i ALWAYS use it when im not at home with a wifi. i use it when i drive to get directions with maps because i am constantly driving. i use it when im tethering. i dont get to connect to the wifi here at the work office.

Ive used 3G data Quite a few times while talking. Not really a deal breaker for me but nice to have. Hah once I directed a non-smartphone friend to the closest theater to him while on a trip in San Franciso. I was at work (no wifi there). I'll keep Att.

Please honest answers only.

How often do you use voice and data simultaneously when you're NOT connected WiFi network? Think about it. Because 99% of my day, everyday I'm at work or home or a friends house and all three have WiFi.

I am on Verizon with a Droid X and I very comfortably use data and talk at the same time anytime I need to. The only time I'm not near a WiFi network is when I am driving and when I am driving, I am not surfing the web, especially when on a call.

AND to top it off, if you are an Optimum or Time Warner customer, it's likely there is free wifi for your entire county.

I do not think the lack of this feature is a big deal with WiFi literally everywhere. Especially a feature that isn't really used that often to begin with. Look at the commercials Apple has produced. NONE of them are real life situations.

I use 3G much more than Wifi.

About 98% of Wifi is Secure. And when I can pick up free Wifi, it's usually the same or slower speeds or just lags for some reason.

And being that I'm on the road traveling a lot, I have no choice but to rely on 3G most of the time.

Only at home do I really connect to Wifi automatically.

Most of my use with voice and data simultaneously is on 3G.

I don't feel the need to connect to every wifi spot I have access to, being that 3G speeds have been adequate enough.

And truthfully, the main reason I love voice and data at the same time is when my girl or mother calls me and decides to blah blah blah for more than I can take. I just put them on speaker and browse the web. :D

Sorry, but AT&T has nothing but this one teeny thing on Verizon. And this teeny thing doesn't matter to many people, again, because of WiFi.

I guess Rollover minutes which allows me to choose the lowest minutes package and being able to swap my sim are two more teeny things. :p

at least 2/3 times a day during the work week.

I always have to google something or check epocrates, some other medical app, emailed pics, etc. while on the phone at the same time.

Considering the millions who currently manage perfectly without it, i'd say it's not a deal breaker for many.

Congrats that you haven't needed to. Others, including myself, have needed this feature. I use it probably 2-3 a week, while my wife uses it 2-3 a day.

I guess I just don't talk on the phone that much. Sorry all...

didn't even bother to read your post past "How often do you use voice and data simultaneously when you're NOT connected WiFi network?"

I do it everyday no lie...when talking on the phone with my gal and she's just yapping away I search for apps, I look at the map app while on the phone to confirm my route...I love that I can download music OTA on iTunes while I'm on the phone also...it's really a convenience you can only appreciate if you have the ability to do so

:D sooo true. Every day!

Have it, use it, wont do without it. Just as some people are not willing to settle on other things I may settle on, I like my AT&T phone, I think the phone is perfect and AT&T is as good as if not better in my area then VZ was for me.

Too often to quantify in a "how often" way. Daily? Hourly? Also, your assertion that wifi is "everywhere" is pretty ridiculous. It's not on my bus, it's not on my metro, it's not on Mall where I play frisbee, it's not on the walk between my office and the metro, it's not in the 7-11 where I buy cigarettes, it's not on every street I walk down...I can steal it at my guys place, but it's unreliable....should I keep going? I can understand that you people may never use it, I just don't understand why you would buy a phone that benefits heavily from a persistent internet connection and not be able to use it as such. This is also beyond my lack of desire to connect to every random, unsecured network out there. To do so is just....foolish.

Grr i said i was sorry

oh jeez who cares? do your feelings get hurt when people point out this flaw in your wireless provider? Verizon is a corporation who does not give a rats a$$ about you other than taking your money every month.... so stop getting your feelings hurt and defending them... I'm an AT&T customer and hate verizon but could care less about people bashing AT&T's network... why? because AT&T does not share their profits with me so why waste my time defending them.....

The only thing I care about is that AT&T now has some competition so they have to step it up and that benefits ME.

The thing is, never, make a thread discussing how no one does X, just because you don't.

My point was not that I don't do something, it was that me and MANY people are almost always near a WiFi on NORMAL days.

I've used it more times than I can count, usually to do stuff like look up a phone number for someone I'm talking to at the same time, things like that. If I'm at home (with wifi), I'll generally just look stuff up on the computer rather than on the phone, so the only times I really use that functionality is when wifi's not available.

You can look up an e-mail you have already received. You just can't recieve a new one.

Like if I'm on a call with my boss and she emails me something I need to look at? "sorry, let me hang up, look at the email, then call you back?" That dog won't hunt, Monsignor, at least not where I work.

If she's on the phone with you why is she emailing you?

Well it's not a huge deal, but it is certainly at an advantage to have that option. Not sure it'd be a deal breaker for many though.

I use it very often also.
Picture this:
You're tethering to your laptop using your verizon smartphone and you're trying to download a program or a file off the internet.
Then someone calls you and your download stops and obviously fails. You answer the call, hey dude Im trying to download something on my computer. I'll call you back.
Then you start again, the download gets to around 90% and you get another call:D
Damn it. Just gotta pray nobody decides to contact you while you're trying to do anything important.
It would drive me nuts:D

If she's on the phone with you why is she emailing you?

Maybe she already emailed him prior to that and wants to verify and go over some info?
Common dude, you're serious?
You're really trying to justify that the talk and acesss data is insignificant? Maybe to you but to others its a must have.
If you dont use it or need it then good. Its a limitation many can live with and others cant. Go for it and dont try to disprove everyone elses need for its use.
