Whats that saying. Straight but not narrow minded?
1 wife, 1 child. Baby Grace, the love of my life.

Macs are firmly rooted in the creative community. The creative community has a large representation of homosexuals. It just kindof makes sense.

Hey, back when I was single and I needed to get some color ideas to paint my house, who do you think I called? Bob my friend the roofer? or Bruce my friend the interior designer? (He also laid out my perennial garden and helped me with landscaping. Every straight guy should have at least one gay friend. I help him fix his car. He comes clothes shopping with me.

To all you guys who are still in the closet, my heart goes out to you. I have gay friends who span the spectrum from closeted to "I'm here I'm queer get used to it". And the closeted guys are generally stressing under the weight of their secret. Good luck.

Wow. Very insightful and genuine. You sound like the kind of guy who would be a great friend. Your friends, both Bob and Bruce, are lucky to have you.

Unfortunately, I have to teach my straight guy friends how to fix their cars too. ;) You're right- you guys do need us, especially when it comes to how to treat women. And yeah, there's always the clothing thing. :D

Well, at least you are man enough to admit that there is give and take and that two worlds can live in harmony when tolerance and understanding are used.

And yes, you do need us for shopping. The first time I took my boyfriend to meet my sister and brother in law they were suit shopping for my brother's in law new job. Some of his choices were atrocious.

I love this post, and so like Lee, andrewxps, and newappleboy, I'm going to quote it. :)

And let's face it, if you're married, having a gay guy around can only be good from a husband's vantage point. ;):D

I like you.

I'm a bi-sexual guy and proud of it! I'm 'out' to my close friends and to my Mum, Brother and Sister but nobody else. A few people at work suspect I have inclinations towards other guys, but I'm leaving them hanging with an acknowledgement. I've had a couple of serious relationships with guys, but none with women. Plenty of one night stands with the female of the species though, of which I'm not particularly proud of anymore. At 21, I'm not in a rush to get into a relationship with either 'he or she', but hey, if the right person comes along then I'm game.

I'd also like to say that as you can tell from my profile, I've been a member here for 11 months and I've only posted 22 times (this being my 23rd). So you could class me as lurker. I visit the forums near enough every day, and after reading this thread it has surprised me at how nice and civilised the members of MacRumors are. So I'm making a vow to myself to become part of this great community. I look forward to crossing your paths again soon!

BTW, I'm Ryan, 21, from Shrewsbury (UK). Nice to meet you. ;)

I'm sure somebody out there will take you up on that offer.

Calling dibs are we?

Anyway, since I live in one of those wacky liberal gay infested cities, there's much discussion of identity politics, like identifying as queer vs GLB or T, identifying as something else or sometimes not preferring to be identified at all. There's a gay and lesbian studies minor at SF State, so there's a lot of people discussing stuff like this. I'd like to hear from the people who feel that they don't quite fit into that all encompassing acronym, or hear thoughts on identity politics, etc.

I identify as gay, but am by no means an "out and proud" kind of guy. Those who are important to me know, but I don't broadcast it. As the wise Brian Kinney once said on "Queer as Folk" - "Unless I'm *$*#ing you, it's none of your business." Harsh, but true.

Being gay is just one piece of me. It's what I am, not who I am. It in no way really "identifies" the kind of person I am. I don't like to style hair, interior design is not my dream job, I don't hit the raves twice a week, I don't conduct in promiscuity, I've never done drugs, etc. The list of things that people link to being gay is lengthy, and I might be able to be linked to a small few of those items. As I'm sure is the case with more of the homosexual community than most would believe.

The world is quick to judge and throw everyone in a category, and this only causes more and more problems. There shouldn't be a need to identify. Sexuality shouldn't be the kind of thing that comes up in a day-to-day discussion simply because it shouldn't be what you feel defines you. If you're defined by who you have sex with, I feel sorry for you and what kind of life you're likely living.

I'm gay :)

Out to friends but not family though I think my mum knows..
I was in the car on the way home from a party and I was having a few friends over to stay. One of them was a girl so my mum was saying things like "I'm not so sure about you having a girl staying in your room." My friend then comes out with "Oh no! It's ok! I'm gay, Euan's gay and so is- ..oh." I was rather intoxicated though so I don't remember much of it :3

She hasn't said anything to me about it yet so I presume it's all ok.

Yeah, your Mom's probably figured it out! I just about spewed all over my keyboard when I read your post. That's what friends are for, to tell our parents what we're afraid to.

Civil and clean (ish) thread so far. BTW, I'm gay.

Also, there was a really good article on the NYT Sunday, called Young Gay Rites.

It was well written and about gay marriage for 20 somethings. Well worth a read

Yes, the New York Times article was a really well written and made a good read. I sent it on to scemO who enjoyed it as well. Oh, he and Jack are doing well and scemO's right back into study mode.

For those that may not have spent a day or two reading the old and infamous 'GayWay' thread I'm gay, and I did cast my vote in the first day or so of this thread.

Play and stay safe, Kevin.
