The money is technically "on hold". Apple checks to make sure the funds are available, puts a hold on that amount, but won't actually charge you until it ships. It make take 5-7 days, but you should see the money come back to your account. At least until it actually ships, that is :)

Same thing happened to me. I saw the money taken out, then 5 days later saw it "returned". I thought Apple canceled my order but it was just a pending hold.

IPHONE 4 BLACK 32GB-USA

Ships: Jul 22
Delivers Jul 27 by Standard Shipping

I ordered on Apple.com on 6/30 and it says my shipdate is July 22 with an expected arrival on July 27th.

Talk about lame. They took the money out of my account in a matter of hours though. So I technically paid for it a week ago and wont see it for roughly 3 more weeks.

I really hope it comes in early.

Ordered on the afternoon of the 24th and it went to Prepared for Shipment sometime in the last 36 hours or so. :D

Just got my shipment notification and tracking info from Apple. Est. Delivery on 7/13. According to Fedex it's in transit to LANTAU ISLAND HK

Service type is International Economy Distribution - Indirect Signature Required :( Was kinda hoping for overnight but oh well, I can wait until next week if needed.

If any one hasn't ordered AT&T has a batch in now it looks like with free overnight shipping i gave up on mine and ordered through At&t i gave up the fact people who have orderd after the 21 have there iPhones shipped out allready anyway good luck if you guys can get it through AT&T

Wow, I'm pretty annoyed! I ordered my phone WAY before a lot of the people here and I'm still stuck on prepared for shipment! I'd love to know Apple's shipment process. It's a pretty crappy one if you ask me.

Add me to the list of the annoyed... I ordered mine on June 17th at 8pm. Still "Prepared for shipment".

just took delivery of my two 32gb iphone 4s! activated mine and it seems good - no yellowing i can detect. now syncing up from my old 3g backup.. exciting!

Good for you, but that sucks for some of us. We ordered a full week before you and still nothing.

Apple's shipping is horrendous.

Why does apple put ANOTHER hold charge on my bank account only to have my status remain in pfs, only to let the charge expire and not ship my phone. Just ship already its been four days in the same status wtf:mad::mad::mad:

My first order was placed on 6/15 and then randomly cancelled by Apple...my second order was placed on 6/19 and has been sitting in prepared to ship since saturday morning. I called Apple to make sure there was anything wrong with my order (I'm paranoid since the first order was cancelled and they were never able to figure out why it was cancelled) and the rep I talked to said that everything looked fine and they were just waiting for ATT to do the upgrade on my line. I called ATT and they said that it didn't show that any upgrade/activation was pending, and they called Apple who again said everything looked fine and that my order was still scheduled to ship on 7/14. I have no idea why they place orders in "prepared to ship" status 2 weeks before they are actually going to ship it.

I used my Wells Fargo Platinum Cash Back Visa card to purchase my iPhone, and a few hours after I got my shipping notification, I got a phone call saying that I had suspicious activity on my Visa card that they needed to verify

Charges they wanted me to clarify:
Apple Store $199 (iPhone, obviously)
Zagg.com $27.98 (Invisible Shield)
Zagg.com $33.00 (3 day temporary hold)
City Utilities $16.** (for my old house I'm trying to sell, out of state)

Odd that they didn't list the Bumper I ordered last week on there either, but of course that hasn't shipped, so maybe they just haven't charged it.

WF also threw a fit when I ordered an iPad back in March, and also last month when my iPad Camera Kit finally decided to ship. The rep told me that Apple Store is a very popular fraud destination...

I'm surprised that they actually shipped my iPhone when there was a block on the transaction. I guess I should consider myself lucky.

Just throwing my two cents into the mix.

At 6:35pm today, I received the AT&T Customer Service Summary. My phone, ordered through the Apple store, is still in Prepared for Shipment status as of the same time.

I ordered the 16GB version on 6/23/10 at 9:33AM PDT. I'm not expecting it until the 15-19th, so if I get it early that's just a bonus.

Still on Prepared to Ship since Friday for me too. Although they decided to charge my card for real yesterday.

Prepared for Shipment: July 2nd
IPHONE 4 BLACK 16GB-USA

AT&T OLAM shows my contract renewed for July 5 2012 and upgrading that line shows full price phones, so they have no excuses now...

I don't know if this mean anything, but I'm still stuck on prepared for shipment, but just received a email from at&t saying

"Thank you for choosing at&t and iphone" and all this stuff about reviewing my account and stuff
