i have tried them all and i think 'layers' is the best drawing/painting program out there....my 2 cents.
iphone/ipad drawings using layers: http://wacsoiphone.blogspot.com

Checked out your site and love your paintings! I think this is my favorite.

wow! All of these sketches you guys created are incredible. Lots of talent on this board. This makes me very eager to try out this iPad app.

Awesome stuff!

Having a mobile art studio was one of my primary reasons for buying an iPad. I even sketched out my next Marvel cover concept on it (which was subsequently approved and I'm finishing on my MBP right now.) Making quick color studies on the go has never really been possible before without hauling around a watercolor set.

Cheers!

This is a great thread!!! So much talent on here!

I can't wait to get my iPad and one of the paint apps. I have sketchbook pro and brushes on my iPhone.

Once I get mine I'll start posting my stuff (which is horrible cause I have no artistic talent) but I have fun with it anyway :D

Any takes on which app is closest to Corel Painter? (I love painter and would love if they'd make an iPad app but I know that wont happen).

Read one of my earlier posts ;)

Brushes is the closest to Corel Paint.
Sketch Book Pro is most like, sketchbook pro funny enough.
Art Studio is alright but it's menu systems and general feel are appropriate for it's budget price tag. It lacks general refinement.
Layers Pro has the best 'blending' tools but has a few quirks & bugs that put it just behind brushes & sketchbook, but it's better than Art Studio.

Here is one using Sketchbook Pro. There are a few features I'd like to see such as a favorite brush feature and a gesture based eye dropper tool.

Nice drawing - and a great beer!!

If you push and hold on the color you want the eye dropper comes automatically. (if that's what you mean)

Just saw the new Brushes update is out. Don't have an iPad yet, but it looks like simulated pressure sensitivity and brush smoothing has been added. Very cool!

I have this on my iPhone and was dissappointed when it wasn't released as a universal binary... But I bought it for the iPad anyway.

Well, i'm not really much of an artist, as this is my first time, but this App really brings me into the drawing mood. How do I post an image?

These are all beautiful sketches. I'm very jealous of the talent I'm seeing in this thread.

The worst thing just happened to me. I lost over 3 hours of work because the sketchbook app crashed on me. Can't believe this happened. This is one of my better drawings too. Why isn't there an automatic save feature? :( I feel kinda sick now.

The same thing happened to me. I think that i will be religious about saving. One thing I hate about iPhone os is that it just closes instead of freezing and letting whatever process work itself out. Not a big deal most of the time but when your deep into a game or working intently on a project it sucks.
