38mm :p

Since getting the white edition 38mm, I've gotten a few compliments about my "white watch." Many folks have surprisingly noticed. Easily matches with most day to day outfits whether casual or dressed for the occasion.

Oh, and congrats on the weight loss ! ! ! That's quite the accomplishment.

Thank you.
Having the white edition, which I love, it seems to be easier to match more bands to attire.

If I opt to get another watch before the next version cycle. it would be the SBSS 38 with the link band and a black leather band. However the most likely scenario is to wait for the next version edition and pick up a used SBSS version 3.

The ultra violet band with the white edition is awesome.
If anyone told me that I would be wearing a white watch and multi-colored bands 3 years ago I would have told them they were high.

Good call on waiting for a next gen, no rush.

I purchased WatchDots for my Ceramic Gray. It looks better with the black crown. It fits well but not perfect. A bit disappointed with how the company handled the order however. It took over three weeks for me to receive the product. Purchase at your own risk.

Did you order the XL or regular dots?
Yes they take forever and with little to no communication

I ordered the XL. It seems to be the only option on their website now. I saw someone try the non-XL version and you can see a lot of the red. The XL covers most of it. At a distance it is not noticeable. Took three weeks since I ordered it to get it.

Does anyone have a sticky and sometimes mushy Digital Crown? I had a series 0 and seem to remember the crown not being so darn sticky. Once I get it Unstuck it seems to spin fine. Tried the warm water trick suggested by Apple without much change...

I was just thinking this today. Mine on the white ceramic series 3 has gone quite sticky. I have run under water and rotated the crown, but there is something much sticker than previous versions on this one. I might have it looked at soon.

The water works temporarily but about an hour later sticky again. Strange thing is that it was not like this when I bought it at launch

If I had to take a guess, perhaps this has something to do with the waterproofing/gasket getting broken/worn in a little? Just a thought worth considering.

Valid thought but is everyone having this occur? Based on the manufacturing process for these watches I’m assuming the gaskets are pressed into the housings at a pretty consistent rate

I ended up sending it in for service at the Apple store. The Genius Bar staff agreed that the button felt sticky, even after he did some special power wash method of cleaning in the back.
I hate refurbished goods so I hope that since the ceramic 3 is so new that they won’t have any refurbs and send me a new replacement

Finally an owner of a Grey Ceramic Apple Watch! I had the SBSS for 2 weeks before deciding I wanted to upgrade to the ceramic for the increased durability and weight savings. I love the ability of leaving my phone behind on short trips out of the house, and I also leave my phone at home when I go swimming at the local pool in the mornings. Will post some glamour shots later this evening!

I’m debating between a ceramic and stainless steel. Not trying to rub anyone the wrong way because I really want to like the ceramic, but in every photo it just looks plasticy. Is this a case of pictures not doing it justice?
