SGP NEO HYBRID EX is now available

haha i agree with kingalien, Larry has the best reviews. Many of the others on youtube just want to show there faces and bs and give us a minimal reveiw. Larry goes all out with his reveiws... One of the best out there.

I just ordered the yellow and a carbon back. Should be really nice!

I ordered my reventon yellow on the 1st Oct and never got any shhipping confirmation. Received it on the 19th, to be fair im in Australia. I must say i absolutely love the case. Although i do understand how some people broke their frame, it really is terribly thin near the dock connecter. As long as you take care of it i guess it should be alright. Here is a review i did on it
:)

I installed my dante red neo hybrid yesterday and as fate would have it, I dropped it from about 5 feet onto my concrete driveway! To my pleasant surprise the phone came through totally unscathed save for a very tiny almost unnoticable chip in the red paint. I am impressed and I now have more faith in this case than I do the apple bumper.

Another observation I made is that reports of this case's flimsy plastic are to me, highly exagerated. Yes, out of the box it is thin and flimsy and if you get too aggressive it could break. However, that flimsiness is necessary to flex it over the silicone. Once installed the plastic and silicone more or less act as one unit which is quite solid. The weakest point is around the docking port, but even there it simply isn't going to break with normal use. I pushed on that are as hard as I could with my thumb and it just barely even flexes. The pictures you see of that area breaking are from people FORCING 3rd party cables into or out of the slot. I see no other way it could happen.

I've been on the fence with this case because I feared the buttons would feel rubbery and cheap compared to the Apple bumper. Can someone comment on their feel?

To those that got the Matte, how is the silicon back handling over time? I heard that the silicon starts to sag after some use.

Actually the buttons feel great. They're not metal of course but they are really easy to push and you get great feedback.

I've only had mine for about a week but the silicone is ok so far. If it starts to sag I'll be contacting SGP about it for sure.

They are rubbery and cheap looking up close but the feedback is just as good.

How is this different or better than an apple bumper?
It looks the same.

Yes they are similar but it fits tighter, slimmer, more colors, and comes with front/back screen protectors. Check out Larry's youtube review above.

I think you might be overstating this a little. I really don't think the buttons look cheap and they don't feel rubbery to me either. The silicone is a really different type of silicone than most of us are used to (I know Larry said the same thing in his review and I totally agree). Most other silicones are very rubbery and have an almost greasy feel to them - this is really smooth and matte and not at all like any silicone case I've ever seen. It actually feels more like TPU to be honest with you.

I would agree that the metal buttons of the Apple bumper are nicer but these buttons aren't bad at all.

I agree, the silicone is not like silicone at all. This is one of the reasons i live the case is because it does not collect lint on it due to its smoothness. Although i do know why some think the buttons are cheap and thats because its printed grey. To me the print looks great but up close i guess some meticulous people might call it tacky? I personally love it. The bad finishing on the inside of the frame kinda bumped me out for a bit but after putting it on the phone i was completely sold. I feel like buying another one for back up now :D

I just got mine

This thing was hard to put on. I felt like I was going to break it

And it does look cheap compare to the bumper

I ruined my screen protector tryin to pit this case on. In the corner

This should of been one piece

I don't plan on takin this off to clean it like I did with the bumper it might break or ruined another screen protector

Rubbery isn't necessarily bad, but the printed gray is what makes it look cheap. On mine (especially the sleep button), its not even printed that cleanly when you look at it up close. The buttons aren't bad at all, it's just that I'm picky. I would use the phone naked if it was possible so it's "cheap" by comparison. It's still my favorite case so far and I own more than I'd like to admit :D

Did you try to put the top/sides on first then slide the outer piece simultaneously on the bottom corners? I've done it 3 times and it's gone on pretty easily for me all times.

Anyone who's gone with the white, light blue, or pink? I'm sick to death of silicone/rubber/whatever cases picking up stains from pockets and purses--the colored Apple bumpers are really bad about this, and I'm a little hesitant to drop another $30+ just to end up with the same problem again.

If I knew this didn't do that, I'd consider the white, but if others are seeing the same problem, maybe I'm better off with the silver/black combo? (Assuming the silver part doesn't do the same thing...LOL)

Hey guys, im wondering anyone's tried putting a black carbon rear skin guard (or any back panel overlay)over a back panel already wrapped with something like a Zagg invisibleshield? Essentially two layers? Would that work? Furthermore, would a bumper like the NEO Hybrid EX fit over both even with a front screen protector in place?

It's a combination im thinking about, as i would like to leave the invisibleshied on for the life of the phone for it's overall protection, but also enjoy the ability to change it's outward appearance every now and then.

Haven't tried this with the Hybrid EX....yet....however you can put a dual setup like this on. If this Hybrix EX is anything like the bumper (in terms of size) then the rear carbon skin should fit within the recessed area of the bumper and not all the way to the sides like a normal screen protector. I'm sure there are carbon skins out there that apply like a normal screen protector and go to the edge when applying.

If the carbon back you have is smaller then a normal screen protector then you shouldn't have any problems with the case. If yours is the same size as a screen protector then you'll have issues (potentially) with the Hybrid EX lifting the skin off whenever you try to put it on.

Also, if you're planning on changing the back skins frequently then you'll obviously run into some issues with peeling the ZAGG skin off as well.

As the poster above this said, you will be fine with just a dual setup since the Hybrid EX is bundled with a front and back screen protector. I am currently using the SGP incredible shield matte on the back and an ultra crystal for the front and both work flawlessly with EX. I did this because one glossy screen is more than i can handle, having two to clean is just a nightmare. I thought it would be ugly at first but then turned out they make a great combination. I know this is drifting away from your question but i just wanted to throw in my experience. :)

I think that the poster above is asking about fit more in regards to the thickness that two back shields (an InvisibleSheild type on the bottom, and a carbon style on top of that). I think it'd fit fine, without the Hybrid case bubbling it, but I doubt you'd be able to remove the carbon top skin without peeling the Zagg off as well. The InvisibleShield style skins don't adhere to the glass back of the iPhone 4 as well as they did to the plastic backed 3G/3GS, and in fact, are very easy to pull off the glass. I routinely pull my BestSkinsEver (same material as the Zagg product) on and off my iPhone 4, and just store it on a piece of waxed paper when I'm not using it. The adhesive on the back of the carbon skin would probably bond to the plasticy material of the Zagg, and pull both off very easily.

NEO Hybrid Matte

Just wanted to chime in, I received my Gunmetal Matte last week, it was a little tight fit but I got it on and I love it. The silicone is great and I lvoe the color. I pre-ordered from teh SGP site for the order to be shipped on the 15th. Mine actually shipped on the 13th. and I got it on the 16th. I will be ordereing another one.
