hey maverick, what screen protector are u using? does it align perfectly w/ the neo hybrid ex?

Looks like a brushed aluminum. It is closer to a light grey than silver, but I like it.

I think it looks very well made.

The inner layer is very soft and is sitting just over the edge of my Steinheill AF and there is no bubbling or lifting.

A+

It's the SGP Ultra Fine Anti-Fingerprint protector and it worked just fine with the case. I also have a PhantomSkinz matte back and no problems there either.

I should also mention that taking the outer frame off isn't exactly an easy task. I have to really dig my fingernails in between the outer frame and the silicone layer in order to get the outer frame to start sliding off. The piece of mind there is that the case won't be coming off easily but because the outer frame is very flimsy, it's not something I want to put on and take off too often.

Is anyone else's silicon extremely loose fitting before you apple the outer case? I expected the silicon to be more like a rubber band and hug the phone instead of being so loose fitting. It gets better when the outer frame is applied, but still loose.

Also, the build quality of the silver piece (the paint job is pretty awful) is flimsy as well. I just expected a more tightly fitted case (similar to their video), but mine will definitely let debris get into the sides of the phone.

oh ok, if i do get this case i might as well use the screen protector that it comes with.

though taking off the case might scare the hell out of me, having to dig ur fingernails in? im afraid i would break that case!

As for the silicone layer, it looked pretty apparent from the SGP video of case assembly that the silicone layer was relatively loose. That surprised me too but I figured they must have done it intentionally.

As for the "paint job", the pigment and metal flake should be molded into the polymer, not painted on. Since that technology has been around for 40 years and is the standard process for the polymer industry, SGP would have to be idiots to paint a piece of polycarbonate that will be exposed to any sort of wear. With the pigments in the polymer, scratches won't show as much because the material underneath is exactly the same color as the exposed material.

Care to post a pic?

Yeah the silicon is very loose fitting but that didn't surprise me as much as how cheap it felt. With the polycarbonate frame on, there is a small amount of play on the sides but for me it's not loose enough where it would be a problem in my pocket, etc.

I'm a long time lurker but love all the information shared on this board. I thought I'd add my $0.02. I usually just put a Zagg full body shield on with a PS crystal film on the screen and call it a day so this is my first "case" ever on any of my iphones or ipods, because this solution looked pretty cool. I just got the silver matte neo ex. You can see the seams on the frame the corners, at least on mine too. Also, I still use the old style usb cable from my older ipods where you press the sides to retract the side pins in order to insert the connector (I know, I'm strange). If there's anyone as weird as me, then a word of warning that the connector doesn't fit. I ended up enlarging the connector hole by filing the case. After filing the case I could see that the underlying polycarbonate is white so I'm guessing the color on the silver frame is painted on, though I'm not a plastics expert by any means. However, my frame does fit pretty tight with hardly any play, definitely less than my free apple bumper, but maybe that's because I have the side Zagg skin on underneath.

That actually reminds me, I do have a set of Lucky Labs spectra wraps on the sides of my phone so that might make the fit ever so slightly more tight. Probably not a huge difference but hence why I don't see the small amount of play on the sides as a problem.

I have the same coverings on my sides and still very loose.

I have no side protection. It's still tighter than bumper or scosche bandedge. Don't see any seam issue either. It's too bad others have issue since I really like the case.

The seam issue for me isn't a big deal, it's just a vertical line at each corner assuming that's what is meant as "seam." Plus, in the end it's going to get dinged up anyway, but that's the point of the protection. ;) Actually, in the end, I like the case!

Okay I got mine this morning... and here is my initial review.

First of all, it really is pretty to look at. The silver satin that I received resembles the finish on a MacBook Pro or iMac. It's lighter than the actual metal band on the iPhone 4 but definitely silver brushed look. Installing it was actually very easy, took me about 20 seconds honestly, some of the things said on here are a little exaggerated. It fits very snug and has a nice lip around the bezel so your screen or back is not touching the surface just like the Apple bumper. The buttons all click well and are implemented just right, and the vibrate switch is much easier to access than it is with the bumper.

Now for the quality and feel. The quality honestly is a bit lacking. The band itself is very flimsy and thin. The worst part of the entire case to me is the fact that it makes the phone very slippery. The Apple bumper that I like so much makes the phone very easy to hold onto, whereas with the Hybrid I feel like I'm going to drop it when I hold it to navigate the screen. So here is my breakdown.

PROS

-Beautiful to look at
-Easy to install
-Maintains the overall look and form factor of the iPhone 4
-Provides the best screen protectors and back side shields in the market with the crystal shields.

CONS

-Feels cheap in the hand
-Not sure how it would hold up over time, scratches etc.

CONCLUSION:

If you like the minimalist and attractive look of the iPhone 4, then this is the case for you. If you have an Apple Bumper now, I would stick with it as honestly it feels better in the hand with the bumper (although the Hybrid is prettier). Durability and potential drops with the slippery feel could be a problem for some.

thanks for the review coleman. it seems that this case has a consistency of being flimsy and low quality. i was looking forward to buying this case, but oh well! thx for all the input guys.

I got mine today too. I am still not sure I like it. The plastic is really crappy feeling but I do like the feeling of the back. I was also hoping that the black stuff fit more snug, but with the plastic thing on it doesn't feel like it is coming off or anything like that.

Wow! They look really stunning! I want one, but is the button issue a serious one?

I don't have any button issues. They are easy to click. If you have large fingers, the silent switch might be an issue.

how thick is the rubber material?

Probably as thick as what's on Bumper and Scosche Bandedge. If those two were 2 pieces, they will probably be just as flimsy. Once you put the EX together, it feels just as solid as the two.

All three aren't going to offer much protection and you shouldn't expect them to be without hard back.

yea good point, i think this case is officially off my "to buy" list.
