Reventon Yellow Hybrid Ex Quick Review
I just recieved my SGP Neo Hybrid Ex in Reventon Yellow.
My first impression: Pretty cheaply made IMO. The Silicone is a non grippy silicone which IMO feels horrible in the hand, I'm scared I might drop my phone. As far as looks go, looks pretty good for sure, my only concern is how uncomfortable I am holding it. Volume and sleep/wake Buttons are easy to use, and pretty responsive. Decent lay on the table design. As far as the charger port, will work with only SOME 3rd party accessories, did not work with my Incase Dual Charger (the one with the bigger adapter), with my hula case, it worked fine. The headphone jack, kind of small, probably will work with only certain headphones. This looks almost exactly like the Apple bumper, the only thing better on this case is the access to the ringer switch is easy to get to and the fact that it comes with screen protectors. And the fact that you can change out the VERY fragile bands to different colors.
Overall: I'd perfer the Apple Bumper over this because of the grip when holding it in the hand, everything else to me looks almost exactly the same besides what I mentioned above.
With that said, I'm very disappointed, I was expecting a lot more of a better product when I purchased this due to all the hype that was coming from this case, as well as the looks. If they made the silicone a lot more grippy like the Apple Bumper, this could be my case of choice. That is my biggest complaint.
My Case-Mate Hula is still my favorite bumper style case, with tons better grip (without attracting lint), easily usable with every 3rd party dock, chargers, and headphones (that I've used, quite a few), and the clear band lets you see the stainless steel antenna, does it get any better? There's not much more room to improve in a bumper style case. But I won't knock this case just yet, I will give it the benefit of the doubt and I will give it a shot and use this case for a few days or until my phone slips out of my hand, and I'm very careful with my phone. Lets see if the results change from my first impression.
Lets get to the photos, sorry for the horrible lighting, wasn't at my house.
With White Leather SGP Skin Guard:
Side by side next to the Hula, my fav bumper.
One more small complaint: Not sure if you can see it in the photos but the outer plastic doesn't line up around the volume buttons evenly, the volume buttons are slightly leaning up but the volume buttons still work fine and are responsive as if they are still right over the volume buttons underneath which makes me believe this is just the way the case is made, I took this case off and then put it on again a few times, didn't seem to fix the issue, this an issue with anyone else?
