Spent the day experimenting with the backtrack feature. probably should have brought the dirt bike but this is really convenient to have. The truth is, I've been using a Garmin Zumo XT with recording turned on for years and I can just go back the way I can as it tracks my bread-crumbs at boot up but having the watch do this is nice as well.

I was worried about the Ultra's height because I wear full gauntlet motorcycle gloves and already the 45MM watches always had a pretty pronounced hump. this isn't too bad. Of course, the activity button I have set to 'waypoint' is pretty useless when I wear full gear so I'll probably change things up. When I have off-road crashes, the fall detection usually starts ringing family before I can remove my gloves and pull my jacket sleeve up to get to the cancel button.

I'm also LOVING the always on display. I have a Qi charger on my motorcycle and this is really nice to know a text came through without taking hands off the handlebar to Pres the power button:

Spending the next 3 weekends in the woods, looking forward to using the Ultra for more compass / way finding workflows. The day I got the iPhone 14, I already got to use the satellite to update find my (no service at my house and definitely not when I'm camping which is every weekend until mid-October)

By the way, what's the best way to get rid of micro scratches on the Silver Link Bracelet?
In addition to the 3M green Scotchbrite pads shown in an earlier reply, there is a burgundy 3M pad that is the next grade up (less abrasive) than the green (but also harder to find). It will leave a slightly finer "brushed" finish. Big suggestion: whichever you choose, stick with genuine 3M pads. I've had some frustrating results with knock-off pads. Some of them are probably fine, but it's not worth the time, effort and cash to take chances on off-brand abrasives.

I don’t see any reason why they would make a smaller version of the ultra watch. Some of the features may eventually make it into the base models, while the ultra will probably continue to get additional adventure based features.

I could see them flattening out the Apple Watch in general. Having it site flatter on the wrist would take away some of the appearance of bulk. It’s going to be tough with battery life / battery size.

Thanks for sharing! Given your activities I would be interested to know how is the squared off sharp design around the screen is after this first weekend? No dinks, dents in case your watch went again any type of surface?

Took delivery Friday then went to The Big E (carnival) In Massachusetts. Then got a hotel, woke up Saturday and went to Six Flags over New England and home by 9PM. Still on the same charge from day 1. I woke up Sunday (today) and mowed the lawn for an hour Paired to AirPods Pro 2 and then went out for a 6 hour ride. The battery is finally at 20% around 4PM on the 3rd day.

the watch has had about 3 pretty good hits against metal surfaces in the first 3 days but no damage yet. I’m expecting it to get very banged up. I am in the woods (sleeping in a tent) about 30 days a year but we’re at the end of the season here in Vermont so not many camping weekends left.

I’ve owned many Apple Watches already, always DLC coated (space black) models and I’ve been very happy with how they’ve held up. I’m expecting This watch to show a lot of wear but the screen and battery life make it worth it.

Anyone have a Hermes Orange sport band that can put it on the Ultra and take a pic? I want to see how it looks from a size/fit and also Orange band to Orange action button specific lol.

I know my request is ridiculous, but I have an Ultra on the way and I want to pick up a Hermes Orange Watch Band to go along with it because I prefer the silicon, but need to see the color matching first. Thanks in advance if anyone has this pairing and can hook it up <3
Here you go:

No Ultra here, sorry ;-)

Coastal Gray SB though…

Hahaha. Everyone's so focused on the Ultra, I feel embarrassed to post my Series 7. I feel like I'm letting everyone down. 🤣:D:D
Ha so true. I’ve had the AWU since Friday…and picked up a SS 8 yesterday 🤣. Still not sure which I’ll keep. I love the SS design. I take the classic design for granted but compared to the chunky AWU it’s so sleek and smooth. A real beauty! Keep posting these non-AWU watches. The hype will settle and it’ll be nice to have a mix of both in this thread.
