I think people have way too narrow of a definition for what 'family friendly' would be. For example, Salem's Lot was made for network television, was directed by the same guy that did Texas Chainsaw Massacre, was really creepy AND...only had one brief moment of blood/gore, no nudity, no adult language, and only one truly "adult situation" in the entire mini-series. I think all Apple is trying to avoid is R rated material. That would certainly make sense for Amazing Stories.

You need to set up parental controls and leave the rest of us alone

They used to allow us to block explicit content on the music app for the radio stations. Not anymore.

This is the main reason pandora stays installed on my iphone.

You could broaden what you watch if you think family friendly == boring.
But that's what it is. Family friendly equals "boaring as f**". Nobody without kids would ever watch so called family friendly stuff.

I agree. It literally is gratuitous. It is completely unnecessary. It adds nothing to the story. It is lazy. I’m not just worried about kids. I don’t want to see it. I made the mistake of watching Sense8. I put up with it far too long. A particular scene disgusted me and I stopped watching that trash.
What you don't want to see is "reality".

The new season of American Gods will be nothing if they don't bring him back. Creatively, the man is a genius.

I'm worried, but the new showrunner worked alongside Fuller in the past and Neil Gaiman approves. so it might turn out OK. I'd be more optimistic if Gaiman would co-run the show, but apparently that report wasn't true.

Way OT...

This is really pathetic on Apples part, it’s wrong in quite a few ways to have that approach.
Massivly so... they are equating the sekvs to Disney land.

Hey Apple 1.3 billion user base.... not all of them are kids.

Apple is probably going to avoid R rated material. That doesn't mean it's all going to be children's programming. Look at your avatar...how many films did Kurosawa make that would be considered R rated today? Not many.

What is so great about it? I do not care much about any given show. Where I see the problem is that Apple wants to control everything its customers watch disregarding the fact that different people like different things. Eventually, all [remaining] Apple fans will be alike - using the same phone, same headphones, same speaker, listening to the same music and radio, watching the same shows, having the same jokes. So sad.

What?? I already said what's so great about it. The market is currently over saturated with "edgy" content, and more family-friendly content is a very much needed thing.

Also, Apple doesn't "want to control everything its customers watch." Are you out of your mind?? Apple is ONE company. That's like saying Disney (since they specialize in family-friendly content) is trying to control everything you watch. It's not true, and it's a stupid thing to say.

Apple should have bought Netflix. Keep things separate. Make loads of edgy content without involving the company logo.

Just because a show has run for 15 years...does not mean it is a 'quality' show.NCIS is essentially the same story over and over and over and over and over and over...you get the idea. With their "edgy" 50+ year old woman playing a 'goth girl'***...it would be hilarious if the show wasn't just soooo bad. And cliche. And then there's the incredibly annoying and cardboard 'marine' cut-out character played by Mark Harmon or whatever his name is.

EDIT: ***To clarify -- I have NO problem with the actress nor her age! It is the absurdity of the character and lack of dimension

And...not to say that the show isn't 'entertaining.'
I get it. I just couldn't watch more than a few episodes at most.

Actually, I think there should be shows that aren't too violent and aren't showing people having sex - and still be entertaining.
IMO, NCIS is one such show that has successfully run for ... over 15 years, without getting more and more violent, more and more sexually loaded and engaging in more and more convoluted conspiracy theories (which are really the downfall of most series IMO).
There is some sex in NCIS, but it's - AFAIK - only used economically and it's never too "gross".

I watched that when I was young. Couldn’t sleep with the curtains open afterwards in case there was a little vampire there tapping on the window

Off topic but they should've bought waze too.
No freaking way should Apple ever be allowed to purchase ANY content company unless it is something horrible like FOX...or CBS. I would unsubscribe in a minute to any streaming service purchased and controlled by Apple. That would just be the end of all variety.
Look at the App Store: 5 Gazillion games that look like candy/coolaid in some form or fashion, and this 1960's Father Knows Best 'family' mindset. Not all of us CARE what you puritans like. Don't watch programming made for adults if your sensitive natures are upset by realistic fare. Or watch The Disney Channel!

Parents or just adults who want to feel like a "kid" probably find all these super hero movies entertaining. The family-friendly marvel movies are breaking records at the box office and fuller house on netflix has got its 4th season renewed. Just saying there's definitely a lucrative market for family friendly content.

Family friendly? Shouldn't parents do their jobs not the TV? This is the saddest generation of kids thinking that mature content movies or TV Shows harm them when it is the parents who are committing the harm of not doing their jobs.

I love Apple products, but they’ve had literally zero Apple Music exclusives that I’ve remotely cared about, and none of their TV rumors sound interesting. I love Apple Music because it’s a streaming service integrated with iOS, but beyond that, not much else. Steve Jobs often said to let the people who know what they’re doing to do it.

I get Drake, Taylor Swift, etc are big stars and big sellers. But Apple is massive because of the diversity of their audience. I’m not seeing it with their original content, and it doesn’t sound like it will get any better.

I know this is going to be a difficult concept to understand, but I'm going to say it anyway:

Not everything is made for you.

I don't know how this site accumulated so many "if I don't like it it shouldn't exist" edgelords. Just because you stopped being kids doesn't mean they stopped making kids.

Look at Nintendo. They make family-friendly games, and they're doing quite well. Amazingly, you can also buy games like DOOM for their console, they just aren't made by Nintendo.

Apple should have bought Netflix. Keep things separate. Make loads of edgy content without involving the company logo.
But Netflix is already making loads of edgy content without Apple's help.

What exactly does family friendly mean? I assume it’s allowing violence and death so long as you don’t see gore, possibly sex where you don5 see any flesh? What is it that makes it family friendly though?
